Tips on: How to make an original species?I got asked by a few people but I wrote out this response to jasper-chan's ask on my tumblr. since it's all written out I feel like it'd be at least somewhat appreciated to those who are curious of what I keep in mind while making an original speciesTips on: How to make an original species?9 months ago in Personal More Like This
WARNING it's a little messy but if you are confused then feel free to ask me questions I'll do my best to answer properly
In general I’d suggest to think "what physical characteristics should be involved with my species? and how can i make it unique?"
for a species to be a species (especially closed species) there should be at least some distinctive physical trait that they're born with.
imo it’s not a very good species if they can take off what would make them a species. for example, a group of kemonomimis that likes to wear a specific fashion is more of a culture than a species. I wouldn’t add their fashion into their main descrip
That Green Eyed MonsterI’m not afraid to admit that I have been jealous of fellow artists. Jealous of their skill, their handling of material, their ability to make whatever they were doing “work,” and even jealous of their recognition. But, while jealousy can be a good motivator to push yourself harder, it can eat away at your self-esteem and damage your work. I got the initial idea to write an article about this after reading a news article about Florida artist Maximo Caminero. Caminero was arrested last week after smashing a vase part of Chinese artist Ai Wei Wei’s exhibition in Pérez Art Museum Miami… in the gallery. For those of you unfamiliar with Ai Wei Wei:That Green Eyed Monster10 months ago in Art Features More Like This

Monster High customization FAQSince many of you fellow watchers have asked me what materials do I use to paint the Monster High dolls, here are few tips and winks for you to start your very own MH custom doll. :3Monster High customization FAQ3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Please note that these are only the methods what I use and what I've learned from reading tutorials and discussing about these with other MH doll repainters. Methods do vary depending on people and their working methods and materials what they want to use. I've painted Asian Balljointed Dolls from year 2006, and whatever I use to paint resin, I use to paint MH dolls as well.
Please, be cautious to use anything with oil or acetone on it! Oil is very bad for resin, and just to be extra careful with these small and fragile MH dolls, please try not to use anything which has oil or acetone in it. :3
What to use to removed the factory paint?
♥ I use acetone free nailpolish remover and a cotton pad to take the factory paint off. After I have cleaned the head and limbs from the factory paint, I
ARTIST'S BLOCK - HOW TO BEAT ITHow do you deal with "Artist's Block?"ARTIST'S BLOCK - HOW TO BEAT IT1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I don't care who you are, or how well you draw, one of these days, the Art Block Fairy is going to pay you a little visit. When that day comes, ideas will be scarcer than possums driving pickup trucks. Despite the randomness of that metaphor, how you handle artist's block will decide when you'll get those creative juices flowing again. Some of you will decide to pause and have a snack. I can tell you from experience that this doesn't do much to kick-start the imagination. When that doesn't work, there's always the option of getting a second snack. But eventually, you'll get too frustrated and too full to keep doing that. There's got to be another solution. So you decide to follow the prevailing wisdom, which is to go for a walk to refresh yourself, in the hopes that inspiration might return. The walk is pleasant, but almost mythical in its fecklessness. If walks worked, the beach would be teaming with cartoonists and write

HELPFUL HINT #2 - HOW TO COMPLETE YOUR PET PROJECTWant to improve your drawing skills - maybe even finish a project, like a graphic novel of a comic, but you're too bsy with work or school? There's a simple solution to this common problem. I learned it from a friend - a well-known Hollywood screenwriter:HELPFUL HINT #2 - HOW TO COMPLETE YOUR PET PROJECT1 year ago in Personal More Like This
You have to work on your project every day - HOWEVER - limit it to one hour. That's right. Just one hour a day. And to do this, steal an hour in the morning by starting your day just one hour earlier. And devote 60 minutes to your artwork. You'll find that the consistency of doing it every day - even if it's only for an hour - will result in real progress. A few months passes, and before you know it, you're done. That's how my screenwriter-friend was able to complete two projects at the same time.
Remember - IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PAGE COUNT. What do I mean by that? Simply that it doesn't matter if, one week, you end up with only 2 pages of good material, or 5 pages, just keep adding those pages!

