How to beat procrastination (part 2)Most of the excuses for not drawing is lacking of ideas. On part 1 of this journal I explained why I find it useful to keep a notebook with you, and to write down your ideas whenever possible. How to beat procrastination (part 2)5 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
This second part is about developing the habit of drawing. Hope you find it useful!
Create the habit of drawing
First thing to know about creating new habits is that it works kinda like inertia law:
"An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion."
Which means that the more you postpone your drawings the more you'll feel like delaying them. This procrastination abyss can be endless. For instance, I didn't draw anything in 2013 until the end of August when I bought my fi

Get to know your game development groups
Yup, there are groups that help support game development. One of the very first groups for this was :icongame-art: . It specifically ties into the game development art category because it was founded around the same time it's founder became a CV themselves. A lot of the rules for the group are the same rules for the category on Deviant Art itself. The group's former founder, :iconpyritie: works for a game company as a programmer and was at one point a CV for the category. The current founder, :icondkdevil: , is also a game developer working alongside a programmer to make a game called Gender Bender DNA Twister Extreme which you can read more about here -> http://www.indiedb.com/games/gender-bender-dna-twister-extreme
The group features galleries that our broken down similar to how we have the category setup.

"How do I select a new camera?"
"One of the most often asked questions I've seen regarding photography, above how to do something, is 'what is the best camera?', or 'what camera should I get?'.
Or something along those lines. The critical thing to note is that there is no such thing as the best camera.
Sure there are cameras that are technically better at certain things, for example, some cameras have very high resolutions, other are very good at low light photography, some are very small, and so on, but there's no su

Life on Mars
As the next planet over that visiting wouldn’t be all that difficult (Venus being way too hot), especially after our trips to our own moon, Mars has always held a special attraction for our science fiction writers and illustrators. In fact, the comic book and the paperback novel are media in which fiction and art have formed a bond like no other in which the exterior presentation (the cover art) for the artform itself (the sci-fi novel’s text) is often of equal importance, creating a combined force, in serving the narrative. Mars may ultimately become a forward military outpost defending against invading aliens, or prime real estate for hu

(I posted this on my Tumblr page, as well.)
Call me a late bloomer. I'm 21 and only went on my first date a few months ago. I've always been so gung-ho about my education and starting a career that dating was just never really on my radar. So when a guy from one of my English classes asked me out, I stared at him, blinked for a few seconds, and then agreed, thinking all the while that there had to be something wrong with the dude if he wanted to ask me out. I had, after all, just finished talking about why I liked to paint John Keats' death mask.
But despite my trepidation, I went out with him anyway. It was okay. He was nice enough. But I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something off about this guy—aside from the fact that he incessantly texted me poetry, wh

Conquer your artblockI think every artist out here has experienced it at least one time in their career: the so called artblock. A moment of total lack of inspiration that suddenly hits you, and leaves you unable to create. Most often the solution is to just wait. Most artblocks will solve automatically with time. But there are circumstances in which an artblock doesn't automatically disappear, or when you have deadlines to catch. In that case, you might be helped by some basic tips to conquer your artblock.Conquer your artblock10 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Over the years, I've experienced an artblock (or writersblock, as they call it for fiction writers) many, many times. Most of them were short, but the longest lasted over 2 years. Most of them solved on their own. But sometimes I just needed that little bit of extra help. Therefore, I made a list with a few tips and tricks to make your artblock go away. Hopefully it'll help you as well as it did me.

Most artblocks come from fear. The fear of not being able to

Kairos is an ancient Greek word meaning the right or opportune moment or "the supreme moment". The Greeks believed the concept of Kairos is achieved when such a moment is grasped for otherwise the moment is gone and cannot be re-captured. According to ancient Greeks, Kairos was the god of the “fleeting moment.”
Interestingly the ancient Greeks had two words for time, chronos and kairos. While chro

Honestly I am blank. I am not precisely mad at Itachi but I'm not happy with him either. Sasuke acted just like he was supposed to, he really did pour his heart out and he desperately tried to get answers, we even got a visual depiction of this with him tailing his brah.
But Itachi? I don't know... at first I was pretty angry at him for being such an asshole, such a douchebag to Sauce but thinking it thoroughly and re-reading the chapter I am now wondering... isn't he repeating the same pattern from years ago? He is telling Sauce things to somehow hurt him, with the intention (I presume) to make him feel disappointed and a little less enthusiastic about his revenge.
In the first panel, when he is jumping and Sauce is looking at him from the ground we can see that Itachi is scared (maybe?). He is certainly hesitating and believe me when I say that little panels with seemingly insignific

You should give it a shot!A small talk about pricing your art1 year ago in Personal More Like This
So... How much money is your art worth?
It's a hard question to answer for those who are just starting their adventure with selling and creating art for money. Is its worth equal to the price of the materials you used? Is it equal to the value of the time you've spent on creating it? What about the emotional value you put into it? Should your education influence your prices?
No matter if art is your job, hobby or a pastime, you should never undervalue it. In this article I will try to give some tips as to how assess the value of your artwork and touch the problem of too low prices.
We're in it for the money.
Let's be honest - if you're reading this then you probably want
