50 essential shooters tips:4 and 54. Use a wide aperture for portraits50 essential shooters tips:4 and 53 years ago in Personal More Like This
Anyone with a cat knows that when they're hunting or playing their irises contract to enlarge the size of their pupils. This has the same effect as widening the aperture in a camera lens: it makes the subject they are focusing on very sharp while causing everything behind and in front of it to blur. We call this a shallow depth of field. This is perfect for portrait photography, as it draws forward your model within the scene, making them the central focus while the background falls away. Choose f/1.8 or similar wherever possible.
This image of a chicken was taken with a wide aperture to keep the subject in focus while blurring the background.

Journal #11Well another month has gone by and I did not get as much done as I hoped. I had not been taking photos for almost a whole month and I have not managed my account in that time either, so right now I am in the middle of catching up to speed. I will be spending quite some time adding photos that I took from even as far back as September, I believe, and submitting photos to groups, as well as many other things necessary. My months goals have not been accomplished but I am not letting these events determine my mood. I am now a year older, as well my birthday has passed recently, also I had a lot of fun with a friend of mine. We went to go see a movie called Argo, which was excellent, and then went to have pizza. I had a good time even though my other friend was not able to make it to the movie. Well anyway moving on, My art is still improving, and I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT YOU CHECK OUT MY OTHER ACCOUNT PAGE: :iconnoJournal #113 years ago in Personal More Like This

Please don't take what you've got for grantedI'm from a Third World country called Guyana. It's located in South America, and while it's a beautiful country, it is a poor one. Please don't take what you've got for granted2 years ago in Personal More Like This
My parents and I emigrated to America in 1995, right before my third birthday, and we moved into a small, cold attic. For my first year in America, we had no furniture. We had no couches or chairs. We used to eat our dinner on a cold kitchen floor. At some point, I had came across a cardboard box which I had folded into two pieces and drawn cushions on. That became my "chair" for my first year in America.
As well as I know my father, I don't know the complete story about his childhood or how he grew up. My father was orphaned by the time he was sixteen years old and I vaguely know that he grew up in poverty.
A couple of years ago, my father was bringing home a pizza for me. I was hungry, so when he finally got home with the pizza, I said something along the lines of, "Oh, thank god! I'm starving." My father, whose eyes I'm the apple of, who's never yelled a
