His Kiss of Choices"Snow?" Garrus asked, tilting his head as he processed the information. Shepard watched her companion carefully and her lips twitched at the sight of his curiosity. The turian's eyes narrowed, but the Commander had enough patience to wait out his apprehension. "What do you mean, snow?" His normally husky voice grew more vicious as he quickly became frustrated.
And he took the bait. Shepard's smile broadened and she felt her fingers twitch with the adrenaline, "I mean the weather- 'snow'. Is there any other kind of snow?" Snorting her own skepticism, she waved any possible answer away as if Garrus could consider one.
"I understand what the term snow refers to, but I'm more confused by your intentions with it," he responded with mild concern. Ducking his head further into his armor, Garrus unconsciously backed up a step, but Shepard had him in her sights. Uncomfortable, the turian's shifting glances focused on the stars passing out beyond the safety of the ship.

Shepard crouched behind one wall, glancing out into the adjoining hallway for any sign of enemies. Her knees ached from the constant need for cover, but it was a necessity with the constant barrage of bullets.
Behind her, Garrus and Mordin moved with enough efficiently to make her think she was alone in the deserted hospital. All this trouble for Mordin's former assistant, but she couldn't say no to a life in danger. Besides, Mordin had given so much for the success against the Collector's that she couldn't have said no. He needed this as much as she needed him.
Exhaling sharply in relief, she tentatively shoved away from the wall and began inching along the cool rock walls farther into the destroyed building.
"Hospitals." Mordin grunted, swivelin

No, not Garrus.
His navy blue blood, something she never wanted to see, had pooled around them all to stain her armor and coat her fingertips. Without much thought, she reached over to wipe the trickles of blood from his nose, a useless endeavor, but something to comfort them both nevertheless. His faded eyes flickered over to her and for a brief moment, Shepard caught his sense of finality.
She didn't have the guts to study the part of his face blown away for more than a few brief glances - enough to know that there was a deep gouge where skin and plating should have been. Pieces of him, shards of thick exoskeleton and soft bits of tissue, hung limply from the wound; only holding by mere threads of skin.
"Garrus, hold on," she pleaded urgently, her voice cracking as she met his gaze onc

"I'm proud of you kid," said Anderson.
"Just remember you were a human before you were a Spectre, you represent all of humanity with your actions," said Udina.
"I won't let you down," said Shepard confidently.

On her first night together with Garrus, Shepard had been mildly concerned about the talons that she knew turians possessed. She trusted Garrus with all of her heart and knew that he never intentionally harm her, but there was that instinctual distrust of sharp claws near her softer human flesh. Of course she had been thinking of entirely different things by the time that evening reached the stage where his gloves came off, and then she didn't' have the luxury to think about minor details until after they had blow the Collector base to bits.
Being under house arrest had given her more than enough time to think, and Garrus was one of the happy memories she had she to stave on the crushing boredom. One of the questions those memories brought up was if turian anatomy charts and Alliance descriptions of turian talons as 'vicious natural weapons' were overly exaggerated or if Garrus had blunted his just for her.
After Effect Garrus sat high on a ledge watching the bustling commotion far below him, his sniper rifle cradled casually in his arm. Officially, he was supposed to be keeping an eye out for trouble, or at least that is what he had told Alenko before climbing up here, but the truth was that Garrus just needed to get away from everyone for a little while, some time to be alone with his thoughts. He had reluctantly allowed Tali'Zorah to drag him back to London and he did have to admit that, for a time at least, it had been good to be surrounded by friends and comrades, people genuinely happy to see him and speak to him. Eventually, however, he could no longer avoid thinking about her, so he had used the events today as an excuse to get some time away. After Effect3 years ago in Sci-Fi More Like This

Earth seemed peaceful, birds flew in the sky that was cloudless and the sun shone like any other day. Buildings covered the sky line with glistening windows and small rooftop gardens allowing plants to soak up the daylight sun. Flying cars passed by as military shuttle crafts came and went, if you from Earth it would seem like any other day. But Commander Zo Shepard wasn't from Earth, she may have been human and one of the most decorated soldiers of her time but she wasn't from Earth. She was born on the colony of Mindior far off in deep space and seeing Earth in this peaceful state was more than disturbing for her.
Commander Shepard, Soul Survivor, First human Spectre, Hero of the Citadel and Destroyer of Collectors, was locked up in a cosy room in the Alliance base in Vancouver. Charged with war crimes and relieved of duty. Her ship impounded and being refitted for Alliance use, she didn't know what happened to her best friend and pilot Joker and mes

"Regardless. I'm putting you on quarters for the remainder of the evening." Dr. Chakwas looked at her, expression serious. "Someone can bring you food when you get hungry, but you need rest."
"I'll handle that," Garrus said, leaning against the wall as he had been since the beginning of this check-up that he'd instigated after they'd gotten back from 2181 Despoina. She gave him a mock glare that had no heat and sighed.

Garrus sat on the couch of their apartment looking at the terminal screen in front of him, his mandibles tight against his mouth as a growl slowly stirred in his chest. Shepard was resting in their bed, for which Garrus was thankful for. Shepard had had a really bad day; first off the Council had made her stand on her feet for hours, prodding her with questions about what happened on the Citadel. She could barely remember much apart from a small voice talking to her and the fear of not being able to see him again. Then she had to attend negotiations to uphold the treaties she had obtained through the war, most of it was about the fleets helped each other out with rebuilding and helping the

Silence .well, not perfect silence but a familiar and comforting one nonetheless. The hum of the ship and its crew going about their daily activities was something Shepard had come to find a certain peace in. The Alliance had given her a sense of belonging and the people she met and served with gave her a sense of family. Following in her parents footsteps gave her a sense of purpose. She never expected to come as far as she had. Still, it made her sad to know that her father would never know or see what his daughter had accomplished. Standing in the cockpit with Joker looking out the window, watching the stars streak by in the vast expanse of space, she was lost in thought

In which Garrus listens to Joker and tries to find the perfect Valentine's Day present for Shepard.
It was one of the stranger sights Garrus Vakarian had seen on the Citadel. Odd enough to make him stop in place and wonder if he should be in amazed, confused, or slightly intimidated. Probably all three at once, he decided at last.
He had never seen so much pink in his life. Well, pink mixed with plenty of reds, whites, and the occasional smattering of purple. This was the third human shop he had seen with those decorations (although this was the gaudiest one to date),and if the crowds around it were any indication, he was going to have to admit that maybe Joker had actually been serious when he insisted that Valentines Day was one of the most important of human holidays.
When the pilot had first mentioned Valentines Day to him, Garrus had been more than a little skeptical. It sounds exactly like the kind of joke the man would

I've recently become enamoured with the Mass Effect 'verse, thanks to a beautiful piece of Garrus/FemShep art here on DA: Mass Effect - After the Reaper by *ghostfire, and while I haven't actually played the games yet, I did do some research and fell in love with Garrus and Shepard's story and decided to try my hand at writing the 'ship.
Now, my vision for this is that it's going to be a series of short stories about Shepard and Garrus' relationship, so they won't always be in chronological order. I'll let you know in the ANs just where about it fits in the ME timeline and if the story in question is companionable with any of the others.

He scrutinized the turian leaning against his counter. In a split second he analyzed the situation and determined the consequences of the all the possible answers he could provide. The choice before him was simple: duty to Commander’s privacy or duty to Commander’s safety? He also knew that it would only be a matter of time before Garrus figured out what happened.
