I AM UNCLE!!! :DAlani. That's the name of my adorable niece, who was born yesterday night at 23:58pm. My sister :iconPixieCold: is now a proud mother of her first child! We are all so happy that this took a happy end, because at first it didnt seem so... Alani had problems with her oxygen supply and so the labor had to be induced. But this implicated, that the delivery took more than 5 days with extremely painful throes and my sister was really in critical condition... We were really afraid, that either she or her baby may not survive the procedure...I AM UNCLE!!! :D2 years ago in Personal More Like This
But now she is there and we are so happy!! She is the cutest little thing I ever saw, I wanna be the best uncle for her!

Thumbnail Size OptionSo you guys have probably seen those glorious new thumbnails currently dominating our previously perfect and definitely not-in-need-of-a-change home-page. People have different opinions on these thumbs, but a recurring theme you can see in the comments section of the journal announcing this change (must watch %hq to get these updates; I suggest you watch them so you're not wondering what happened when other bewildering things like this happen) is that people do not want ginormous thumbnails to dominate their galleries and the homepage! Just like with the journal/news merge -- which the polls overwhelmingly said DO NOT WANT -- DeviantART is ignoring what their users want. You know those people who spend piles of money a year on this site, whether by going to the DeviantWEAR and buying overpriced shirts or buying Premiums (oh, by the way, I want the option to just straight up buy 3 months again, thank you, dear ones), who frequent the sites and post art anThumbnail Size Option1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Well, we've only got a few days left until Christmas, so first I want to wish all of you happy holidays and a great Christmas!
Second is going to be a long one. This is something that's annoyed me for quite some time, so I thought i'd explain my thoughts and ask for yours in return. The argument is with camera gear. I've had many people say that people with SLR cameras automatically take better photos than those with point and shoots, simply because they have an SLR, and this brings us on to the old Nikon versus Canon argument which i'll come to later..
First off. Gear does not make a photographer. The only thing a camera is designed to do is capture an image. This is the same for £100 point and shoots as it is for £4,000 dSLRs. Having top of the line equipment does not mean you know how to use it, or even know the basics of photography. Just because you have a £4,000 Nikon D3 and a £3,000 F2.8 lens does not mean that you're a professional, or even a ph

I don't even know whether there exists an interest in buying stuff from me, but ANYWAY -

It's always the Artist. What is talent? Many people don't have the slightest clue. They just assume it's what makes your art good. It's always the Artist.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
But what if your art is good (by that I mean above the average) until you are about 10 years old, and then you never draw again?
If you don't execute, practise and put all of your blood, sweat and passion into your Art, you will not get better at it.
"Talent" is not being good at something. Talent is the ability to keep going and to improve.
So why do so many people blame someone's artistic abilities on their art supplies, school education, programs, tablets and "talent"?
I have no clue. All of these amazing artists, even they have started drawing using a pebble on the sidewalk's asphalt. They are awesome because they love what they do, not because they own the newest and most pricy art supplies. Honestly, you should never blame the quality of one's art on the tools they use to create it. I have seen artwork created in MS Paint that was just as great as someone else's work made in
Who is an artist? How people judge who is artist and to whom they call "artist"?Who is an artist?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
What is art, really?
Is that really who can draw and has unique skills is really an artist?
Is food considered as form of art? Is fixing a car is art? Maybe nothing, but beautiful paintings and talented singers?
And why other people insult "you are not artist"? Because someone has ugly style or was cheating?
Is world divided by artists (painters, designers, singers, dancers, scenario, culture etc) and non-artists (like ones who work in bank, teach English at school etc)?
I don't classify who is an artist and what is art by judging on specific skills and anything like that.
Everyone is an artist.
My universal definition the art is itself... life.
Whole universe and life is clearly and pure art.
Isn't that form of art when a flower is blooming showing brillant purple shades on springtime...?
Isn't that form of art after the rain, on skies there is rainbow forming...?
Isn't that form of art to interact between human and

"I encourage everyone to please view this image on my website I use a dark neutral background that makes viewing art much more pleasing to the eye."
This is my only real gripe with deviantART, and one that if they fixed, I feel could significantly improve the look and feel of the site as a whole.
The main reason I post this is because I can't understand for the life of me why deviantART, an ART website, would choose a very awful shade of green to use throughout their website to showcase art. It's my opinion, and the opinion of pretty much any art site you visit (red bubble, 500px, 1x etc) that there should be a neutral background to a website where you are showcasing art. It really should be black or white or anything in between (shades of grey) This weird, gross shade of green just makes everything look worse. It's such a great site, with SO many talented artists, I can't figure out why the

