Stock and Resources: Policy ClarificationThe Stock and Resources community is an integral part of deviantART, both for having an active community of its own as well as providing high quality stock to all deviants.Stock and Resources: Policy Clarification2 years ago in DeviantART Announcements More Like This
As this community has grown so much over the years, so has the amount of invalid stock and resources that have been provided by some deviants. The Stock and Resources community feels like this reflects negatively on them, the volunteers have a hard time trying to teach people about valid stock and how to use it correctly, and it gives an appearance that deviantART Staff tolerate so-called “art theft” or copyright infringement.
In this article our aim is to reinforce our policies regarding stock and stock use and clear up some misconceptions.
Stock and Resource submissions to deviantART:
What are Invalid Stock and Resources?
In short, invalid stock or resources are anything which you do not have full permission to upload. This incl
CEA Blog: Mature ContentHey guys, today I want to talk about Mature Content on deviantART and hopefully clear up some misconceptions that exist around it. For those of you eager to look at some boobs and hot male torsos, I'm afraid I won't be including any here .CEA Blog: Mature Content2 years ago in DeviantART Announcements More Like This
How the mature content filter works
All members over the age of 18 can choose to enable or disable the mature content filter to suit their needs. All members with a registered date of birth under the age of 18 have the mature content filter locked on and can not disable it. All logged out visitors have the mature content filter enabled and can not disable it.
The mature content filter is split in to two types, strict and warning. The strict filter is completely voluntary and prevents any deviant with the mature content filter on from accessing the work. The general or warning filter is the standard mature content tag and will remove the image from immediate view when browsing and place an warning page on the devi
OMG dA hates NarutoOk, so there's been a bit of drama today because a few Naruto images have been removed. People are blaming hackers and trolls and biased admins, but here's the real deal.OMG dA hates Naruto2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Today we received a report about a group that was focused on sexualised images of the girls from Naruto. On inspection there were found to be well over a thousand images that broke our policies regarding underage characters. We removed these these policy violations, but as you can imagine, so many images being removed there was a bit of a stir caused. A very small amount of images were removed accidentally, but we've restored the ones that were and have been notified about. But we're talking less than1% of the images removed.
So why was all this removed?
In short deviantART does not allow the sexualisation of any image involving a human minor, real or fictional.
I know this seems a bit vague and it is clarified a bit in :faq248:
But what does that all really mean? Why is it so vague and subjec
CEA Blog: How (And Where) to Report DeviationsThe Galleries here at deviantART.com receive, on average, around a hundred thousand submissions every day- any way you look at it that is a lot of creative works coming in every minute of every day. Among this outpouring of creativity which we call Deviations there are, inevitably, works which could be potential problems and when members of the community find deviations which could be troublesome for one reason or another it is only natural to want to bring them to the attention of the staff here at deviantART.CEA Blog: How (And Where) to Report Deviations2 years ago in DeviantART Announcements More Like This
Because of the various ways that a deviation might be a problem we'll focus on only one specific issue in this blog, that issue being the subject of copyright infringement.
Now we've already tried to explain the ins and outs of copyright in our copyright policy so if you haven't read that particular page yet I'd encourage you to do so now (you agree to obey the rules and restrictions laid out there every time you submit
Spammers on dASo, over the last 6 or so months people have been noticing that deviantART has been getting hit by malicious spammers.Spammers on dA2 years ago in Personal More Like This
The current trend of these spammers is to favourite an image of yours and then when you reply on their page you get a message along the lines of "I really liked your work. Hey I just got this free X Item and thought I should share it with you." These are all spammers, the links lead to potentially malicious sites. We have been blacklisting these websites and banning all the spammers we can find.
However we need your support in this, we need you to report them too us. We have a section of the help desk dedicated to reports about these accounts, it's titled "Spammer Reports". Tickets in that section are handled within 48 hours during the working week. But unfortunately I've been noticing a tendency that some of these accounts can last for days without being reported. People are aware of them because they're commenting on the profiles stating that they're spammers,
Premade Backgrounds and Group Submission ChangesToday we’re going to address the “Circle of Stock.” Cue Disney’s “The Lion King” theme song and call me Mufasa. Just like in the circle of life, what we do affects another group, and returns to affect us again. We have a responsibility to the artists that use our stock to provide legitimate and safe stock resources. As an administrator for a few art groups as well as stock groups, I have seen what happens to the artists who use invalid stock resources. They have had their art declined, or had to replace stock elements through no fault of their own. This especially includes those who includes celebrity or otherwise copyrighted material, even if it was uploaded to the Resources and Stocks section of . It isn’t fair to the artists who use the “stock” and hurts the credibility of not only the stock provider who uploads it, but the stock community itself.Premade Backgrounds and Group Submission Changes2 years ago in Personal More Like This
