The Porcelain DollHer pretty glass eyes convey no feeling. The Porcelain Doll5 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
The mask she wears is all she knows.
Sadness strikes, she gives a vacant smile.
Happiness comes, it still does not falter.
Everything is nothing to the poor little thing
And everyone is nobody in her heart.
Little girls play with the delicate woman
Pretending she is their best friend.
They idolize the porcelain doll
And beg her to give in to their every whim.
Never has one been able to answer
But still the little girls plead.
How is it that this emotionless toy
Can receive such pure adoration?
For when these girls grow past adolescence,
They cannot view the doll the same.
For it is nothing they find in themselves
And everything they see in the world.
