Art in Contemplation of Its Own BecomingDuchamp finds a discarded urinal. He alters it (by signing a name to it not even his own, but obviously “the artist’s”) and names it “The Fountain”. The most mundane, even off-putting, of objects is transformed by Duchamp into art. He submits it for exhibition and it is rejected. You might say the judges “pissed on” his idea. But the idea was born and persisted. Duchamp insisted the object was art because he as an artist presented it as such. “Conceptual Art” was born.Art in Contemplation of Its Own Becoming2 years ago in Personal More Like This

A new development on the anticipated return of our favorite superheroines has been leaked! From this article highlighting Cartoon Network's plans for 2013:
"...plus a brand new, redesigned and re-imagined CG-animated special starring three of Cartoon Network's earliest stars, The Powerpuff Girls—which also includes an original song performed by Beatles legend Ringo Starr—will premiere later this year."
The Powerpuff Girls Special: "Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice…plus a dash of mysterious Chemical X" were the essential ingredients that created Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup—also known as The Powerpuff Girls. This groundbreaking and Emmy®-winning series, created by Craig McCracken, ran on Cartoon Network from 1998-2005 and will soar again as a brand-new, redesigned and re-imagined CG special coming in 2013 where the trio of pint-

I will try to repost Book One of The Seer this Christmas before school begins again.
I can't promise anything since I have a better way of posting it on dA now, hopefully keeping people from reposting it on other websites, but Dan Povenmire himself encouraged me to put it back up. He said some really encouraging words to me, and while he said he was not allowed to read it, he did enjoy the art I had posted.
So the story will go back up, PnF and all, within time. There will not be a sequel written for it, unfortunately, and I still want it to become an Imagination Jumpstart story eventually, but with Dan backing me up to a certain degree, that and I really do love the story, I will repost it for those who have enjoyed it so far.
And maybe even post a new contest. I think a few months was a good time off for a while. I've grown a thicker skin so while there are those who don'T like it, and while I am still unhappy with a lot of my writing, This was a preciou

Never before seen Disney concepts and ideas!!"In 1999, director Barry Cook began work on an animated film which would merge hand-drawn and computer animation unlike any feature had ever done: My Peoples. The film was based on his short story The Ghost & His Gift, a retelling of The Canterville Ghost. Furthermore, it was infused with Cook's life, featuring much of the Appalachian music and folklore that had influenced him as a child. Thus, Cook worked with the Walt Disney Feature Animation studio in Florida to bring his vision to life."Never before seen Disney concepts and ideas!!2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Interview with Elena and Olivia CeballosOkay so I had a chat with two of my favourite artists and good friends who work very closely in line with visual development, and they agreed to do an interview!Interview with Elena and Olivia Ceballos1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Interview with Elena and Olivia Ceballos (ELIOLI)
(My questions are in bold)
Thanks ladies for chatting to me about your work! We'll start at the basics - what got you both into animation?
Thanks for the interview! Surprisingly, our spark for this specialized art form didn't come from a Disney film! We were 7 years old, going with two other sets of twins to the theater who wouldn't be still. We went to watch Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron. Being twins (not in all cases of course), we were so in awe at the same time from that point on by the animation produced by this studio called Dreamworks Animation. We started studying up on work from James Baxter, one o

Alright, so I took some motion sickness medicine at 10:45am while waiting for my plane to board at 11:30AM.
Please note, I was traveling alone. Hahah...
As I stood in the long line, the friggin medicine kicked in. My head started to spin. I told myself repeatedly "DO NOT FALL ASLEEP!" I took my hands to cover my face as I leaned against my carry on suit case.
Then I heard bzzzzzzzzzzzzz....everything became spotty and red.
Then everything went black. In the darkness I heard "Are you okay?" and people screaming.
I opened my eyes and felt myself on the cold ground. LOL...my legs spread on my luggage. I tried to get up but couldn't. I saw faces of people circling me. A hot girl in a white blouse, dark black curly hair bended over me repeatedly asking "Are you okay? Do you need help? What do you need? What happened?"
My first thought "CPR" lol...cuz she was cute.
By now I figured the damn meds kicked in and I fainted. Lol I would faint in the line at the airport. T
Why Cynical Improvement Is Bad For YouSince we're on the subject of taboos, I feel it necessary to talk about this one. This one pisses me off and it's very much a cornerstone to a bigger issue with our artistic community: The idea and assumption that as an artist you MUST improve at all times. 24/7. No exceptions. Every work you produce must be 10x better than your last. You must constantly strive for perfection. To ignore this "truth" is to commit the terrible sin of rejecting the very concept of improvement, and you will never break out of your "comfort zone."Why Cynical Improvement Is Bad For You7 months ago in Personal More Like This
I'm here to tell you that this is hogwash.
You should strive to improve. Never say that I don't encourage improvement. It's why you go to school, why you go to college, and why after college you continue to work on your art. You always want to be better. The problem is that far too many people have a strictly binary concept of what "better" is and on how to "improve."
First off, there is no pinnacle of perfection. There is no

