Chapter 2: A Trip to Lior
The Colonel was sitting behind his desk, reading through files, files about a few followers of a recent group of religious believers. But before the colonel could finish up, someone barged into his office, startling him, making him accidentally scatter the files. "Yo Roy, how's the search going buddy?"
The colonel recognized the voice and gave an irritated look at Lieutenant Colonel Maes Hughes, "Of all days to barge in, you couldn't just knock?" Hughes smiled, "Now is that anyway to greet your old pal?" Roy couldn't take Hughes's happy go-lucky attitude, but he quickly shook his irritation off and resumed his work.
Roy then asked, "So, who's going to look after the kid?" Hughes sat down on the nearest chair and spoke, "Funny isn't it? A kid, trained to look after another kid. And here I was hoping not to get any children involved."
The colonel drank his coffee and replied, "We needed an expert to locate an expert, there were too many deaths in this case invol

Tillie: Thanks Georgia.
*Then Chip came down and shushed at Tillie. Then, secretly, she left the roundhouse with Jebediah's milk cars, Georgia and the trio were surprised. T

I didn't look up.
"Mr. Maboroshi, I need you to cooperate."
Regretfully, my eyes lifted through my slate-colored bangs. The woman in front of me was impatiently tapping her pen against some paperwork supposedly my case file.
"I'll ask you again, Mr. Maboroshi; did your guardian do this to you?"
Maboroshi... It was so weird being called that again. It was like someone you knew in kindergarten had a nickname for you, then you don't see them until middle school and they're still calling you that. I guess under normal circumstances someone would be used to their own last name, though.
"Zexion!" The woman barked.
Her laminated nametag flashed: Larxene Raikou.
"Yes." I finally answered, returning to staring at the hole in the knee of my jeans.
The social worker, Larxene, leaned back in seat. She looked pissed.
"How long has Mr. Bara been abusing you, then?" She continued, scribbling something onto paperwork.
Another name I hadn't heard aloud in a while.

Staring into the mirror, into my golden-yellow eyes, I see my own weariness. Running my fingers through my black spikes, that go every which way, including down and around my face, I notice how pale my skin is, and not the usual pale either. Loving her strains me. I hate her for it sometimes. But it can't be helped...I'd do anything for her, well almost. Sighing, I spin around and smooth my hands out over the deep black shirt and jeans. I seem gothic compared to that preppy jerk she's with. I don't know what she sees in him, from what I've seen and heard, all that prick does is boss her around and treat her like complete and utter crap. Glancing at the clock, which reads 8:54p.m., I realize that it's about time for the girl of my dreams to arrive...more like nightmares. She's far from perfect; abuse of all kinds have been rid

This is my first attempt at writing a Final Fantasy fanfiction. I´ve been a fan of the series for many years now, completely adoring the many games Square Enix have released. But none of them had touched my heart as this one did, the XIIIth. And I know many people consider it to be the worst FF ever, gameplay-wise. But no matter what they all say. This is the first time that the character´s development is well worked and polished (if only, FFX was the closest). And this is the first time EVER that the main character is a female. A strong, determined, completely independent female. Just like XXIst´s century women. So this is my offering at the fantastic tale they´ve provided us. I´ve reviewed and fixed many of the scenes, besides adding some more. Hope you enjoy it!!
As usual, the characters and main plot don't belong to me but to Square Enix. Please don´t sue me!!

Chaos, the god of discord.
Reigning from distant realms,
the two gods have gathered warriors from
all lands to lead them in savage war.
Cosmos and Chaos were of equal strength.
It was believed the conflict would last forever.
In the thirteenth cycle, the Warriors of Cosmos created a miracle,
and broke the savage cycles of battle.
With crystals in hand, they defeated Chaos,
and returned to their original worlds.
Chaos would not accept this.
In desire to win, Shinryu appealed Chaos,
giving the god of discord a chance to obtain revenge
against the one who betrayed him.
Now the cycles have begun again,
and the warriors trapped.
It is now the 21st cycle.
And the last hope for them lies not here
But in another world.

