Some Maniacal Mind FucksMom Nearly Yanks Kid's Tat Off:Ask Me How!Some Maniacal Mind Fucks8 months ago in Personal More Like This
According to the maniacal fuck in question, she had an altercation with the toddler and instead of, oh, grabbing his shirt or arm-- like any sane humanoid with a brain and a soul-- she decided, shit you not, to grab the kid's tackle: proceeding to pull until a 1.5 inch tear occurred. While not brainless enough to deny the overwhelming physical evidence under oath, the mother was convinced she could mend the boy's genitals with alcohol and super glue. Yes: she, this grown ass adult woman--who presumably had a public education-- literally tried to glue her son's balls back together. But not before applying, and this is the icing on the shit cake, alcohol to the profusely bleeding wound.
Stuffing, I'm sure, copious amounts of bloody paper towel down the child's underpants, the mother then sent him to bed. No medical experts were notified by the mother of the incident. Later, the father, a military officer on the army

For those of you unfamiliar with the internet, creepypasta are scary stories that are circulated through the internet, usually through discussion forums or e-mail.
The term "creepypasta" is a variation of "copy and paste" and derives from the viral nature of these stories, how they are spread by copying and pasting them.
I love creepypasta and actually consider some of them to be creepier than most horror movies. And I feel there's a good reason for that.
While horror movies are created by big media companies for the sake of raking in profit, stories such as creepypasta or "urban legends" are much more organic, deriving from the imagination of a single person and achieving notoriety by being spread from person-to-person through personal correspondence.
While horror movies rely on special effects to elicit fear

To kick off “Blame The Fright” month, I’ve decided to start by sharing the very first horror movie ever. Coincidentally enough, it’s also one of the very first movies, period. First released in January 25, 1896, the movie is a French film known in English as “The Arrival of the Mail Train.”
I know what you’re thinking: how is a 50-second clip of a train pulling into a station considered a horror flick? Well, it’s because the “horror” part of the film was very much unintentional.
Admittedly, this film is passé by today standards. Heck, most of you could probably film a more entertaining video clip with your camera phone of your cat doing something cute or crazy and then post it on Vine!
But that’s the thing: video is a common thing in our modern world. That wasn

Throughout the years, many of the Sesame Street characters would receive extreme makeovers. This was probably a good thing, as most of their original appearances were, well, less than appealing.
For instance, Oscar the Grouch used to look like this:
And Big Bird used to look like this:
And then there was Mr. Snuffleupagus.
Ah, good old Snuffy! Remember him? He was the cute, adorable, furry elephant-like creature who sounded like Eeyore and looked like a mammoth without tusks.
He was also Big Bird’s best friend who was always conveniently absent wh

There has always been this obsession with the others we share this planet with.
We communicate with them on certain basic levels and yet they inhabit a plane so different from ours: savage, instinctive, a life of sheer survival. At the same time they can do things beyond human abilities: fly through the skies, swim the oceans, apply t

It started in Northampton earlier in the year and has since spread to a number of other towns and cities around Fair Blighty.
The horrific Northampton Clown was the first. “Patient Zero”, if you will. He would simply….appear. Sometimes he would knock on doors and randomly offer to paint the window frames for the bemused resident (though he never seemed to carry paint or a brush). On another occasion, he emerged from a lake and handed out balloons.
Since this hellish creature first showed up, there have been a deluge of sightings, from right across the country, causing such a degree of distress that the authorities are issuing advice.

So one night, the Count decides to sleeps over with Bert and Ernie—and no, they’re not sleeping over for “that” reason! Get your mind out of the gutter!
Bert lets the Count sleep in his bed while he sleeps in the living room, allowing the Count to sleep with Ernie. (In separate beds! I said get your mind out of the gutter!)
Anyway, the Count has a hard time sleeping, so Ernie suggests that he counts sheep. The Count does exactly that—and being the Count, he can’t stop counting sheep.
His counting, laughter, and sudden bursts of thunder and lightning keep poor Ernie up all night, making it so that neither of them do much sleeping. (Because the Count is keeping him awake with his counting. Sheesh! What is your deal?!)
That skit didn’t seem t

Growing up in the early days of the internet, I was enthralled with Snopes.com and would regularly peruse its pages reading up on urban legends and other quaint and curious volumes of forgotten internet lore.
To this day, urban legends still enthrall me. They have that eerie quality to them where you know in the back of your head that it's all made-up nonsense, but the overall plausibility of the story makes you second-guess as to whether or not it's real.
Which, of course, it was only fortunate that Snopes and its crack team of expert fact-checkers were there to discern these modern myths and determine whether they were fact or fiction.
Most were false. Others were true. And yet the most eerily creepy ones were always those rated undetermined.
All this month, I'll be sharing some of my favorite urban legends, all courtesy of Snopes.
Let's start with a classic:

5 LevelsI've spoken as guest speaker a number of times over the years (come visit me at SCAD Atlanta in January). While I'm not the best or most patient teacher, I think my strength is my pragmatic and blunt approach to the business side of comics. In order to help the students think of a "5 YEAR PLAN" (more on that in an upcoming post), I'll often break down the different page rate levels of comic book artists as a way to help analyze the playing field of our industry. If there's a ladder to success, what's wrong with defining each rung? I imagine such a breakdown helpful for moving up in most any industry, not just comics.5 Levels4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Here are the 5 LEVELS of comic artists as I see them--NOT based on talent but on page rates, popularity, and the prestige of the titles the artist works on. You might define them differently or have more than just 5, but I find that less-is-more when it comes to people being able to retain information.

5 Year Plan*Because I'll be teaching in about a week at SCAD, I've been thinking a lot about what to tell the students. And I wrote it out so that I could solidify it in my head. This stuff is for younger artists mostly, so feel free to skip.5 Year Plan4 years ago in Personal More Like This
When I spend time with another comic artist, sometimes I'll ask, "What's your 5 year plan?" In other words, what steps is he taking in order to gain control over his career in order to move up the ladder? Usually I don't get much of an answer.
The reason I think many comic artists aren't forward-thinking has to do with the way our industry is set up. Whether by conscious design or through the neglect of its participants, younger freelancers get into a habit of complacency while hoping for a chance to suckle from the teet of a major publisher. Waiting around for a career doesn't promote the idea of freelancers taking active control of their OWN careers.
If I had to sum up the 5 Year Plan

25,000 people committed suicide in the US in 2007.
41,000 traffic related deaths happened in 2007.

Once again, I share with you one of my favorite urban legends from Snopes, this one about a group of Siberian scientists in the 1980s who accidently drilled a hole into hell and recorded the tortured screams of the damned.
This was a major "news" story that ran in many newspaper tabloids and Christian magazines as credible evidence of hell, but like every other urban legend, it was proven to be pure bologna.
There was even a short audio clip that went along with the story, but it too proved to be a hoax, as it was later revealed to be a sound bite from the 1972 movie Baron Blood.
Even if you believe in a literal hell, you cannot believe that it exists under the earth's crust. How can the earth's core possibly house the innumerable damned souls who have ever died since time immemorial? It's
