this is a contest for a character for the "Anima: Gate of Memories" video game.
I will be very clear, there will be NO PAYMENT for any winners here. You enter if you want to do this, and we are in no way trying to scam anyone of doing free work.
What the winner will get out of this contest:
1. the winner's character will be 3D modeled, and put into the game as a character inside the game and story. We will work to incorporate this character into the story, without him or her just standing around for nothing.
2. the winner's full name will be in the credits.
3. This character will be copyrighted primarily to this game, you are allowed to use the artwork for your portfolio, but may be a bit complicated if you want to sell him/her off to a new client. Details of copyright can be discussed with the winner.
What we are looking for:
1. human character in any age or body type, he/she should look like a fa
5 LevelsI've spoken as guest speaker a number of times over the years (come visit me at SCAD Atlanta in January). While I'm not the best or most patient teacher, I think my strength is my pragmatic and blunt approach to the business side of comics. In order to help the students think of a "5 YEAR PLAN" (more on that in an upcoming post), I'll often break down the different page rate levels of comic book artists as a way to help analyze the playing field of our industry. If there's a ladder to success, what's wrong with defining each rung? I imagine such a breakdown helpful for moving up in most any industry, not just comics.5 Levels4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Here are the 5 LEVELS of comic artists as I see them--NOT based on talent but on page rates, popularity, and the prestige of the titles the artist works on. You might define them differently or have more than just 5, but I find that less-is-more when it comes to people being able to retain information.

I am very disappointed and apologise for not submitting the feature I had planned for Christmas and also for being unable to reply to the majority of my messages but as I was admitted to the hospital emergency ward five times since the 26th of November 2013, this was out of my control. The nurses were very understanding and allowed me to do submissions twice in the ER and using a laptop in the hospital ward although the WiFi was unbearably slow most of the time.

I just finished up a 5 part comic writing tutorial run through on my blog and figured, since there are so many comic book fans and creative-types here, I'd post links to them here in case any of you might find them useful/interesting:
Part 1: Brainstorming
Part 2: Story Pacing
Part 3: Page Planning
Part 4: Scripting
Part 5: Dialogue
This isn't any kind of absolute-must-follow method, just the way I work and a few tips. If you found these posts helpful, feel free to let me know here (or on Twitter) and share the posts with your friends.
Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

August, 2010, the last weekend before overtime started on our major AAA project. I was transferred from the previous rhythm/music video game onto the major blockbuster shooter just a month prior to their major crunch period. We were literally jumping from our last crunch into a new one with hardly any break. Though the timing made things a bit hectic, I soon learned it certainly was convenient.
The news had already traveled the pipeline. I didn't just depart from that last company; I was chased by an exploding fireball out the front door, diving for safety. The layoff's hit just minutes after I finalized the paperwork for the parking card at the new developer's campus, the HR representatives

Being raised Roman Catholic, Christmas is a big ordeal for my family. On Christmas Eve, we would always celebrate Christmas with my Mom's side of the family and we would participate in this weird yankee swap gift exchange. It's such an evil game because only one person really ends up being happy with the gift they receive, and everyone else wants to strangle that person. Unfortunately, I always ended up with a gag gift. On Christmas Day, we would go to church and then have my Dad's side of the family over for a gluttonous late lunch/early dinner.
I participated in these annual traditions for 21 years. Last Christmas was the first year I did not travel home for the holidays. I had just moved out to Los Angeles a couple mon

The Sean Murphy ApprenticeshipI'm thinking about taking on some students for a two week "boot camp" course in comics--based off the classic master/apprentice style of education. But before I move forward with the idea (and begin Kickstarting), I wanted to get your feedback and see if anyone is interested in enrolling this winter. Please pass this along (Twitter/facebook) to anyone you think might be interested. The Sean Murphy Apprenticeship2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I bought a house in Portland, Maine this past weekend. It's a 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom Victorian house that's been newly renovated. The top floor is finished and will become the drawing studio for 5 students. The idea is to furnish the building with tables, chairs, couches, beds, a TV, a library, a photo studio (for taking reference images) and all the other amenities that would create the school.
After selecting the 5 students (I'll take submissions that will be juried later on), we'll all meet in Portland this winter for the two week apprenticeship. The students will live i

Winter has always been a season which people either love or hate. No matter where we live we always have some strong emotions connected with it and a lot of them revolve around... snow!
Some love it, some hate it; some play with it creating snowmen, others do everything to get rid of it; some see it all year long and some can only dream about it.
Because of how many different emotions we connect with snow and how many uses it has it's a perfect theme for the promised fan art contest!
Your task is to create a fan art or fan fiction that will present your favourite character(s) interacting with snow.
Every entry should revolve around the "snow" theme. The more original you are, the better!
The work must be a Fan Art / Fan Fiction and it should be submitted into the Fan Art

A DISNEY PRINCESS FIRSTWhat we're really excited to see is the courageous Princess Merida in Pixar's Brave, who challenges her family and country's customs while wielding a bow and arrow on horseback - now that's a real Disney princess "first."A DISNEY PRINCESS FIRST4 years ago in Personal More Like This
At first I thought this was someone being sarcastic, then I realized it it was something someone actually said.
Don't get me wrong, at some point I'll most likely be seeing Brave myself, and the idea of an animated Pixar film taking place in ancient Scotland is all kinds of neat, but come on. Even when I saw the trailer the whole, "MERIDA THAT IS NOT LADY-LIKE" had me nearly rolling my eyes. I'm really, really hoping the film isn't going to prop itself up on, "there is a young and feisty girl BUT SHE ISN'T LIKE OTHER GIRLS BECAUSE SHE WANTS TO BE A WARRIOR AND DO THINGS ONLY BOYS DO AND EVERYONE THINKS IT'S WRONG BECAUSE IT'S NOT LADY-LIKE BUT BECAUSE SHE'D RATHER

What Came First...?
A couple years back, our publisher's CEO made a splash in the video gaming blogs and news sites by saying that we upheld our jobs with dignified sincerity, and that we knew the process of making fun and games was anything but fun and games. Of course, considering the hilarious level of integrity professional video gaming blogs adhere to (hilarious!), you could imagine those words were twisted around to single out one phrase. Take out all the previous context, and what's left? "We take the fun out of making video games."
Might as well conclude that Fukishima just started glowing in the dark one morning, St. Elsewhere is a documentary about autism, or JFK was killed by quite a powerful migraine.
The safest course of action when offered an interview by a gaming blog is to simply decline, especially if y

A lithographer as well as a painter, who devised a drawing course. He is better known for the drawing course (which is about 150 lithographed drawings, that were meant students to copy, for a preliminary exercise of drawing casts and live model). But he was also quite good painter. He didnt painted like big figure compositions or other big complex things. Instead he did perfect small scale single figure paintings.
