Lately I've been thinking about all the things that inspired me from the youngest years. Not always directly, but still. Aside from certain movies and cartoons, the biggest inspiration was always the books. Mostly because of the illustrations (well which kid doesn't like nice pictures?). I had (still have) lots of albums and fairy tales that gained my love. One of my favourites had illustrations of fantastic imaginery, like huge bunch of grape-eyes hanging in the sky or few pieces featuring amazing, creepy skull-castles (I remember dreaming of living in one for a long time, haha). These things are like images imprinted in mind, that comes to the surface from time to time. Every time I try brainstorming and come up with original idea, some of my thoughts floats there, to the first fascinations.
How about you? What was the things that you loved as a kid and you see it now in your art?? Come on guys, share your thoughts :]
Re-reading A Song of Ice and Fire (by George R.R.Martin), one of the very best fantasy series imho and my personal favourite. I was going to do some classic fantasy illustration series for a long time, hopefully at last it would come true.
Then again, same motifs... aren't you tired of it?? tell me, honestly.
