I love coloring this guys stuff, it's so great. He has the ability to take really bland or dumb looking Gundam units and make me want to go out and buy them, but alas, they will never look as good as his drawings!
I decided to try this kit after seeing Antiphon's series of WIP photos regarding it. Like he said, the engineering is absolutely brilliant. I didn't realize that you could pack this many little gimmicks and features into a small 1/100 scale kit.
While the engineering is great, the kit does have one enormous problem: The legs don't stay attached. The way the connector piece in each leg is molded, Bandai had absolutely no excuse not to fix this problem. I honestly have no idea how they could let such a huge problem slip through. I can probably fix it so the legs won't just slip off, but really, I shouldn't have to fix it in the first place.
I haven't yet decided whether or not to use the dry-transfer decals. I've never used dry-transfers before, and I'm terrified of screwing up, because they don't include extras.
I also tried a new technique for the optics parts (eyes, head camera, rifle scope). While it doesn't reflect as well as the decal material under most circumstances, if it catches the light just right, it looks exceedingly realistic.
I would only recommend this kit to those with a lot of experience building Gundam kits.
