This was taken a few years ago on the summer solstice. It seemed nature was celebrating her longest day of the year in her own fashion as the sky exploded with color. I can only wonder if the sailors aboard the boat were as impressed with the showing as I was.
Found this in some old images I was perusing through and thought it should be shared.
The Sneffels range of the northern San Juan mountains are probably my favorite in all of colorado. Massive 14,000 ft mountains and sprawling ranchland as far as you can see. They call the area around here millionaire valley for obvious reasons. This photo was taken just down the road from Ralf Lauren's 25,000 Acre Double RL Ranch.
This was a night when was messing around with star trails at bluff knoll in Western Australia . Not what i normal like photographing but though it was pretty interesting with the cloud that moved in along the top of the mountain . Was like a 20 min exposure on the 5D MKII .

The stunning Sun-Dial peak looming above Lake Blanche in the Wasatch back-country. I was pummeled by a furious summer lightning storm a matter of minutes after this was taken. To learn more check out this older pic:
Something about my da causes my dev's to only show in some watchers' inbox.
To me, this valley in the Eastern Cape is the most beautiful part of South Africa. It's just photo heaven for me thanks to a combination of unbelievable natural beauty and abandoned farm ruins everywhere.
It's the road between Elliot and Barkley East.
I'm going back there in Autumn. The area is famous for it's poplar trees which turn just as intensely yellow as America's ash trees.

Tide was very low when I went out to take pictures. You can get great results with the reflection of the sky on the wet beach, but it's hard to get some iother nteresting foregrounds. I decided to try creating a foreground with seashore. I waited till a ship passed to get more waves and more shore. This one is the best result I think! Polarizer was used to hold back some of the light.
