The next morning the Prince took Ariel on a tour of his kingdom, and I was left to loaf around the palace wondering how things were going. I found Sebastian in Ariel's room, and we sat around a while, not having much to talk about. I found the long note Ariel had written to me last night, laying on the desk, but I was still unable to read it. I stared at the squiggles and swirls and finally turned to Sebastian.
"Sebastian," I said. "Ariel wrote this to me last night, but I can't read it. Will you read it to me?"
He nodded and I plopped the paper down in front of him. He scuttled on top of it and read it aloud, hesitating at

Flounder tried to stop me, but Ariel needed help badly, and he knew it. When the Sea Witch's cave came into view, I could see him grow horribly afraid, and I told him to stay behind. I was pretty scared myself to tell the truth. Stories were always floating around on the edges of conversations, always in whispers, about the Sea Witch and the strange and unnatural things she did.
I swam into the cave entrance and there were hundreds of awful little twisted things lining the walls; they stretched toward me and gaped their mouths and made terrible groaning cries, but I swatted them away and swam faster. It got so dark I couldn't

Sebastian swam up on the beach a while later, bringing King Triton and his six daughters behind him. He had left under the impression Ariel was marrying the Prince, and had gone to tell her family the good news. Triton and his daughters had come to wish her congratulations, and to say good-bye. They swam up into the shallows, calling and waving to us. Ariel ran forward, splashing clumsily, and threw herself into her father's arms. Then she hugged each of her sisters in a row, kissing each of them. Her family was delighted to see her safe, and not in the clutches of the Sea Witch. But they were a little confused. They had expected to

The next morning I walked downstairs to find the entire palace in an uproar: people were hurrying in all directions, pushing trolleys of food and decorations and shouting orders at one another. I recognized a young servant that had helped me the other day. He was checking things off a list and issuing orders, and I walked up to him and asked him what was going on.
"Why, you haven't heard yet?" he said with a grin. "The Prince is getting married! He just announced it this morning! Getting married this very day, before the sun sets!"
I stared in surprise. "We're in a hurry to prepare the wedding," the servant went on. "It will

It was a surprise that nobody had tried to find a cure to the disease... then again, the creatures that now lived in the city weren't people, but cats.
The sound of the infected's yowls echoed across the city streets as

Naminé stared out of the large, mansion window, looking past the gates and towards the woods. Her eyes were intent as she studied the clearing into the woods. "Naminé," came a deep, haunting voice. She turned her head to see DiZ, the mysterious man who had taken the beautiful blonde in and cared for her with only one request: to recreate a young boy's memories.
The sweet girl forced a smile and glanced back at the window, "I know I'm sorry," she whispered, slowly standing from her window seat and walking back over to the large, white ta

My Style of WritingStep 1: Choose characterMy Style of Writing1 month ago in Short Stories More Like This
I chose Aven in this example because the first character I chose, Avita, didn't really want to be written about. It happens. So it was semi randomly selected. Normally when you're in a roleplay you know what character you're going to start with so it's not so hard to figure out exactly what you're doing.
Step 2: Figure out the setting if it is not already given to you (usually just a sentence works)
It was a dark and cold spring night.
Step 3: Expand upon sentence at least 2 to 4 times
Second Draft: It was a dark and dreary spring night as the wind quietly whistled through the silent and cold wood
Normally between the second and third draft, I start compounding the sentence and changing what word starts it off. Be diverse and don't be afraid to slowly add in more sentences as you go. You want to have a decent starter sentence to introduce where you're at when you're writing.
Third Draft: Darkness was almost overwhel

Midwinter a frozen landscape. The cold blinding, bitter, biting. In this bleak northern land, where winter showed no mercy, the world was consumed by a raw, piercing blizzard. Even the animals that inhibit this harsh winter terrain dared not venture out. The fiercest predators the bears; the badgers; the foxes all slumbered inside their dens. Even the wolf, the king of winter, sought for shelter in their dens. The only sign of life in this unyielding snowstorm were the sturdy evergreens, trees that weather even this cruel season with silent endurance.
A girl struggled along a frozen path. Her hair

Phantom of the Opera's youth Young Sarah Giry led the boy quickly away from the circus tent. Panic threatened to overwhelm her. What was she doing, rescuing a murderer? But something in the boy's pleading eyes had convinced her. Now, she headed for the only place she could think of. The Opera Populaire. She ushered the boy quietly towards the sewer hole of the building, hissing under her breath, "In, in, in!" The boy blinked at her, then slipped through the bars and waited in silence, slipping into the shadows.Phantom of the Opera's youth3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This

MLP Is Showing Its CracksLet me get this out of the way, because this might come off as a rant: I like My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. I do. Really. I'm not a big enough fan to call myself any names or align myself with a subsection of the fanbase. I just watch it with my son, and have a passing interest in the culture surrounding it.MLP Is Showing Its Cracks3 months ago in Personal More Like This
But most of all I watch the show in its own bubble. Me consuming a product as intended for hungry eyeballs made by hard working artists doing what I hope is their very best. So when I say what I say, it is from a me to show complaint only, in large part having to do with how the story is being told.
So. Let's get to it.

I sit here, having ruminated on season 3 and its finale for a few days now. At first viewing I didn't like the last episode, (13). But on rewatch It did grow on me. Redeeming DreamsThey say it is foolish to believe in fairy tales. They tell you that you must get your head out of the clouds and face the realities of life. That's how it was in my case.Redeeming Dreams1 year ago in Short Stories More Like This
As a kid, everyone knew me as a perpetual dreamer, and I received a lot of flak because of it, not only from my teachers and the other kids at school, but from my own family, too. My brothers and sisters teased and tormented me unmercifully, and my parents were forever telling me: "When will you learn to grow up?" Easy for them to say; they never understood how hard I sincerely tried to act adult, yet I couldn't see why I couldn't be a grown-up and retain my imagination at

It was quiet on the trip back to the road. Sho didn't speak much, probably letting me be alone with my thoughts. I wanted to speak, to not think, but the quiet was too thick to break. So I was left with my thoughts. My mind raced in circles, trying to figure out how to look at the day's events. On the one hand, the only thing I had really wished for over the last eight years had fin
