In this toolbox you will find helpful tips for digital typography. For those of you new to the topic, let's start with a short explanation
Typography is the art and technique of arranging type in order to make language visible.
Pretty simple, eh? Basically as you are reading this you are "reading typography". What I will refer to in this article is digital artistic typography, though. This is not the everday typography you see on street signs, books or on websites.
It can be anything! Which is amazing and scary at the same time
Here's a little overview of this article:

Check out the newCRTextAndTypography Challenge
The main objective of this challenge is to evaluate the appropiate interaction between meaning, words, lettering and typefaces. The goal is to create a type treatment, or typographical logo, that focuses on one word or phrase as its main focus.
The idea is to find a movie or tv show logo that uses Trajan and give it a possibly more appropiate type treatment instead. You will find Trajan is used in a lot of movies and it has sort of become "The Hollywood Font".

* October 9th, 1940
† December 8th, 1980
As founding member of The Beatles, he, Paul, George & Ringo wrote history. The 'mopheads' from Liverpool, UK, set out to conquer and change the world. Up until their break-up in 1970 John Lennon and Paul McCartney became one of the most successful songwriter couples in history.
After The Beatles, he continued his solor career and wrote his signature song "Imagine" – the dream of a better world. He spent his last years in the USA, moving between New York and Los Angeles.
On December 8th, 1980, he was shot in front of his New York apartment.
Let's take a moment to remember John Lennon, who he was and what he did, and enjoy the art created to honour him.

Devil's in the Details CompetitionCompetition Status: CLOSEDDevil's in the Details Competition2 years ago in Personal More Like This
For my 15th literature competition I want to challenge people to do something that may benefit their writing, so I present to you all the Devil's in the Detail Competition.
I'm challenging you to think of something that a person has to do at least once a month, but it could be every minute of every day, and then put it in a fantasy environment.
Brushing your teeth if you are a vampire
Walking your dog onboard a space station
The challenge is really to focus your mind on how your characters behave and interact with their environments and how the environment being different than yours (the writers) can affect how they do those things. Hopefully this will come in handy for you even if you don't write in the fantasy genre, because its all about character development.
This competition will close on August 17th, that's just over three weeks away.

I'm a prime example of an introverted person: I've never liked to be in the center of attention, however I also hated being isolated. I prefer to keep my distance but I can also be really passionate about things around me. A gentle dichotomy...

Traditional Tuesdays #60Welcome to the 60th of this article. I hope you enjoy and find new things to love! I can honestly say that I didn't think it would last this long. The night I started this feature, I was bored and just browsing around the Traditional Gallery. I was finding all kinds great artwork, that for one reason or another I couldn't/wouldn't give a DD. It could be because they had a DD recently, but mainly it was for a link to go back and see what they created next, and if they took it to the next level. Now it's more for artwork that I no longer have time to DD, I can't DD everything! I still find the article fun to do, and I'll keep doing it until it no longer is. So.... here is fifteen works of art that I thought you should see. I can't trust all of you all with anymore awesomeness, you might hurt yourself! Anyway, on with the show!Traditional Tuesdays #602 years ago in Art Features More Like This

Brand NewA brand new year is about to begin.Brand New1 year ago in Personal More Like This
2013 was quite a nice year for me. There wasn't too much to complain about the whole while.
I got a teaching job over the summer and got my tutoring job back in the fall. My sister did move away, all the way to the other side of the country, but I did get to travel about halfway with her and her dogs, which was quite an adventure. She's traveling back home in January and I am making plans to go see her and her wife in April. My boyfriend of over five years joined the National Guard and went away for over two months, and then I traveled down to see him and added a few new states to my belt. Spent a lot of time with family and a bit of time with friends. Created a shop online to sell my gnomes and branched out from there and started making other figurines and jewelry. I just spent about a week with my boyfriend, who is now home, and his family for the holidays. And I'm currently getting ready to go to a

Custom Breaking Bad FiguresCustom Breaking Bad Figures3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Last year I sculpted up a few portraits of Bryan Cranston as Walter White from my favorite show "Breaking Bad". I was finally able to put the finishing touches on 3 custom figures of Walt, all of which were given to the creators of the show this past week.
It's been a helluva lot of fun, and a tremendous thrill to get to meet the artists behind this terrific show that has been so inspiring to me. Kinder people you will not meet!
So here's a look at the finished custom figures. These were pieced together from various sources, using Hot Toys bodies, and clothes I found on ebay and then altered. The heads were all painted by some talented friends of mine, and they really brought Walt to life. It's been a lot of work to try and piece these together in my free time, but I really enjoyed doing it.
ps- A random winner was chosen from my last giveaway. I'll do another giveaway in the coming months, I'm sure. thanks!

Photomanipulation Rockstars: MortequePhotomanipulation Rockstars: Morteque2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
As an artist, Morteque has wowed us for years with her lovely use of light and darkness in her dark- and emotional-themed manipulations. In recent years, she has expanded her portfolio to include work as a cover artist. But who is Morteque? Recently, she offered me a glimpse into her world, and I wanted to share her with you.
How do you feel your own art has evolved in the time you've been on dA? Do you feel you’ve grown as an artist, and if so, in what ways?
Oh yes, I have been part of dA for almost 6 years now! I started like an absolute amateur; the time spent here helped me a lot. Creating photomanipulations was just a hobby for me, and if someone would have told me back then that I would be working on a professional level with different people now - photographers, models, authors, etc., I would definitely have not believed them. I feel like I have grown in many ways - as an artist I have developed my skills

It has been a great honor to interview Alexandra, AlexandraVBach, for the third installment of our "Legends of Photomanipulation" series. Alex has been with us on deviantART for more than 9 years and is known for her dark work and also for her fantasy creations. She is a professional artist from France, and she has inspired thousands of people (myself included) with her intense photomanipulations.
