Three Naval Infantry soldiers, two Marines and a Navy SEAL, walked the United States Interstellar Marine Corps, FOI SMMC Michael P. Barrett Walk of Remembrance. I quietly followed their march around the barracks, through the fields and onto the shiny black deck where memorials were placed for Marines both missing- and killed-in-action during the First Interstellar War.
Around the base, groups of recruits were being run right into the ground by their drill instructors as they chanted cadences from the Marine Corps years' past. The drill instructors barked the cadence lines and recruits sung along.

So we've all been there, or maybe it's your first time and you're tearing your hair out because you have no idea how to get over it. Well, there have been times when I would have enjoyed somebody giving me a little piece of advice. And when they did, they really made my day. These techniques have always worked for me, and I hope they do for you too.
There he is, the little demon, sneering at you. First of all, don't show him you are afraid, because fear gives him power over you. Don't threaten him or try to shoo him away, he's of the mischievous kind and the more you concentrate on chasing him off, the longer he'll stay. Smile to confuse him. Give him candy, I don't know why it really pisses him off. Feel free to share your dreams of fame and omnipotence with him. Just don't let him ever get the upper hand.

After locking the door behind her, she walks over to my bed and stands in front of me. I move around some papers and textbooks making room for her (I'm so glad it's a Friday). When I'm done, I pat the space I made and she climbs up. Like always, she leans on me by laying her head on my shoulder and sighs before tucking in her knees to her chest.
