DeviantART staffers continued showering visitors with stress balls, collectible pins, and swapped stories of their favorite deviantART experiences. It's a long day, but hearing some of the inspirational stories that originate from our humble corner of the Internet are truly inspiring.
Our final Comic-Con panel was held at 12:15 pm, and the topic was "How-To: Creator vs. Audience." Ron Martino (techgnotic) led the panel, which talked about how the digital nature of storytelling on deviantART is changing the way the world interacts with its audiences. Alongside him were Wenqing Yan (yuumei), Brian Kesinger (BrianKesinger), Dave Elliott (DeevElliott), and Hal Hefne

Bad News For BioShock Infinite Release Date.A Message From Ken LevineBad News For BioShock Infinite Release Date.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing.
Since then, we’ve come to realize that some specific tweaks and improvements will make Infinite into something even more extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need, we’ve decided to move the game’s release to February 26, 2013. We wanted to let our loyal (and very patient!) fans know this as soon as possible.
I won’t kid you: BioShock Infinite is a very big game, and we’re doing things that no one has ever done in a first-person shooter. We had a similar experience with the original BioShock, which was delayed several months as our original ship date drew near. Why? Because the Big Daddies weren’t the Big Daddies you’ve since come to know and love. Because Andrew Ryan’s golf club didn’t have exactly the right swing. Because Rapture needed one more coat of grimy Art Dec
What Spyro's Kingdom WasWe finally have visual of what the first game concept of what Spyro's Kingdom looked like. What Spyro's Kingdom Was3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Apparently, this game was originally going to be a MMORPG, in the Legend of Spyro-themed universe. The Portal of Power is mentioned, and we were going to have to use toys to play as our dragon characters in the game world. And just like Spyro's Universe, we customize our lairs. This game idea was proposed to Activision, but it was rejected.

I'm going to make a shout on something very important happening right now:
"In 48 hours, political leaders in Russia will vote on a law that makes speaking out as a gay, lesbian or trans person ILLEGAL. Because Russia is a large and powerful nation, the international community has stayed silent. If thousands of us raise our voices, they will be forced to speak out and stop this horrific law."
You'll understand why I can't help but post this everywhere in the hope to help in this crucial moment.

Levine killed BioShock movie project, Why?It was BioShock creator Ken Levine who pulled the plug on Universal's in development BioShock movie, after budget cuts left the project compromised, Levine told Edge at this week's BAFTA event in London.Levine killed BioShock movie project, Why?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
"There was a deal in place and it was actually in production at Universal, and Gore Verbinski was directing it," said Levine. "And what happened was – this is my theory – it's a very big movie and Gore was very excited about it and he wanted to make a very dark, what he would call a 'hard-rated' horror film – an R rated film with a lot of blood. Then The Watchmen came out – and I really liked The Watchmen – but it didn't do well for whatever reason and the studio got cold feet about making an R rated $200 million film.
"So they said, 'Gore, what about it if it was an $80 million film?' and enough time had gone by where Gore didn't want to make an $80 million dollar film."
Levine continued: "They brought another director in and I didn't really see the match
Happy ending for a straySo the stray cattle dog named Tasha (see previous 2 journals) went home today just before noon.Happy ending for a stray2 years ago in Personal More Like This
As the owner approached her she was as skittish as ever, but then she began to stare, and came up to the door of the kennel. He opened the kennel and sat down and the dog crawled over and put her head in his lap.
By the time they left she was calmly standing up on him seeking attention, her tail went from tucked to relaxed, and she jumped right into the car as if she had done so only yesterday.
After 2 years of being missing, likely running feral, she remembered him.
A phone call hours later brought more good news.
His wife cried upon seeing the dog, so grateful to have her back.
Their toy poodle, whom Tasha grew up with, at first did not seem to know her but then it's tail began to wag and the little dog got all happy... the poodle remembered her!
Their new dog, a cattle dog mix they rescued long after Tasha went missing, seems to be doing well, not exactly friends but not enemies, which in

At first, kiriban 955 555 is VERY close!
At second, photo trip to ZOO Bratislava was a fail. I love visiting ZOOs in winter, they are usually calm, animals are more active and are more curious about you. ZOO Bratislava was nicely covered with snow, but ALL the animals were hidden, I have never seen such an empty ZOO the only animals I could photograph were wolves (but in totally photographer unfriendly enclosure) and red pandas. I predicted big cats would be closed in indoor enclosures, but I forgot those exhibits have only natural light which comes through roof windows. But nobody bothered to remove the snow from the roof, so light could not get inside and the indoor cat enclosures were SO dark that one had troubles to even spot the cats there it was absolutely impossible to take a photo. And finally, I got stuck in Bratislava, freezing in wet shoes and jeans for more than 60 minutes without moving, so I wonder if I get some illness

Suiting Prep: Your fursuit and you!Was talking with another maker and we started chatting about suiting experiences and some of the not so nice things that follow. When you hit a con you usually see all the fluff first before some of the stink hits you. We discussed seeing suits that looked real mangy, smelled horrid, or just needed a good burning due to miscare. While you take care of yourself, your suit needs care too!!Suiting Prep: Your fursuit and you!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Here's how to keep you smelling really awesome at a con out of suit:
1. SHOWER. No one wants to smell your funk, no matter how 'natural' you're going for. Soap, water, scrub, repeat if need be.
2. Deodorant. Kill the BO where it really starts. It's a serious put off when you can smell the suiter before seeing them but its even worse if the person is out of suit.
3. Toothbrush/toothpaste: Fresh breath is also important. Keep them pearly whites white
4. Pack several sets of CLEAN clothes in a SEPARATE container than your fursuit stuff!! Don't wear the same stuff over and over again, that's just... nas

