Things are super busy at the moment. As you know, we've been recruiting for 2 new positions into the CEA Team for a while. After weeks of interviews, tasks and presentations, we've sent out offers to 2 deviants who will soon be joining the team. I have to say that this round of recruitment attracted the most amazingly high standard of applicants, and it was not an easy task to make our final decisions! Over 200 people applied for the positions and it was really inspiring to speak with so many people who have such evident ambition and talent within our community.
During the recruitment process, we gave the final round of applicants a task to make a presentation to us about what they felt was an appropriate piece of community outreach that the CEA should undertake. I was really impressed by all the ideas and I'm really looking forward to expanding upon some of the ideas to make them part of our regular CEA projects.

dt developer group is 100% remote. We wrote about it in We're all remote before. Well, what we did not mention is that once per year, we get to see each other (often for the first time), and work in the same room on exciting new projects.
...so we all decided to go to this place!

So why don't we take a moment for dA's 11th birthday to write a list of 11 things we love about dA? How did it help us? Did it make us grow as artists? Is it fun? What did it get you addicted to?
Your entry can be sincere and profound, as well as silly and fun - it's up to you!
You can only submit one entry, and you have an entire week to submit your list to Contests > 2011 > 11th Birthday Contests > 11 Things I Love about dA. This gallery will be closed on the 7th of August 2011 11:59pm (PDT) and we'll be rewarding the best entries in the after-party!
Even though the main goal of the project is th

Excuse me, I thought this was a Community This is not in response to any one person or recent event. It is something I have been meaning to express my thoughts on for some time. However, I have lightly touched on it before.Excuse me, I thought this was a Community4 years ago in Personal More Like This
At first 'surprise' is the word I would have used but I think now its more of a fascination and curiosity when deviantART puts out new features such as llama badges, cake badges, Groups, points, and so forth. There is always something of a this-is-destroying-dA (or the like) response.
I am aware that change will most always be met with some level of hostility. To some it appears that these features make the art mean less. I can't see that. The ART in deviantART comes second but is in caps - ART will for always be the core root of this site. Is ART all that defines an Artist? No, we are all deviant too.
It is the beautifully elegant combination of
that forms this sense of Community we have here

because your boss is a jerk or because you wanted to dedicate your time to something you're truly passionate about? That's the inspiration behind our newest project.
DeviantART has teamed up with a stellar production crew, some very talented actors, and some awesome deviants to create a series of short videos that we all wish could happen IRL. Watch above as our overworked, underpaid, and unappreciated employees quit work and show their bosses who they really are!
Not long ago, deviantWEAR reached out to the community asking deviants to create images for a new deviantART video.
We didn't say what the video was about but provided t

Logo & Symbol Process TruismsIf you follow me and my work, you are likely well aware that I enjoy logo and symbol design. I don't consider myself the lord of logo design, as there are far more designers out there whom I idolize and have the process nailed down to a science, but quite frankly I think I've become pretty good at it over the years. So with a bit of time and experience under my belt, I wanted to share some truisms I've learned that I find in every one of my design projects.Logo & Symbol Process Truisms3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Almost without fail, the first idea you fall in love with will be one of your worst ideas. When you find you've fallen in love with a concept, let other people see it, and then take a break. Come back to the work a few days later and see what new directions you can head in.
Don't fall in love with your ideas. I say it but it's inevitable. You actually will always fall in love with an idea. But hey, TRY not to.
Simple symbols designed in 1 color work best. If you're designing in color when you start, you're making end-of-the-project
