Another early commission pic from *bbmbbf and the Palcomix team.
In this one, I just love the coy, flirtatious expression Lisa is giving to the viewer, while hooking her bare foot around her brother's ankle. He's not going to be going anywhere while this picture was taken.
If you look carefully, you'll notice quite a few of my commissions show characters either barefoot or wearing sandals, even if sandals are not the character's normal footwear.
I think this was *bbmbbf's first Simpsons commission, and he did warn me that he didn't think he would be very good at imitating Matt Groening's rather unique art style. But I actually think it turned out really well! ^_^
See now, when I watch The Simpsons, I don't just watch it for humour or plot-lines. I find most inspiration from the animation, hence why my artwork turns out quite different from others. I suppose, you can appreciate it some more if it's a still image, after all you have more time to look, with no motion involved. Anyway, I've always liked doing this type of thing with my work. It's a nice little surprise when they can do these dream sequences on the show. It lets them loose with their artistic license. The 60s/70s had a lot of colour and I was motivated to create this based on what I saw. A nice change especially considering there's usually not a lot of colour in art these days. Then again, I do Simpsons fan art, so loads of Yellow.
