I'll admit. I spend too much time walking while looking at the ground.
Sometimes, I try really hard to perhaps look beyond that; I wanted maybe to see if something really exists below us, as I was told when I was younger. It's a valid query. It's cold nowadays, and maybe I just wanted to go somewhere warmer.
No matter the circumstance, I'm always pensive. In thought. Especially when I'm looking at my feet. I could look elsewhere.
Ahead of me.
There's no time to stop to enjoy that nowadays. What's surrounding me anyways. I'm always terribly busy, and so is everyone else. We're scheduled as human beings, and every minute late is a dollar lost. Besides. Looking up when in thought usually is observed as being nostalgic, or perhaps even being seen caught in a day dream. Both of these things are far from what I spend my time doing while in my grotto of thought.
I don't want you
Mias and Elle - Chapter 5Too flustered from the dream and startled by Mias' sudden appearance to reply, Elle just clutched at her heaving chest and glared at him, detesting his presence more than she ever had before. She looked at him and felt exposed and violated. Even though her logic told her that it could not have actually happened, the surge of terror and adrenaline was causing her to have difficulty deciphering dream from reality.Mias and Elle - Chapter 53 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
Hugging the sheets up to her shoulders, Elle looked away from him to avoid any eye contact. Looking into Mias' eyes was just something she could not ever bring herself to do, and she hated how it emphasised her fear of him.
"Something the matter, pet?"
"No," She sputtered harshly. "Sod off."
Just don't look at him... Why was it so hard?
The sound of Mias clicking his tongue at her in disapproval was perhaps just, but only served to make her even more uncomfortable. Though he was only being his usual cocky self, she could not help but feel that he knew exactly what was go

I glanced over my shoulder at the sound of his voice, the other young medic quickly entering our tent. He wasn't like the other soldiers around here, stiff and serious. Instead, he was carefree and wielded a smile on his face. Though happy to see him, I continue to frown, simply nodding my head to him.

Pomegranate Seeds Persephone hugged her knees as the cold stone she sat upon slowly numbed her. Never before had she noticed stone, having spent her life in fields and meadows. Wide open spaces, the soft flowing grasses, the cool shade of the trees, the warm soil, and the heat of the sun warming the hard stone. Light from the torches flickered, giving some illumination to the otherwise black room. In her meadows at home, if it were ever this dark, she could look up at the stars and the moon. Night was something she never feared, but this darkness now haunted her. It was inescapable. Helios would not ride across the Tartarus sky bringing light to this world of death. No one ever escaped Hades and the Underworld. Persephone was no goddess. She was a demi-god, daughter of Demeter an

As some of you may already know, my name is Hiccup, and I happen to live in what may be known as the coldest place on Earth: Berk. You may wonder why live somewhere where winter is really the only season and you get hailed on for months straight every year? Well, the only way I really can explain it is that we are Vikings: the most stubborn beings known to man. But what can I say,... it's an occupational hazard!
Now it may sound all bad, but there are a few upsides that make living here tolerable. For instance, we have beautiful scenery, decent fishing, a plentiful supply of fresh water, but what I like most has definitely got be are fellow island inhibitors Dragons. Thanks to my friend Toothless, this is now the mutually shared home of Vikings and dragons alike. If you weren't aware of previous events in Berk history a couple of years back, dragons were actually the fundamental reason of all our dilemmas. It is now safe to say that that problem is over
PennyI once had a penny.Penny4 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
It was shiny, made in '20.
I held on to that penny
Til I was 23.
I met a girl whose name was Jenny,
And she reminded me of penny,
With her copper hair flowing
So nice and free.
I also knew a man named Benny.
He was real good friends with Jenny,
And I just didn't want
Him and her to be.
So I took my lucky penny,
Dipped in arsenic, covered plenty,
And gave it to dear Benny
For him to keep.
Then there was only me and Jenny,
and our good times, they were plenty.
She always came over
To visit me.
But she had a friend named Kenny.
He was an officer, knew a man named Benny.
He locked me up and
Threw away the key.
Now my age is thirty,
I've a new penny and it's dirty.
Gonna dip it in some arsenic
And count to four.

Who had built up her nest in my humble house
She had thin large ears, strange feet, and a tail
But a humanoid body which looked small and frail
She surprised me one day upon returning from work
Having waited all day with a sweet little smirk
I didn't quite know what to do or to say
And she gave no response to my jaw-dropped dismay
She was a strange critter, there was no denying
And her white mouse-like ears, I couldn't stop eying
She looked up to me with a sweet little grin
And said, "now that you're here, we can begin
Life will be easy with me living here
I'll give you all you may want to hold dear
Be careful, however for my life is short
But what ever's your dream, I will support
So, give it a try,
And please don't be shy
It's all at your fingertips, so what do you want?"
To which I replied, "cute girls and a great job to flaunt"
I admit my tone was really sarcastic
And I wasn't at all enthusiastic

The next morning is a cold, dank kind of dawn. Cody wakes before his sister. Around him, the basement is in almost pure darkness, but Cody has good night vision. He clambers out of the bed of canvas cloths, pulls on his trainers and carefully shuffles in the direction of a thin sliver of grey light. On reaching the latter, he catches hold of a thick black curtain and tugs it aside. Pale light explodes into the store-room, and in a corner, something dark and furry scampers away into the shadows that cling to the walls. Cody watches it run but does not bother chasing it, knowing that it is most probably out of his reach already. His gaze shifts instead to the dark lump of canvas that is his sister sleeping.
In the drab early morning light that filters through the tiny glassless window, Cody's face is revealed starkly. His features are younger now that he's not being a parent to his sister. His black hair is starting to cover the tops of his ears, but it does nothing to h

A sin in the eyes of religion
But it's a battle some cannot win
The ones that win
Look at those who lose
As weak since they have no will
I've given in multiple times
Does that make me weak?
I don't think so
We all have our faults,
We indulge ourselves
In sweets, violence,
It's tempting us
We fall to our knees in weakness
It's just how we were made
It's okay to crave certain things
As long as it doesn't end up
Being a priority over everything
You've gotta admit
Something tempts you
Whether it be
Food, a person,
or a lifestyle
But don't give in to it
Temptation's a bitch
It's hard to deal with
So just don't try it
Walk away from it.

Two men in white tuxedos, with black sunglasses and gloves were busy at the controls of their secret sector in The Woods of Lake Eerie, only a few miles east of Amity Park. This location was well hidden from prying eyes, including invisible ones: namely, ghosts' eyes. Not that it mattered. The one ghost that these ghost-hunters were targeting didn't even seem to want to find them.

The only noise he made was his cane tapping the ground

The children were running up behind him; it seems that he's been found.

He did not stop to give them treats nor did his pace quicken.
He merely flashed a skeletal smile which was enough to sicken.
The children screamed and dropped their bags and turned around and fled.
They jumped over fences and stomps through the flower beds.
The skeleton stood alone almost letting a tear fall,
