This is part of a larger project, but I thought I would post it on its own.
When imported, the object will seem to just be a sphere. If you split the joined meshes, however, you can get the more complicated, inner crystal mesh out of the sphere. The idea is that the sphere is some sort of glass or magical sheath that surrounds the actual...thingamabob.
Good results are, of course, highly dependent on your own material and lighting choices. (The preview uses a water material for the sphere, and a powerful, strongly colored backlight.)
