I look at you like a cat that is unknowingly trying to imitate an emote.
As your approach comes to an end you put your arms out. Both going past my body on either side.
Then simply, "Hug?"
I do not comprehend this word, your intent nor punctuation.
Your arms tighten around me and your chin rests on my shoulder.
I stand there
what is this new emotion.

the sun, newborn crying,

a maze of feathery canopy;

grass covered savannahs,
stubborn windblown maize
to the river, where
water walking fish farmer
casts a drowsy eye
on a school of tilapia
playing in his bamboo den;
a kihuta viper opens
its razor mouth

palm stem walls blanketing

When We Die Holding HandsWhen We Die Holding Hands11 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
My heart stood still on that Midnight
You At the window in the dark
Your shadow standing still as the thunder struck the earth
The blade clinched in your hand
Your eyes black but beautiful
Your tears and blood swirled on the floor
Your expression silent and lifeless the way the reaper left you for me to discover
I picked up the blade
I kissed your cheek and closed your eyes and carried you to the bed
I lay beside you and cried and tried to stop your bleeding
Here you are now dead, Just the way life liked you
Here you are now dead, The way life robbed me of how I loved you
Here you are now dead, The ultimate price everyone had to pay
Here you are now dead, So many words the reaper would not let me tell you
So now I must whisper my sweet sorrow and unforgiven secrets to you
So now I must hide your scars and try to heal and comfort what is left of you
So now I must pick up your pieces and fix your lifeless body
So now I must live in misery as you conceitedly took your own life as well too

And a dad who sold microscopes,
He slid out one Friday night.
His heart jump-started by electrical shock,
Thrown into incubation and kept under lock,
He spent three months in that cold tank.
Suddenly, ethereal hands grasped his tender thighs,
Dragging him out from mechanical skies,
Lucy took him home and tossed him into bed.
As he lay there, with eyes fluorescent blue,
He found the environment strikingly new;
But did it even matter where he was?
When he awoke the next morning,
He let out a guttural cry for some milk;
A maid gritted her teeth and mixed the formula.
Manufactured milk doesn't taste as sweet,
As that processed from a mother's teat;
But when it's all you have, it's good enough.
And when he needed an urgent change of clothes,
It was done because of the olfactory, not the nose;
He was made to be clean on Inspection Day.
Oftentimes at night he would attempt to dream,
Wishful thoughts puffing away like steam,
It's hard to imagine being a

When I daydream in the middle of the day
When I sit and write my poetry
When I look into the digital sea that is the internet
When I smile or laugh at a joke with no meaning
When I zone out
When I lie down for the night
When I stare into the complete darkness before I depart to the land of dreams
I try to climb a wall to the rope that will allow me to escape
But the walls are to smooth
Patted down with the solid and smooth surface of pain
This thing I call life
Am I any good at it?
Am I going to fail as predetermined by the world?
Am I going to end and be represented as the nothingness that I see?
I try to escape these harsh questions
But low and behold they follow me as if I packed them
Maybe I did
Between the socks and shirts . No
With the toothbrush . No
I think I packed it in the deep subconscious of the maze I call my mind
Unfortunately for me there is no escape

Still noon in the paddy fields
in Kerala, we sank a well
to stem the flow of desert,
but came up smelling of dust.
Watched rice plants wither as the slow sun
silenced resolve in angry glare,
and warm dry gusts scattered
hope to the four corners.
In Palakkad, an empty street, sold
to ten million-dollar-a-day death,
men nurse wounds and children.
The women have gone to find water-
when the supply runs altogether dry,
we may find out how to swallow
the dust. Or our pride. Lesson taught,
we shall learn to drink coke.
Still noon in the baking heat
within the walled compound, we
stand around on wounded feet
spreading slurry on the ground.
So here, at least, is water
(to dampen a capital purse)
So here we earn our living -
a litre a day (could be worse).
Outside, the world is barren,
the earth is cracked and bare.
As boreholes tap our reservoirs
at last we've learnt to share.
So desert soil is progress,
and bitter stench is joy.
Infected feet dance to the beat

1 This is how you will know to mark the young among men,
for this is the prayer they pray, again and again.
2 It is these who should be marked and minted into lives worth being spent.
3 These are the words they speak in vain,
"Our father who art in us, tradition be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, in me as it is in him.
Give us this day our lovely sins1—those of youth and innocence.
And forgive us our deviance, as we forgive those who differ from us.
And lead us not into similarity, but deliver us from the collective.
For thine is the prison, and the scorn, aimed at abnormal men."2

Quest of the Mystic Knight Part I : Darkness Abounds
Dark demons conjured from their dank tomb
Spreading evil - at the Order of Satan's wish for gloom
Across meadows flowering this wave of fire goes breathing
Scorching everything beautiful – everything living.
Lightlessness creeps over a land left barren
Obstructing even the brilliance of heaven
However a fair maiden wanders aimlessly
Over the desolate landscape vigilantly.
Amidst the ruin she finds a single lily flourishing
Glowing brilliant still amongst the decaying
A sign of life still untouched by the devastation
A sign of beauty purity hope and salvation.
From ashes of Lucifer also rises in beauty
A new Hero – A New Glory to battle this Evil Entity
The danger lies not within His also rising Wisps
It lies within ourselves, are we willing to help what He risks?

from these ruined words.
Continents shift slowly. They are
dirt-bound titans, these beasts;
rootless giants that mold themselves
to fit the vision we hold inside our heads. Oceans sigh

dark shapes of water

Morning doves sing because they see what we cannot:
the years between us laid out like miles and our feet
that never mark the reddened earth and
the passion-trees birthing flowers of such cold, untamed souls.

I once longed to meet you,
To finally get the courage to say a word.
My lips part and I say that word.
Now I have met you.
I once longed to know you,
To know you heart and dreams.
To know the way you longed for me too.
Now I know you.
I once longed to hear your voice,
You voice which calms me so.
The soft whisper of a secret wish.
Now I hear your voice.
I once longed for your touch,
The sweet, soft warmth of your hands,
The silent thought of romance.
Now I feel your touch.
I once longed for you,
To meet you and know you,
To hear you and feel you.
Now I have you.
Just one more dance,
Just one more song.
This time I won't let go,
This time I won't let go.

Walk away from pain
Eventhough you turn your shoulder to look back
Feel your freedom coming
Slowly running up that hill
Where purple flowers remind you
You should escape long ago
Finally you know
You knew it all this time
It was not worth the efford
You are not a God to ressurect
No more heroic deeds
Slowly running up that hill
Where purple flowers remind you
You will find something else
Brighter than before

I see upon a hill,
the setting sun, fleeing from the night...
The moon coming above that horizon for the kill,
to rise and banish to darkness all light.
Though time brushes over creation,
I live on, a slave to immortality.
Though I was the choser of my own damnation,
Twas humanity that was the cause of my brutality.
Now the world around me decays,
unlike my flesh and mind...
Time has left my future in a haze,
and the changing world has been unkind.
I see upon a hill, but another slope downward,
where the pointless journey continues on...
unto to no end is my existence forever moving forward
Nostalgia is dead, as my past is forever gone.

Sometimes people remind
me of machines.
They go about calling
facts of the task at hand
to mind in bleak
We condone convention
to panegyric oaths
mouthed in boredom
by shameless shamans.
"Thanks for a job jolly
well done," becomes our epitaph,
and the joke of history
is, "I think
I . . . huh?"
