Another practice painting challenge in order to understand light better. Thank you to those of you who tried the first one. This one is a bit more complex. Now it's not a simple diffuse sphere with simple key and bounced light, theres are different materials in this one... reflective metal, translucent glass, etc.
The original photo is on the left and my painting is on the right.
The rules of the challenge are to copy the photo (the left image) without tracing or color picking. Try to recreate as much detail as you can in order to study what is actually happening with the light and color in the image. If you send me a link with what you do I'll post that link here for others to see and give you a critique of it.
Happy Painting! Keep practicing and your skills will grow.
As for a self critique I think I did not quite get the colors perfect (the bulb and the red floor). Please feel free to comment your thoughts too.

**Firstly i'd just like to appologise not only to adien but everyone else for not being active. I hardly have time for my own account and work/school/being social is a bitch to keep up with art.....**
This tutorial explains how to make a sun for space scenes, I think you figured that out I worked on this in three days about some 5 hours work (I took my time). I used this technique (with some other effect on it) on my latest scene called: "Transmission failed". So you can use this for whatever you want, but I think that it's best for a sun though. The picture I made in this tutorial has to bright colours though to be a sun, but they only are needed to give you an idea not to show the best you can make of it
Edit: I forgot to tell you guys that with the brush making you should change the texture mode to multiple so I edited the picture to it and it should work now
RULES All stock images must be used according to these rules: + Credit and link back to me in some way on the image. + Send me a link to your finished work preferably on the image used. + Don't use images outside of deviantART. + Don't create prints without my permission.
