"Wake up, Mitsumi."
Mitsumi opened her eyes. The sky extended forever above her, dotted by islands of land. The grass swayed around her. It took a few moments for her to realize where she was.
She stood up and looked around. Although the sky was beautiful, she noticed a greater proliferation of purple clouds around her. The conditions here were worsening. It almost broke her heart to think about it.
Who had spoken? Mitsumi turned around, surveying everything around her, but there was nobody. It had been his voice, all right, but he was nowhere to be seen.
She noticed something on an island in the distance. It was a house his house! But compared to where she was, the house was up-side down
"I've got to get over there " she said. The island was very far away. She doubted she'd be able to make it if she jumped
Mitsumi backed up in order to get a running start. Then she dashed forward, taking a flying leap off the edge. Her momentum carried her well through th

For the past week it had been raining on and off. Mitsumis mother simply blamed the infamous Colorado weather for the oddity, but Mitsumi had her doubts. It was probably just her over-reactive imagination.
Mitsumi disliked rain. She couldnt ride her bike through her hometown. She couldnt walk to her friends house, which was a few streets away. She couldnt go to the outdoor mall. Although it did give her an excuse to play video games all day, shed already beaten most of the ones she had. The ones she hadnt beaten had gotten boring after a while. After all, how do you beat Nintendogs?
This sucks, Mitsumi said that Sunday, staring out the window at the pelting rain, I want a real adventure.
Mitsumis dream was to be a Pokémon trainer. She knew that Pokémon didnt exist, but that didnt stop her from imagining what it would be like. She had almost all of the games, all

The truth was that Mitsumi actually didnt know how to get to Sandgem. It couldnt possibly have been like the games, where the walk from your house to the Sandgem Pokémon Center took about two minutes. With a bike it was probably quicker than that.
Mitsumi turned left off of Lum Lane and onto what appeared to be a main street. She took a deep breath and started walking. She looked around in awe, unable to believe what she was seeing. Was this really Twinleaf Town? It was so much smaller in the games, only four houses but then, she assumed that everything had to be smaller in the games to make them playable.
I wish I had a map, she said with a sigh.
Hey there! said a voice, You look a little lost.
Mitsumi turned. A boy about her age was leaning on a mailbox in front of a house not unlike her own. He had short, messy blond hair, friendly orange eyes, and a kind smile. He was dressed in a long-sleeved shirt with orange and w

Cyrus threw a black and green Pokéball with a red ring around its center into the air. From it came a small, cunning Pokémon that resembled both a cat and an elf. Mitsumi realized that it was the very same Sneasel that Cyrus had used when they traveled together through Mt. Coronet.
Sneasel, take no chances. Ice punch!
Rotom, lets do this! Shock wave!
Sneasel dashed forward and punched Rotom hard with an icy fist. Rotom staggered a little before letting loose another wave of electricity. Sneasel was hit!
It seems like an even match no matter. Sneasel, shadow claw.
But before Mitsumi could give a command, Rotom unleashed a flurry of sharp leaves and a gust of wind. The attack took Sneasel, Cyrus, and Mitsumi by surprise. Sneasel was knocked backwards before it could attack, but it quickly got back to its feet. Despite the shock of the attack, it hadnt been very effective on Sneasel.

A few minutes later, Mitsumi and Pocchama were on the road and on their journey. Mitsumi could hardly believe what had happened in the past two days. Shed gone to sleep one night, and woke up in a place she could only imagine. Everything had happened so quickly: shed met Ayako, her mother, shed made friends with Jun, shed traveled by foot to Sandgem and back, shed gotten a Pokémon of her very own, and she made friends with Lukas. It made her mind spin. She was starting to like this new life, and was afraid that one morning she would wake up and be back in her own world, with the alarm clock jerking her awake at 6:30. But then again, she missed her family. Were they missing her? She could only wonder what was going on at her home, in Colorado.
Mitsumi waved the memories and thoughts away. She was here, in this world. She may as well enjoy it while she could.
Even though were excited to start, said Mitsumi, half to herself