The moon rose silently, breaking free from the bonds that held it obscured from our sight during the day. Steadily it rose and upon nearing its zenith, some shadows fled. What the moon now bathed in silver light was the very thing we had anticipated for generations.
The oracle had spoke of it, its time ever nearing. The wind rose chanting now now' to any whom would listen.
Little did we know how small a thing could shape and fashion our lives, re-weaving it upon the loom of life, bending us this way then that, changing the pattern and in the end creating something altogether new.
Each one of us had a hand in it. We were nothing more than a thread of color that was guided into the fabric without our even being aware of it, at least not in the dawning of the mystical things. The changes about to alter our landscape and us... forever.

Does anybody know that besides god?
Is someone out there who can tell me?
Or do I have to do die and ask god, maybe?
Question over question flying through my brain.
If I don’t find perfection, will my life be in vain?
Everyone had flaws and makes mistakes.
Maybe I have to lower the stakes.
I’m looking for one, just one perfect thing only.
But as time goes by even I get lonely.
Cold and empty, but beating is my heart.
I want perfection, even if it’s just a shard!
Moving on as the time passes me by.
No perfection, no matter how far I fly.
Each and every place, no perfection there.
Can humans be perfect and worlds rightful heir?
Now I am standing close to the edge, full of fear.
Suddenly it comes to me, I smile and see it clear.
No matter how and where you grow up, you are perfection.
Because you are only you and not someones copy or reflection.

it is easier if you accept the voices.

Well I'll tell you something now they're wrong. You do see some memories bits of the past that you held on to and preserved because they were painful or precious. But they don't whiz past like children on a fairground ride, oh no. They stay. They captivate you, hold you in the moment, each second dragged out and extended, giving you more pain or pleasure than you ever thought could be felt. Each sight sharp with colour and clearer than sunlight on snow. You remember the musky scent that made you shiver every time he was nearby. His hands, rough and calloused from years of honest living. You remember exactly how soft their skin was when you held them in your arms for the first time, and the sound of their laughter years later. ApocalypseContrary to popular misconception, the end of the world is not global warming, a nuclear fallout, or a mechanical uprising. Zombies do not erupt from their graves, aliens do not suddenly decide to invade. There are no horsemen, vengeful Gods or wayward comets. Lightning does not smote the wicked and angels do not lead the worthy to peace. The end of the world is not a mass disaster; there is no exploding sun, tidal wave or earthquake. Instead, it is those quiet moments happening all over the world, every day.Apocalypse1 year ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This

It wasn’t easy to convince the neighbour to let her have the old fence palings, either; nor the logs that had been earmarked for a bonfire, but a few hearty fibs and her best “I just want to help my daddy” smile went a long way to convincing them.
Two weeks later, she had bruised hands, a lot of knowledge about how not to use a hammer, and what she hoped would pass for a half-decent raft. She packed herself a bag with some clothes and spare underwear, then packed another bag, this one larger and wheeled, with as much canned food as she could carry. The remaining days till new years eve were somewhat chaotic and rushed. Between me moving to the new place, my parents calling for explanations about why my cousin had a Battle Skin, and the whole mountain of paperwork and the like I had to go through, mixed along the fact that I was actually trying to keep up with the scheduled training and had to go through two to three fights a day to earn some money so I could save up some cash... I was beat up, tired and sore in more ways than I had thought even possible.
"Don't be such a wuss." Jade stared down at me as I lay lifeless on the new couch in our new flat. "Who doesn't celebrate new year?"
"I do." I replied, all too tired to actually do anything. "I wanted to go with my family, but it would risk me having to reveal about my Battle Skin." I sighed in frustration. "I had to make up a lame excuse about finding a new job to be able to pay rent."
"I heard." she simply commented. "You still seemed mad about something."