If possible, could you take a photo of your Marblehugger with a coin of your country's money?
I was asked how big they are, and realized that I don't have any size reference photos of them. Usually when people take such pictures of small things like these, they put them next to a coin, but I have always found it a bit troublesome, since the coin sizes vary from country to country, and I have no idea of what size exactly are stuff like US dollars (or really anything other than euros). So I thought it would be fun to have a collection of photos with different kinds of coins from all over the world.
And besides, dragons are treasure hoarders, I'm sure they'd love to be next to money.

Today, I will show you some of the deviations I have suggested (or plan to suggest) for DD, but which have not been noticed or accepted by admins, which made me really sad and disappointed. DA has some rules for featuring a deviation as a DD, it says that suggested artist should not have a DD yet, it should not be very famous artist and it should include some info about a subject in the descriptions. Those artists followed the rules, but their art has not
All new fursuit makers, are you ready?Something that has been going around in my head for the past week as I've watched a ton of new makers jumping out of the woodworks, eager to take on commissions. Making suits is great and can be a great hobby, but for those that are wanting to continue making them beyond the Hobby mark, ask yourself these questions...All new fursuit makers, are you ready?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
1. Do I have the time to dedicate to this?
On average I will work 12-16 hour 'shift' days making suits, 6 days a week. I will take a day or two off to loosen up and relax, but perhaps ever 2 weeks or so. To keep up with the demand and the work load it takes a ton of my time, often sacrificing fun events such as the movies or a bon fire.
2. Do you have the space?
I started working off of my bed, then out of the spare bedroom. Small projects don't take up space, but larger ones certainly do. Do you have the space needed for furs, tools, cutting, sewing, and other things of the sort?
3. Do you have the dedication?
Fursuit making can not only be rewarding, but it can also be
History Repeats ItselfLast week a Connecticut action group going by the name of SouthingtonSOS held a video game burning event where local citizens were encouraged to bring various forms of violent media to be burned in a dumpster, no doubt a reaction to the recent Connecticut shooting.History Repeats Itself2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I wish I could say I am surprised about this, but sadly the whole media frenzy surrounding violence in video games and movies reminds me of something that already happened once and profoundly affected the media it was accusing: Comic books.
During the early days of comic books, things occasionally got a little risqué. EC Horror comics in particular delighted in rendering extremely gruesome images and disturbing themes in their comics, which were being sold to children unbeknownst to their parents (because naive parents at the time had no reason to suspect comics might contain "inappropriate" material). However all that changed in 1954.
German-American psychiatrist Fredric Wertham was upset about how disturbing some of those

I noticed that a lot of people don't know how to search for their photos on the internet, so here is a short tutorial. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about art thieves, but i still think it is important to look out for them.
1. visit Google.com
2. Go to the page of the photo you want to search and click "show image"
3. Copy the Link and paste it into google.
4. This page should open, click "search by image".
5. Now you can browse trough the results.
6. The less results the happier you should be.
EDIT : You can also use websites like : tineye.com and iqdb.com
This was pointed out to me by some people, personally i have no experience with them, but i am sure that they work too.
Animation techniques and more Ghibli thoughtsIn my last journal I mentioned the strange effect of seeing super cartoony flat characters moving around in a hyper realistic world. There's actually a name for this, it's call the "masking effect" and it was quite elaborately detailed by Scott McCloud in his book "understanding comics."Animation techniques and more Ghibli thoughts3 years ago in Personal More Like This
In comics, frequently the main characters are portrayed as cartoony and simple, while backgrounds often get very detailed. The basic concept is pretty simple. The more cartoony a character is drawn, the more appealing and relatable it is to us as we can more easily imagine ourselves in the role. The more realistic something is, the less of a personal connection you have to it. This is why villains tend to be drawn more realistically, and heros more cartoony. But it goes beyond just the characters... the environment also is affected.
If a person in a cartoon picks up a sword and starts swinging it around, the sword becomes an extension of their body and since it's animated, it becomes a drawn thing whic

You want to make plushies? Tips and resources listEdit: added a part about fabric selection before 'where do I start'!You want to make plushies? Tips and resources list2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Ever since I posted Wolf Link and Midna I've been getting an influx of messages asking me to teach, reveal my secrets, take people under my wing, and so on. The sad thing is I can't spend all that much time one on one with everybody asking me to teach them. So I've decided to put together this massive block of text, relating some of my personal experience in plush making and listing off all my resources at the bottom. This will cover the very basics of plush and pattern making so if you are completely new to plush making this is for you, if you're not and you're just looking for resources skip to the bottom. I hope this will be helpful to someone!
First off, the reality. The big secret. The key to becoming a good plush artist is...
I can already feel the glares and exasperation but hear me out first.
One thing I've noticed with a lot of the messages I got were that a lot of people were scared of screwing up.
