I do have a story behind this painting, but instead of words, I leave you with this picture alone. I wonder what your interpretations would be :)

Original size: 6000x9000px; done from scratch in Photoshop with some aid from Painter. This piece was a challenge, mainly to get the technique and mood work together. It took me a LOT of time, especially to get all those little details right.

Oh, paint the white of my wedding dress grieving black
For a widow I am, not a bride!
Mourning over my youth forever buried in the depths of these tombs,
As a flower dies without a sip of dew,
I wither away without the warm breath of my beloved sun.

Well, that's an outcome of a non stop few day work. I have decided, that I need to work a LOT on the anatomy and skin shading of my characters, and so I tried, in this one, to work the hardest I can on it.
I have done a lot of studies (mainly consisting of looking at myself in a mirror ;P), tries etc before even beginning to work on this.

I cannot, unfortunately, publish a full WIP of the work, as it's going to be published soon, but I am still sharing some sketches and closeups and a tiny tutorial :)

I believe that the biggest of dreams, sincerest of wishes originate not from our hopes but from our fears, as only the danger of losing something makes us realize what it is that we truly desire.
As we grow older our attitude, priorities and aspirations change. With time some dreams will fade and new ones will appear.

Each of the four creatures symbolizes a dream of mine. And now I wonder - what will be the fifth?

I intended this piece to be meaningful on many levels. Aside from the personal content I tried to hide behind the symbols, the looser painting technique embodies a style I always aspired to, yet never managed to fully employ in any painting. Lastly, I hope the piece brought to you thoughts of Salvador Dali… Temptation of Saint Anthony hangs above my desk and is always a great inspiration in times of need.

Done in Painter 6 and Photoshop CS in around 70 hours with some ref help. I will post a link to WIPs/closeups and the like soon :-)

Hello everyone,

After a longer absence, again something inspired by mythology - this time it's Pandora. If you don't know the story, you can go here: [link]

A sketch created mainly for the purpose of practicing lighting turned out to look quite ok, so I ended up finishing it. I had loads of fun painting this one and it went along rather smoothly, too :)

For those of you who read descriptions, here's a link to some screenshots I've taken during painting: [link]

Created fully in Photoshop with a little bit of Painter.

Lately I have been working on a series of tutorials for IMAGINEFX by Future publishing.
This artwork was made specifically for the Gown Painting and Decorating Tutorial.

The tutorial covers the detailed process of painting the whole dress, starting with a basic sketch to coloring and decorating with lace and embroidery.

So... if you want to see how this was done, check out IMAGINEFX Issue 3! :)

The image was done in Painter 7 with some aid from Photoshop CS2 (stone textures); around a week of hard work ;)

Hello there ;)

Following my new year's resolutions to update more often, here I am.

Well OK, it's cheating, since this piece has been done in 2010 for Digital Artist mag, issue 12 (I think). You can see the "making of" process there.

Done in Photoshop in loads and loads of hours. I've used an airbrush quite extensively for detailing, which was a new thing for me.

Used some refs for the flowers and gold elements, as well as posed in the mirror for quite a bit until I got the pose right. That's about it :)

I did ths picture some time ago, decided to submit it sooner, because it will take part in the Digital Artists Summit Digital Illustration Contest :) Wish me luck!

If you do not know the myth of Eros and Psyche, I propose you try this link: [link]

I hope you like it :) It was definitely the most time consuming project I ever did.

A different style, different tonation, lots of refs used, few dozen hours spent. Heavy Mucha inspirations can be spotted especially in the frame:)

Created fully in Adobe Photoshop

PS. I uploaded a slightly fixed version~

For a while now I wanted to paint a portrait with a sort of sad hint... I chose loneliness.

This piece has challenged me in so many ways. The amount of detail almost drove me crazy, also I have never painted an Asian, nor a child for that matter, so it took a lot, lot, lot of work.

The piece was done entirely in Painter and Photoshop. Two weeks of hard hard work.

Here are 3 refs which really helped me in the stylization: [link]

Ah, it's been a long while, hasn't it :) I have a new cast for my right wrist which allows me to paint, so here is the next from the Sins :)

GLUTTONY is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

Why didn't I draw anything disgusting? Well, I wanted to prove myself I can keep to the original "idea" of a glutton, WHILE making the character aesthetic, pretty and (in her way) attractive. I wanted to prove the modern "pretty=thin to the bone" standard wrong. ;)

Some symbolic explanations:
Abundance of textiles - I treat this sin not only as eating and drinking, but consuming in it's wider meaning, such as buying and gathering useless things etc
Grapes - "luxury" goods, connected with lavish parties (in ancient times) etc
The pink colour theme - reminds me of grapes, sweets etc :)

I hope you like this one, as it was definitely the hardest one to balance and get "right".
