They are skilled at inventing characters, props, environments (exterior and interior), weapons, vehicles etc.
They are briefed first, and then (depending on the project budget) are expected to sketch/paint a number of rough idea's for the required design.
Once an idea has been chosen (by whoever is in charge of the art design) the artist will be expected to develop the idea into something less rough but with more detail.
Once the person in charge is happy, the design is then given to another artist such as a 3D modeler, a costume designer, a matte painter etc who will then 'build' the design to be used in a movie or video game.
Concept art is not important to the average consumer. Concept art is generally 'disposable' art. Usually it is only specialist artists who purchase concept art books that contain the art from a particular movie or game.

Tip # 1: To make the eyes stand out more in your photo's roughly select them using the lasso tool, then make a copy of the eye selection by hitting Command/Ctrl-J on your keyboard. On the new eye selection press Command/Ctrl-M this will bring up the curves channels..here you can lighten up the eyes and make them seem just a bit more interesting.. Don't forget if your selection looks too harsh just make a layer mask on the eye's selection and paint with black to fade the lightened up eyes in with the rest of the photo!

Well apparently Yoshi, Finn and Donald Duck seemed to have drifted across the internet--loved by some, while scarring others.
They're part of a new series I will be doing which will be based off pop-culture references and characters. My object? Make you forget what you thought you once knew about those loved characters.
But in the best way possible! Yes, they will be menacing, they will be violent, and some may even be just badass.
"Why", asked many tweens the past few days as as I submitted. "Why must you ruin my childhood and shit all over my loved ones?"
Well, because it's funny. And it's also quite refreshing to do.
