A collaboration with , he provided this render: [link] and although I thought it would be easy to add a bit of fancy lighting and typo and produce an accomplished picture, I decided to try some new techniques out in Photoshop and transform it into something different. I had trouble deciding whether to have them shooting up out of the water or diving into it, but I think this worked best in the end. A tutorial for this will appear at some point.

This would have been so much easier if I had good 3d skills. As it was after producing a very basic wireframe render of a head I had to spend ages in Photoshop pulling in apart... It almost killed my pc as well, too many layers at too hi-res, here's a snapshot at 100%: [link]

In other news, I hope everyones having a good Christmas/holiday season etc etc. I'm taking a break for a bit to work on some other projects but I'm sure I'll get bored and knock some crap up in Photoshop at some point.

Here to announce the launch of Depthcore version 5 and the Freestyle pack, a piece of mine using an old render of my good friend *rucish.

The first in the nation series, I hope you enjoy them all as they come. For now go check out Freestyle, I think it's the bomb and so should you.

I do love sea monsters, I think I'll do some more Lovecraft based work at some point with a sea-theme.

I actually did 90% of this in Photoshop on my work pc in some spare time before final tweaks at home (I love CS2 for quick layer manipulation). It almost killed my desktop at work, I'm so glad we're being given some nice new workstations. Dual core P4s, 2 gig RAM, fast HD, it'll be great to have a pc that's a match for my home one :} Anyway this is actually 20% of the original size I was working at which might explain the strain my work machine went through...

Oh yeah and a new DC pack is coming soonish... I promise ;}

Oh I don't know.... I mean I'm not even sure I like it... even so I was thinking DA was looking a bit too green, it needs some colours to liven it up.

The first of my two submissions for Depthcore pack 24 'Calibre'. Go check it out!

As for this picture, it's my way of representing being in a bad mental state, which seems to be becoming a bit of a recurring theme I must say... I worked at pretty hi-resolution for this, you can see some 100% zoom detail shots here if you like.

Another from the 'nation' series, this was an excuse to mix some abstract mess with nice clean 'vector' stuff. I do like experimenting, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't... I quite like this one :{}

On another note my pc is half-broken again, which is annoying as I have lots of pictures I want to make at the moment. I'm sure things will sort themselves out.... in time.

The spiritual sucessor to 'only' : [link] , I know that some people will like it because of its experimental nature and some will hate it because it doesn't really fall into the 'eye candy category'. I enjoyed making it though, and enjoyed playing around with a new style... old and musty is how I see it :}

You wouldn't believe quite how much Photoshop twiddling went into making some of those shapes, at one point it looked like a giant cartoon sydney opera house and later it was some sort of medieval bird carving. The original photo was part of a knife I think, but those bendy things that look like blades were actually made out of part of the handle. Weird.