SPECIES | COMPASSOCompassoSPECIES | COMPASSO9 months ago in Personal More Like This
Ever feel like you've lost direction in your life? Don't know where you are, where you're going, or where you're supposed to be? Then you are a perfect candidate for a Compasso!
What are Compasso?
Compasso are creatures born from those who are lost. Their one purpose is to help their host find what they need to find!
What they need to find? Like a lost pair of shoes?
No!! Go find those yourself! Compasso are meant to find what a person may not even realize they need or are looking for. Things like a sense of purpose, friendship, love, revenge... You get the idea!
Well how the hell do they do that?
Great question! Compasso are born with an innate sense of direction. While they may not realize what they are helping a person find, they do know the general idea of where to go to achieve it. Their job is to guide a person to that goal, so it involves a little give and tak

Interested in Pokemon sketch commissions? ClosedUpdate! I really want Pokémon X or Y. But simply don't have the cash for it and I do not own a 3DS. Any way it will cost me about 200 euro's if I want them.
So I was thinking to raise the money by doing sketch commissions. I can make these in the train while going to my work, so I can finish them quicker than normal commisions.
I'll make a realistic version of the Pokémon you like, what ever pose you like. You can also tell me on what kind of real life animals you want the Pokémon to be based on.
I was thinking for one Pokémon
15$ for a pencil sketch,
20$ for an inked version
30$ for a flat colored version, done in photoshop. I
How Do You Comic? (Post Your Questions~)We're finally nearing the conclusion of the Lavender Town arc, and once I finish this last update, I plan to take a short hiatus from comic drawing so that I can work on some mini-projects instead (mostly Kick@$$ related)--one of which includes guides for creating nuzlocke comics~How Do You Comic? (Post Your Questions~)1 year ago in Personal More Like This
You might remember that about a month ago I posted a poll asking what people were interested in learning. Well, now's your chance to ask me exactly what you want to know, whether it be general advice for starting your own unique pokemon story or help overcoming problems in your existing story; any pointers on plot, characters, or anything art related. There are no stupid questions. Only stupid people~
The reason I'm doing this is because it helps me to figure out where the main areas of concern are so that I can address them in my guides. I don't claim to be the ultimate guru when it comes to creating comics, but anything I can't answe

when Practice Doesn't Make Perfect--You're determined, diligent, driven. You try hard to improve your drawing skills. But, just like everyone else at some point in their artistic career, you've hit a wall. So you work harder, study more how-to-draw books, more videos, and more reference material. Yet the wall seems to be getting higher and higher... What do you do? Do you take a sabbatical from drawing? Eat a pint of ice cream? Decide to become an accountant instead?when Practice Doesn't Make Perfect--1 year ago in Personal More Like This
No, my friends. There's a solution. It's just that most people don't know it. But now you will. When the wall hits, put away your how-to-draw books temporarily (did i just say that?), videos and reference materials. Get out of the "learning" mode, and into the mode of the imagination. It's time to draw - anything. That's right, anything that pops into your mind, whatever moves you. No "trying" to improve, and no self-judgements. Just draw for the pleasure of drawing. It's also a time to explore and try new subjects. Maybe you have

Bambole di Fiori
The Toy-maker was an old man who resided in Sicily, Italy. His hand was often hired by newlywed couples, in hopes that he would craft toys for their yet-to-be children. As always, he’d work throughout the night and pay heed to every detail.
Being an old man out of touch from the world he would envy every couple’s longevity and happiness. Any time he had to himself between commissions he’d fashion wind up dolls to mimic the looks of these blissful, paragons of beauty.
Not having any children to take care of he had plenty of love and attention for the
