Kamiya's phoenix 3.5

Folded from CP with 19'' x 19'' double tissue and wet-finished. I photoshopped out the wire support. Tried this model a couple of times before I managed to make it look decent.

Paper was a bit too small so I couldn't do as much detail work as I liked; I still can't make the wings look quite like Kamiya's though. Haha. The model has about a 15 cm wingspan.

Kamiya's Ancient dragon - download the huge composite image for more details.

This seems to be a very popular model (and for good reason). I've finally managed to fold one. My previous attempts have involved the use of wrapping paper (which ripped very easily) and lokta (didn't rip but couldn't hold a fold very well).

I finally took the time to buy a roll of 24" parchment tracing paper to fold complex models such as this one. I didn't find the folding sequence to be particularly difficult; it just took a while.

Diagrammed in "Works of Satoshi Kamiya 1995 - 2003". Folded from a 24" by 24" uncut square of parchment

two Origami-dragons (20x20cm and 12x12cm)
the bigger golden one is not made of real Origamipaper, it shows, I think, it has those tiny ripped areas.
I'm going to buy some good paper soon, the one which I'm using now is rather thick.
Anyway, those two guys love to sit on my shiny stuff :)

Well, I haven't uploaded anything in half a year so I decided to quickly make something with some spare time I had a couple of weeks ago.

Time: 4 Hours
Materials:
5 Coloured Paper:
-Red
-Yellow
-Green
-Blue
-Purple
Black 160 gsm paper

I also used a scalpel and glue for this sculpture as well.

o.o' Oh hey, I bothered plugging in my camera. XD I made this back in November, gave it to the front desk of my dorm as a Thanksgiving decoration, and it disappeared. ;-; Turkey... that took... like... a half hour on the tail that I didn't even finish because it got too complicated. :P

The tail is pretty awesome though. It keeps splitting into two, so in theory, it could go on forever if the paper would sustain itself (and whether my fingers are fine enough).

Curses, I don't have my book here and therefore I must look things up.

Shuki Kato's Western Dragon. I heard it said that it is as complex as Satoshi Kamiya's Ancient Dragon and I would disagree, but not by much.

There is one step to the wings that was frustrating and took a couple hours on and off to figure out, and the head was just a mess of sinking and unsinking area. There were a couple of steps that made me wonder if they were necessary to the overall design, but in the end the result kind of speaks for itself. I really loved doing this model!

The pose, the neck, the claws and arms and legs. All perfect to me. The head could have been a bit neater I suppose and the wings are a bit of a mess, but in the end, Looks great, so whatever.
