What's the difference between Pseudo-Elements and Pseudo-Classes?
Pseudo-Elements are used to address sub-parts of elements. They should come after any class or ID names found in the selector ex: p::first-letter where p is the element and ::first-letter is the sub-element. Pseudo-elements are usually static and can be used for common typographic effects such as caps and fonts. They can also address generated content that is not in the sour

Starting with dA CSSBack when CSS was allowed for journals for the first time there had been only a few deviants like ClaireJones, Lilyas or kuschelirmel-stock who provided free skins for everyone. Through the time more and more people enjoyed working on CSS skins and we also got the chance to skin our galleries.Starting with dA CSS2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
These days, and thanks to the great resources about journal and gallery CSS that have been created, it is possible for nearly everyone to code their own skins and/or to share them with others. Still there are many people who struggle with some basic things, which is why we want to focus on some of them here.
Where can you use CSS/HTML
On deviantART you can only use HTML and CSS on your journals, group blogs, your custom gallery folders, as well as your groups' galleries.
When you customize your profile widgets you can't add CSS or HTML like you can for journals/galleries. All you can do is using existing dA code that can be re-us

Hey there Devious CSSkinners!
First off, hover over the Title and Stamp to see some snazzy effects. That's the kind of stuff that CSS3 allows users to play around with. As I had been an Alpha Tester on devBUG, we had a few CSS3 privileges to test in Journal Skins in which several deviants had asked me "How did you do that?" and "Please share the code so we can learn" so I've been meaning to give a few lessons on CSS3 since forever and projecteducate has given me the opportunity to do so
These are the Topics that will be covered this week:
May 27th - Introduction
May 28th - Color Gradients
May 30th - Pseudo-elements & Pseudo-Classes
May 31st - Transition Animations
June 2nd - Conclusion
I'll try to be as simple as possibl

What is a Transition?
This time, I'll explain with an example. Let's take this awesome emote by jahw.
When I see that emote, I'm imagining it saying "CHAAAARGE!" and running forward! So I want to make the emote do that, but instead of opening it up in Photoshop to animate (which I'm not allowed to do anyway since it's not my work), I'm just going to add a simple code that will do the animation for me! Hover over the emote below to see this magic in action!

There’s something about the brilliant colors of the dying leaves of autumn that reflects the wonders and the sorrows of life. It’s as if by waking up each morning into this beautiful world of natural colors, we are being given our bittersweet reward for surviving another year on the planet. We are regaled with a brief seasonal ceremony of the turning of the leaves, nature’s gift for our eyes as a promise she will soon return after her yearly rest. And then it’s time to let winter’s grey pallor unfold over us in blankets of dark cold rain and bright brisk snows; we sleep, the autumn’s leaves having promised
Basic CSS Style GuideIntroductionBasic CSS Style Guide10 months ago in Art Features More Like This
CSS is a style language used to define the style and formatting of web pages. It is used in conjunction with HTML.
If we think of HTML as the building blocks of the web then, essentially, CSS is the painter and decorator. Very simply, HTML defines the structure of the page and CSS defines the style.
What I'll be helping you with here is getting to grips with the basics of CSS. I'll be explaining how use CSS as well as providing a number of examples that you can use to style your own web pages and journals. All you need to do is copy/paste the code and replace the sample text with your own content. Along with the quick reference I've also written a brief glossary of terms and provided a list of useful links in case you wish to do some further reading.
A point of note is that while the information and examples I've given here apply to CSS use anywhere on the web, this guide itself is geared towards the use of CSS on deviantART. As such, and given that this h

A major turningpoint in my life!Hey there guys,A major turningpoint in my life!2 months ago in Personal More Like This
thought i could share this with you all 'cause you've been with me through all these years by supporting me and giving my art so much love!
Maybe not many of you know i had a regular job in an insurance company here in Italy. So art and animation were just an hobby to be done in the sparetime.
I've been drawing all my life since i was a child but never been encouraged to follow my passion...that was not 'good, serious, even possible'...so i've spent so many years trying to convince myself that the path that other people had drawn for me was right...untill two weeks ago!
I realized i could not hold this passion back anymore. So i quit my job and i am now officially an artist
I mean, i am seriously working hard on my portfolios in order to work for someone in the near future and i'm doing also commission works 'cause i have to pay the bills, you know
So, wish me luck!!Right now i'm excited, confused, scared but i feel alive
Never stop dreaming, never stop believin