Hi! I'm freelance artist, illustrator and fantasy conceptual designer. And a ghost wanna be.
Originally I don't have a standard pricing rate anymore, since I do work for every different client and their needs since I work more on commercial art for publisher, but here I made approximately how much I charge for my service since I've been asked many times.
The first section is as a part of my full time working artist, the second section is with a thought of small commissions for fans :]
-The prices posted are only approximate and examples just for orientation.
-The bigger format, the more details, possibilities and effort is being put. The prices there are basic charge.
-Prices are also negotiable.
-I accept all kind of currencies, thus the pricing rate may be different for each country's currency market.
-The prices may raise up in some time.

Regarding a MouseSomething with warm paws stepped on my forehead last night. A cat? I went downstairs and counted cats as they came in. Two cats came in, so it wasn't a cat. I sat them down for a chat.Regarding a Mouse2 years ago in Personal More Like This
"Do you two realize that there is a mouse in the house?"
"Feed us our kibble," they said.
I woke up the dog for a talk.
"There's mouse in the house," I said.
"Did you speak to the cats?"
"I spoke to the cats," I said.
"And what did they say?"
"That's not the point."
"What's the point?" asked the dog.
"Where were you last night? You're the guard of the house."
"I don't guard against mice. That's the job of a cat."
"But had you been by the bed," I countered, "a mouse would not have dared jump on my head."
"That depends on the mouse," said the dog. "A bold mouse," he continued, "might think he's a pet."
"I have enough pets," I said. "Two cats and a dog."
"I'm not a pet," said the dog, "I am the best friend that you have, aside from the Boss. Did you ask her why there's a mouse in her house?"
"That's not a t
Commissions WidgetSome of you may aware of the newest released feature by deviantART- that very long awaited widget/module/space for commission on your personal page.Commissions Widget1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Here is my thought about it, no, actually a serious concern where I posted there- please read it first: http://comments.deviantart.com/1/347788178/2897698997
To add more: in my opinion I am quite disappointed with that new commission module which have quite childlish feeling (devART, IMHO, represents art as entertaiment which is pushing far away from art as a serious profession in our real world /where in effect many people don't take us, full time working artists seriously etc./ besides of Portfolio release where they did a good job. But when money is involved...) and that's pretty much fast-food commission for quick take and out (points, quick modul and price limit).
That addition of the price limit (which is very low) which may suggest to many young people about fixed general idea of price with art into mentality (art has
Rat Anatomy Compilation.Rats are very fascinating little creatures. They have small hands like humans, minus the thumbs. They are intelligent and social, and each rat has a unique personality. They can also easily stand on their hind legs, making them an easy transition to an anthropomorphic form for stories and art.Rat Anatomy Compilation.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Unfortunately, though, they are damn difficult to draw, and there are precious few resources for those wishing to delve into their anatomical structure (certainly me included). So I will be collecting references, both photos and drawings, that I think might be helpful to someone looking to draw my charming friend Rattus norvegicus (and perhaps some of his closest family members). I will probably add to this from time to time as I find new resources, so please feel free to suggest things that you think might be useful!

Do YOU want to sell prints? One mistake you make.Hi people!Do YOU want to sell prints? One mistake you make.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Today it is a short journal without photos, sorry.
I would like to give you one important advice, so I hope it can be still useful
I see many people try to sell prints here. And they are often sad they have not sold anything yet.
But at the same time I see they do the same mistake. So:
HOW PEOPLE TRY TO SELL THEIR WORK AS A PRINT?
1. you took a photo (drew a picture). It is nice, so you want to post it as a deviation.
2. you edit it. Making it sharper, more colourful, adding contrast, CHANGING a size to some 850x600px, for example.
3. you post it as a deviation.
4. you look at your deviation and think "hm, it looks pretty cool! Maybe somebody can buy it. I will allow it as a print."
5. you click at "submit as a print" and in "print submission" option you just scroll down and click at "SUBMIT AS A PRINT".
6. now deviation in your gallery has that cool "buy this print" green button and you are excited about somebody buying it.
7. you are disappointed that nobody bought it.