My life has turned upside down.
I've had certain issues in my life for years now...and it turned out I couldn't handle them anymore.
On tuesday I had a sudden mental breakdown and soon found myself in a hospital where I spent a couple of days.
Now I find myself deeply depressed, something that I've known for almost two years already but what I've been hiding from everyone. Always keeping a smile on my face, no one could suspect anything and sometimes even I believed everything was okay. But that for sure wasn't true.
I'm having a break from my studies, I hope I will be able to continue someday.
But please, PLEASE, I ask you not to let this information make you pity me.
Do NOT start treating me differently now that you know this. Because I don't want people to start thinking I'm something overly vulnerable and will break like a fragile glass or something. No.
And DO NOT DARE to think drawing "Behind the Disguise" is one of the reas

No holding back.
No self conscious.
Just indulgence in the act of painting.
The best way to improve is to learn as much as possible from the old mistakes. I have to paint and I will learn from the mistakes. No textbook or instruction video will improve my skills If I don't paint.

Are there places were street photography is impossible? Are there countries easier than others, or harder than others? How is it street shooting like in exotic places, or places you never visited, places that are completely different from what you are used to? I asked a few street photographers around the world to share with us their experiences.

How To Improve Your Art"How do I improve my art work?" is one of the most asked questions in art related forums, mainly regarding drawing and painting in any media. Because the question is recurring so often, I wrote the following tips that I still copy-paste in various threads. How To Improve Your Art6 years ago in Art Features More Like This
You can apply these universal strategies not just to traditional and digital painting media, but most of them even to photography and collage.
- Look at pictures by artists you admire, and try to figure out things. How do they handle light and color? What edges are sharp, and what edges are soft? Why do they use that particular color there? What technique did they use? How did they work? The more you look at work of others, the more different kinds of styles and techniques you will see.
- Learn from the masters. Copy works you adore. Not for imitating the artist or showcasing your copy, but for the sake of learning. Don't be shy, ask your favorite artist everything you want to know, such as "What paper do you draw on?", or "How do yo

I've always wondered on why people keep on copy-pasting these kind of things. It bugs me. Even if you do kinda feel afraid knowing that apparently there's a hacker that wants your hardrive to find your porn stash, is it so hard to Google its validity? I'm not asking you to freaking go to a time-travelling adventure for a 24-hour climb onto Mountain Doom to get across Narnia and battle with Tibetan monks wearing only your underwear. Boboiboy Youtube English VersionSo Animonsta Studios has recently uploaded another English version of Boboiboy to Youtube. It's different than the Disney Channel Asia Version and currently, only two episodes has been uploaded so far.Boboiboy Youtube English Version10 months ago in Personal More Like This
I noticed there are some changes compared to the other English version on Disney Channel Asia( and in a certain case, the original BM version as well). Among them:
1. The voices sounds more realistic.
2. I think some of the characters had changed voice actors
3. Better language
4. Yaya's name has been changed to Hanna(Seriously? Why!?)*
5. Name of some of the abilities has been changed as well(Instead of Boboiboy Combo Time Three Power, Boboiboy Kuasa Tiga is called Boboiboy Elemental Split)
*Compared to BM version as well...
- Why change Yaya's name!?
- I think Ochobot just hit Puberty because he sounds mature(I know... Robots don't actually hit puberty)

Declines + Submission Criteria (Including Cosplay)Hi everyone,Declines + Submission Criteria (Including Cosplay)9 months ago in Personal More Like This
This has unfortunately become an ongoing problem which is why it's necessary for us to write a journal entry about it, but if your submission was declined and you would like to know why,
Please do not comment on the front page of the group and
Please do not send us a note.
What you should do instead is leave us a comment in the correspondence message of the submission that was declined. When you submit a deviation, a correspondence message like the one below should appear in your messages page. Click on the link that says "No Comments" in order to leave us a comment.
The reason for this is that on our side, we can see details inside the correspondence message like when the deviation was submitted, which folder it was submitted to, and which mods voted to decline or accept. We get a massive amount of submissions per day - sometimes about 100 or more in a single day - so if you just comment on the front page or send us a note and go "Why was this declined? (Lin
