I opened a new DarkArt Collection - a group, where I want to gather deviant's DarkArt -, for creating a showroom, for bringing together an assenblage of your best dark works, so that everybody can get inspired and pick up some favs for making a feature.
Submissions are not possible, (I hate this procedure of accepting and declining), I will ask you, I will invite your works and it would be nice if you take part in this project.

Street Photography @ 50mmThe use of 50mm in SP is almost a legacy.Street Photography @ 50mm2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Without going through the discussion of telezoom vs prime lens, let’s just keep in mind that street photography is all about narrative. To have narrative, to tell a story, you have to be near the main character(s) in order to put the viewer in the same place. And if you’re documenting a time and a place your images should look precisely like that.
Like if you were there.
And that’s why the photos you like from the “Master of Photography” look so real (leaving lots of aspects aside, of course): the focal length. The 35mm look more real, put you right there even if with some distortion, but 50mm is close enough too, and without disturbing the scenery and providing enough set for your characters.
Of course there’s always the discussion of the crop factor (Canon’s 1,6x sensor will turn a 50mm lens into a 80mm and Nikon and most brands 1,5x sensor into a 75mm, and so on...), but you’re documenting ou
Developing your own FilmDear Yardies!Developing your own Film3 years ago in Personal More Like This
It‘s time for another Filmie Journal.
As more and more people are eager to give film photography a try (even our beloved Skipper has entered the realms of film), we thought we‘d supply you with a few useful tips and info how to develop your own film at home.
There are a lot of tutorials lingering in the wold wide web, here is one that might give you a good first impression how developing your own film works:
This is a general guideline, and as with all things there are a lot of different approaches to reach your goal.
Think about the look you want to achieve in your negatives - grain, no grain, hard or soft contrasts, etc. These are important questions, as the tell you what film/developer combinations might suit your wishes. This takes a bit of your time you need to spend in the world wide web to research film and developer combos and their looks. If you‘ve finally found a combination you want to try - go and check http://www.digitaltruth.com/devchart

Cube Collection (Part 1)Part 1 | Part 2Cube Collection (Part 1)4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I bought my first Rubik's cube back in 2006 after being inspired by the film 'Pursuit of happyness''. After failing to solve it a few times I got tired of the cube and tossed it on a shelf out of sight. In 2010 I re-found my cube and after a day, I finally managed to solve it using the instructions provided. I went on to memorise the solution and found it a fun object to play with in my spare time. Soon I expanded my collection through cubes found both in shops and online, and later learning to make custom Rubik's cubes. Below is a summary of my current collection.
If you a a fellow cuber, feel free to strike up a conversation on the topic. I'm happy to discuss cube related topics and receive suggestions on new cube related items to check out (w

How are you? Are you having a great time on the last summer days? Hope the weather is great and you have a lot of fun
I'm really very happy, that you liked the idea of making online symphonic radio for unknown bands (read more about it in my previous post => here).
I've been thinking about it for a long time. The only problem I have - I need volunteers, who will help me with designing the site and logo. Yeah, these two are the most difficult things for me, especially making the logo. When I have the design - I will code it myself. I'm already testing one german web hosting for it. It looks ok and there is enough disk space.
AND! Maybe you have some ideas for the name of the radio?
Let's help the young bands to break through!
Together we can make it!
Monthly Challenge NovemberWrite something from the villain's point of view.Monthly Challenge November3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Heroes, heroes, heroes thats all you ever hear about. You get heroes destroying dragons, heroes defeating evil wizards, heroes saving a city, heroes overthrowing an evil conqueror, heroes outsmarting aliens. Heroes, heroes, heroes.
What about the villain? The antagonist? What is there side of the story? What are they thinking? What is there motive?
Tell us who the villain is. Write from the villain's point of view.
You don't have to make the villain secretly good, have a bad past to justify everything, or make the villain win though you can if you want.
The top two or three winners (depending on the number of entries) will get a feature as well as anything strikingly interesting or original.
The monthly challenge lasts until December 16.

On Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012, deviantART sponsored Urban Blighty, a unique showcase of hand-selected Prints by United Kingdom based deviants. These Prints were chosen based on a variety of criteria -- curation quality, previous Print sales, genre, etc. -- in order to exemplify the breadth of works available for sale on deviantART. In contacting our selected artists, we were pleased to hear they were excited to showcase their works and tha
