Everyone seems to love my wig...A LOT. I do too! I feel it's the only thing that really "makes" the costume.
The wig is actually 1.5 wigs put together. It started as a Rainbow "Punk" style wig. Bangs were restyled and and another half of a Rainbow wig was added to make the ponytail. Voila.
This costume was really rushed, made in 2 days actually, and I was a bit rushed getting into it the day my group wore it, so there are little things I still need to do to it or change on the shorts, wigs, and track jacket that I just didn't have time to do.
Jacket was bought in the L.A. Fabric District. I ironed on the letters and the bf has an embroidery machine that we used to make the giant cutie mark (and the cutie mark on the shorts). Ideally I had wanted to modify the jacket in such a way that it already had wings attached to it, or could have a slit for the wings to poke through...but I simply ran out of time to do anything more than put the appliques on.
But, for a rushed together costume...I'm pretty happy with it and more importantly, it was SO much FUN to wear!
My halloween costume for 2008. The nuuuuurse. ^^ I didnt make this from scratch, I used an old doctor's coat and made a dress thingie from it. Stained it with blood (actually acrylic colour) and dyed it with tea. Also made those brooches with enamel and the corset/waspie.
I put this in costumes, because I didn't do too much to the actual pony, just her outfit.
Anyway.... all made by mee! Her shoes are made from modified MLP shoes, her tiara from a MLP wing wishes outfit and is completely removeable(cut with an exacto knife - ouch on my thumb) and her mirrror from a cut MLP hairbrush. Its such a shame that her stitching is so noticeable, I think on the ribbon I will cut it off and redo it with darker thread (I found the stuff AFTER I finished, dammit) But I love her anyways. She was a Royal Ribbon G3, I removed her symbol, and dyed her hair with yellow dye to make that lovely aqua. I cut it a bit too, but thats all I did to the pony, she has no symbol because I can't paint! LOL Enjoy!
This was my costume for Halloween this year. Its made of foam, fabric, a little chicken wire, wood, and more foam. I am wearing it in the picture and my head is actually were the collar is. So yes, it's a quad suit.
I made this Umbreon kigurumi based off the pattern I previously used for Pinkie Pie and Gengar. It's super comfy and made of polar fleece, with the exception of the yellow ovals. This is technically still incomplete; I hope to replace the yellow ovals with polar fleece versions of it so it looks more uniformed and may or may not attach eyes to the hood (I can't decide!) Hope you like it
Just got back from Katsucon! Time for some photo spam!
One of the biggest highlights of the weekend was doing MLP cosplay with my friends.
The purple wig was from Ebay for only $20. Didn't need to do any styling (LOL THAT ALMOST NEVER HAPPENS FOR ME).
I made the dress using Vogue Pattern 2880 (The longer one here: [link] ). I used a blue ribbon for the lacing down the side; it creates diamond-shaped negative space! (hurhur I am so clever). Making this dress was a pain in the butt; The pattern itself wasn't too difficult to follow, but it was very time-consuming. Took me about a week because of all the ruffles (The ruffles along the bottom alone took 4.5 hours to hem, and then another several hours to gather and sew onto the skirt). It was my first time sewing with Chiffon, which wasn't as bad as I expected. My biggest piece of advice for this pattern is to make sure you assemble the foundation properly (don't exclude boning, interfacing, & stay tape) and make sure it is tailored properly to your body before attaching it to the rest of the dress. A friend of mine told me from experience that the pattern runs big; so I used a bigger seam allowance for the whole dress, and then I also had to bring in the seams again in the front and back of the foundation.
I haven't really gotten any good full-body shots of the whole dress yet, though here are the progress photos I took after I completed it at home: [link]
I bought a unicorn horn and pony ears from Yaya Han to use with my Midwest MLP group, though I didn't wear them at Katsu since my East coast pony friends weren't using any ears or horns. You can get them on her website: [link]
