My first exhibition!Tonight I joined my first photography exhibition! It was a group exhibition organised in a public space in Alghero and gathered some local photographers, including my son, GothicNarcissus. My first exhibition!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
When I received the invitation to join the exhibition, I couldn’t believe it! Each artist could only show four works and the choice felt like giving birth to triplets! I couldn’t choose because I love each of my photos like children, so I decided to tribute the local audience: I chose two photos of the place I live in, and then two I love very much and which represent my “genre” of choice.
The exhibition will stand until May 23rd.
Our photo exhibition extended for another two weeks, an unexpected success!
A new creative side of mineI don't remember if I've ever said it on deviantART, but beside photography, music and dancing, I also love sewing. My father was a professional tailor and I have learnt the craft from him. Beside everyday activity like mending clothes, I also love creating new ones altogether, and sometimes I work together with my son GothicNarcissus: we design clothes together and I sew them.A new creative side of mine2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Usually I sew shirts or vests for him, but this time I made an Art Nouveu-inspired dress for one of his models, RahLuna. She modelled for his project The Infernal Lords and since each work of the series has a unique look, I was glad to help him with a themed dress.
Here are some other works I have done for him:

you people surprised me enormously. In under 2 days all the goals were reached. Some of those even got a tidal wave of reactions! Some of my most modest dreams were fulfilled! My deviation got the front page. That is the first time since I joined DA. My facebook page and deviation got buried under so many nice comments and reactions of you all. I thank you all and hope you will enjoy everything I will post in the future.
For the picking of the winner I use a random number generator.
4 of the 5 goals have been reached! as soon as the twitter reaches 50 mentions the contest will be over! You can still fav, reblog and like me. It will still give you a chance to win!

Kidney Transplant! As of writing this journal I am officially 10 days out from having an organ transplant. I wanted to wait and make the announcement until I was feeling a bit better. And now I am!Kidney Transplant!6 months ago in Personal More Like This
I was called and came into Seattle just 3 hours later, rushed to the Virginia Mason hospital and within minutes I was getting prepped for surgery. The surgery was 5 hours, went well, and I am currently in a long term stay hotel in Seattle. I'll be here for a month total (more if needed) and its still not hit me yet how insane it all sounds.
My organ came from a cadaver donor, is in the top %20 in the nation. After 4 days it is working at peak performance. New medications to get used to, new tastes smells and sounds. My kidney affects -so much- of my life that it's exciting to see just what changes on a day to day basis.
Here's a list of the biggest changes:
My skin is healthy, no longer cracked, dry peeling or bleeding
I can eat just about anything now (In fact they want me to eat tons)
I can taste things, and
Lighten up or burn out.Well first off, somehow I accidentally deleted over 3000 comment notifications. Do not ask me how it happened. I was about to start working on catching up on comments and went to organize the list and somehow POOF deleted them. The comments are all still there, I just have to go through each deviation individually and look through the comments...which takes way more time... so basically, if I haven't answered your comment I might not, because I may just miss it. So I really apologize for the screw up on my part. If you have a question you really need an answer to, or want an estimate on a future project, please send me a note. Those are much harder to lose.Lighten up or burn out.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
So I recently realized that through my feverish working, I am very nearly caught up! I am almost exactly on schedule for customs. Instead of weeks behind, I am just a few days behind now. I am closing the gap! All that really means is I can maybe have a bit of a life again. It's pretty much been work work work for the past few month

A Moment of Zen
From a person simply closing his or her eyes for a moment on the subway ride home to the annual gathering of over 2 million pilgrims traveled to Mecca in the annual Hajj, the rites and rituals of prayer can be as personal or as ritualized as one’s spiritual self might require. The stopping for a moment’s meditation in hopes of a revelation as to how to proceed is a universal “medicine” we all need sometimes.

