Best of Traditional Art #21Welcome to the 21st Features article from :iconwelovetraditionalart:Best of Traditional Art #212 years ago in Personal More Like This
Sorry it’s been so long since the last one, I’m so busy at work at the moment, but this article is a extra large one! We are highlighting some very special art added to the group since the last features, 53 beautiful works as selected by the admins. Remember to the article if you like it and to give the artists some ’s!
Also, thanks to everyone (an amazing 712 of you!) who voted in the poll to ask about our submissions volumes. The majority of you (57%) said that things are either just right, or you’d be happy with even more submissions, so we aren’t making significant changes at this time. We will try to tighten up on enforcing our rules (note to admins: 'mature' deviations and photography is NOT allowed!!) and we will also try to reject the very lowest in quality, but be assured we will not become an elitist group or have excessively hi
Reverse Nice Guy SyndromeI'm just going to dub it "Reverse Nice Guy Syndrome" for now because I don't know if there's a proper title for it, but I've noticed that there's a peculiar little bug that hits various people (although certainly not limited to "guys") that causes them to genuinely believe other people (or certain individuals) "owe" them attraction. In short, it's basically like "Nice Guy" syndrome in that it involves a feeling of self-entitlement, but in this case it can sometimes be a somewhat backwards attempt at empowerment in that the "syndrome" causes people to believe that if another person does not feel attracted to them, physically or otherwise, it is automatically the other person's fault entirely, and they are labelled as "shallow" (or an asshole, jerk, bitch, haughty, etc.) simply because they do not have an attraction to or possess a desire to sleep with the "deserving" individual. Like the "Nice Guy," the person always feels like they are the victim in the situation, and in many cases isReverse Nice Guy Syndrome2 years ago in Personal More Like This

good news, everyone XDyesh, I has some "SPIKE" updates..good news, everyone XD3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I just wanted to tell you that I've finally finished planning pretty much the rest of the story! From the mid part and onwards to the ending. I wrote 7 pages of summary yesterday, and today I've just written 4 pages of a new chapter!
I know these news must torment some of you, since I don't post more chapters here.. And I'm really sorry.. BUT - this means I will be finishing "SPIKE" faster than I'd first expected! I'm hoping I'll have the whole thing done and edited by the summer, 2012, and then I'll send it to some publishers!
I kind of want to send it to some English-speaking publishers now, or soon, like, send off a few chapters and hear what they think. Because translating it to Norwegian just...it... argh, it's difficult because I can't "hear" my characters speaking Norwegian so writing them in Norwegian just doesn't feel right at all...
Do you have any suggestions for good publishers I could send some chapters to? And what makes you s

Art in Contemplation of Its Own BecomingDuchamp finds a discarded urinal. He alters it (by signing a name to it not even his own, but obviously “the artist’s”) and names it “The Fountain”. The most mundane, even off-putting, of objects is transformed by Duchamp into art. He submits it for exhibition and it is rejected. You might say the judges “pissed on” his idea. But the idea was born and persisted. Duchamp insisted the object was art because he as an artist presented it as such. “Conceptual Art” was born.Art in Contemplation of Its Own Becoming3 years ago in Personal More Like This

no memory of how she came to be here, at the first station of a fateful quest she

Only you will tell her story in your words and your art.

I get it, I really do. You're busy, you don't really want to do your job, and you've been taught to have the least possible concern for other people as you can as to avoid branding this website with a 'bad reputation'.

Meanwhile the truth is this place is the biggest joke on the internet. It's filled and continually filling up with so many sockpuppet troll accounts, cyber bullies, and spammers with such rapidity it puts Myspace or any other social media site to shame.

The New Street Photographer's ManifestoFebruary 7, 2013/by techgnoticThe New Street Photographer's Manifesto2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Street photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson called it the “decisive moment”— the captured instant when all the photograph’s elements come together to tell a story in a way a text narrative of thousands of words could never begin to. It is what hooks people, both practitioners and advocate-devotees, on the art form. It is uniquely completely immersive in life— step out into the streets— in which the moment of artistic epiphany can never be guessed at until it suddenly happens. When it is properly mastered, it is as pure as the dawn of each new day, as true as the living organism of a teeming street scene catching a breath as one.
It's no easy task to pull a book together for publication and "The New Street Pho

We collected a list of comments from the release article and some journals and here they are, with my responses for all to see.
First, part of being in a community is being understanding. deviantART Staff faces this daily as we understand member concerns and try our best to serve you.
In situations like the one we face right now with Journals, I ask you to be understanding with us as we battle with difficult circumstances balancing the needs of millions of members.
Any change we make creates frustration, but if we do not make changes then we are killed by change itself.
Questions & Answers:
Q: Were people complaining about the old journal system at all? Because I think people were rather happy with it. I know I was. And can't you give people t

Early life becomes an exploration of invisible parameters, circles beyond circles, as one pushes out to test the boundaries of safety. There is one’s bedroom, one’s home, neighborhood, school and town, state and nation. Early on, maps become important documents – declarations of being and rights and privileges. In the art world, throughout history, maps have been a constant measure of human progress, from the Phoenecians recording their trade routes over 2000 years ago, or pre-Columbian times in which map

The Serenely Powerful Art of `yuumei
In the top half of an hourglass, a polar bear and her cub perch perilously atop a wedge of melting ice, its dripping water becoming the "sand" that is inexorably drowning an urban couch potato figure in the hourglass's bottom chamber. The beautiful yet arresting digital painting is "Countdown" by yuumei and it is currently one of the most popular pieces on deviantART. It is "archetypal yuumei" in its perfectly balanced blending of a striking lyrically beautiful visual with an underlying urgent social or political message.
Her specialty is digital art in an anime style, but she often employs traditional watercolors and other elements. Her cause is saving and preserving what's left of the Earth's wildlife and its environment; she donates large portions of profits from her artworks to a host of wildlife and environmental organizations and urges all deviants and others to do the same. But what has really been her stand-out achievem