What if you could follow your own gravity field & travel millions of miles?
Writer Gabriel Harper pondered the mystery of our gravitational fields in an online essay. He explained a mind-bending concept: how your personal gravitational field grows over your lifetime and spreads into space. “Our gra
The myth of natural talentRecently I was contacted by someone on deviantart who wanted a few art pointers. I gave them a few suggestions and links to some tutorials. But one thing they said struck me.The myth of natural talent3 years ago in Personal More Like This
" because I have a bit of trouble with realism (not being naturally talented) I put a more imaginary spin on it."
The bit about being naturally talented made me sad. I'm telling that girl straight out, and all other people who want to be artists:
Talent has nothing to do with it.
If you see an artist who is really good, they're good because they worked their butt off. They produced thousands of drawings, or wrote hundreds of thousands of words. They studied the craft. They practiced. They honed their skills. They got knocked down by people's critiques, got up again, and kept going.
Some people do have natural talent, but that accounts for only a tiny fraction of the art process. So they see things in their head a little clearer than other people, and can capture it in a sketch a little easier. Big deal.
A part of me died today...As a few of you may know, I attend a Catholic High School. It's not something that I'm overly thrilled about, but I comply with it in order to get a good education.A part of me died today...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I happened to have a religion test today, and one of the questions there made my heart stop.
"Believing in something or not does not affect wether it exists or not. True, or false?"
The pencil slipped through my fingers, and clattered to the floor, not wanting to draw attention to myself I quickly picked it up again, and reread that dreadful sentence.
Imagine if you will, me, an intellectual and great thinker wanna-be sitting in the middle of a class which I did not want to be a part of while the fake of a "nice guy" is observing us all and making sure we're doing what we're suppose to.
The correct answer, was false. But the correct answer , was true.
This is why religion and such institutions are corrupt, for they do not seek to help humans for the sake of helping humans. They want a bunch of puppets wh
Some thoughts about Remembrance DayHello, my watchers! Some thoughts about Remembrance Day2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I would like to thank each and every one of you who supported my project in celebration of the Remembrance Day of the Holocaust which occurred in Europe under Nazi occupation during World War Two. I really believe it is important to remember such events in order for such an atrocity never to happen again, to no people on Earth. The future always has foundations in the past, and as long as we keep memory alive we can learnt from our mistakes and try to make the world at least a little bit better.
Unfortunately, not only not everybody seems to share my point of view, either in general or about these historical facts which, I think, have been proved beyond any confutation, but they even go as far as taking their hatred out on innocent people. In the past days s
Welcome to dA! FeatureI wanted to do something for the whole of the dA community. I have decided to start a "Welcome to dA! Feature" in which deviations from the recent (0 months to 1 year) members of the community have submitted to their galleries. I want to give them some exposure since they have joined to show their pride as all of us had done when we first joined. This feature is the first in a long run of many features. His work was brought to prominence, obviously, by the design of the titular Alien in Ridley Scott’s film, but he was also more or less the godfather of “biomechanical” science fiction/horror illustration.
I can’t say I was ever a real fan of his work. Most of it made my flesh crawl. It was art, but it was utterly repulsive.
Why mention his passing, then? Well, love or hate his style, its effect on the science fiction/horror genres is undeniable, and they wouldn’t be the same without him.

RIP Christopher LeeLegendary actor, Christopher Lee, has died at the age of 93.RIP Christopher Lee2 months ago in Personal More Like This
Though the man starred in epic film franchises, like Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings, he was always associated with Hammer Horror. Specifically, Dracula, whom he played on numerous occasions. The Hammer connection led to him being given roles in many of Tim Burton’s movies; Burton being a die hard fan of the style and genre.
Having generally been the bad-ass face (and voice!) of super-villainy for 50 years, the British had no choice but to knight him, and he became Sir Christopher Lee in 2009.

Derpy Hooves: Think of the ChildrenIf you are a part of the Brony community or have even a passing interest in the MLP phenomenon you have certainly heard about the current controversy about the character Derpy Hooves. After her first appearence, which was met enthusiastically by the internet community, someone decided her mere exitence was offensive and thought the best thing to do was to sue the company, which in turn reacted by censoring her completely. Notice how the eyes, the voice and even the name were "fixed" just to be safe, regardless how which of them were actually offensive.Derpy Hooves: Think of the Children3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Now, many blame the company for this, accusing them of succumbing too easily to paranoia, staining an otherwise fine show with unneded censorship and turning their backs on the internet community with whom they had a very good relatiomnship. While this might be true, i don't really have a problem with the company in particular; they are capitalists, whether you like it or not, and they have to do their best to earn their money in a very
