AngerHow Loathed is the man with angerAnger2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
That cannot keep the beast locked inside!
The man is loathed, until that is
That that man is you.
You want to scream and thrash
And howl toward the moon
Like the beast you are.
You want to cower and fan the flames
Until it becomes a bonfire.
Devouring the Kindle, ready to burn
The small angers in your heart.
You want to crush the helpless
And make the innocent suffer.
But violent acts have evil intentions,
And can only lead to tragedy.

lips moving as you say what I already know.
I repeat it like a prayer,
imagine it written on the back of your picture.
I fold it up three times, put it in the pocket
right over my heart and go.
It's just like paper, I tell myself,
it fades, burns, falls apart.

where my heart once
leapt to the rhythm
of five bright fingertips
dancing on a candelabra.

ay dali-daling nabighani ang aking pusong
kasabay ring sinakmal ng takot at pag-aalinlangan.
Nabihag ang buo kong pagkatao
ng pangako ng pagiging isa,
kung kaya't hinayaang buhatin ng sandali
at sa agos ay magpadala.
Sa dantay ng iyong mga labi
at marahang pagkagat,
sa bawat namnam ng bawat saglit
ay dama ko ang iyong ligaya;
ako ay nagpatianod
hanggang sa kaibuturan
at nilamon sa dilim
ng iyong katauhan.
Makalipas ang panandaliang ligaya
ay taglay mo ngayon ang katas
na nagmula sa aking pusong
nag-alaga at nag-aruga;
Bakit ngayong iyong nagamit
Ang aking pagkatig at lakas
ay ganun mo na lamang akong iiwan
Sa inidoro at ifa-flush..?

Hey, there's enough for both you and me
And it drifts into the light of past days
Swirling round in a mist of dreary haze
What a way to see the world abroad
Squinting just to catch a glimpse of God
Wave away the hurt that clouds around
Fear's a stench that leaks up from the ground
But nothing should we take for granted
Even the surge of silence we've planted
Fenced in again by your complacency
You know you'll regain sense eventually
Reach into the box and draw out destiny
Hell, there's always enough for everybody

...please, just get a message to my daughter...
...selfish, scared, stupid little girl, running away to the pastor, letting us all down...
Pandora tugged the hood of her sweatshirt closer, though the motion was only habit since the fabric stuck to her shorn scalp like Velcro. The way she looked on the street-wearing styles twenty years out of date, dirty, hunched over, and holding her hood like a riot shield-were probably conspicuous enough to anyone watching.
Not that she cared. Pandora knew she'd be heading back in cuffs before the night was out. She tugged the hood closer

"Good evenin' Marion," greeted Jim as he laid a kiss onto her left cheek, placing both of his burly hands upon her young slender shoulders. Her lips, laden with the brightest shade of red, curled upwards as she smiled out into the air smelling of chimney smoke and a clear sky full of stars and mosquitoes.
"Oh Jim, you really know how to be a gentleman don't you?" she replied, pulling back from his grasp to place a kiss upon his lips. "How do you do it, Jim? You dress so ragged but you're just the finest thing." She rubbed her hands up and down the sleeves of his dingy white shirt, along the buttons done halfway up his chest, and gently flicked her fingers against the pack of cigarettes in his shirt pocket, slyly slipping him a grin of disapproval. "You know those are made by the devil don't you?"
"Ah, don't worry about it. They're Lucky. There ain't nothin' the devil makes that's Lucky."

I had a surprise"Henry, I'm home!". My wife was just getting home from work. It was 6 in the evening and I could hear her heels striking the hardwood floor inside the front porch as she slipped off her shoes and then hung her overcoat over the rail-end before coming upstairs to see me. She whistled the tune of some French chanson as she swayed herself to the second floor.I had a surprise4 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
"Oh! Good evening honey! Why don't you just, just stay down in the living room for awhile? I've got a little surprise for you darling!" I shouted back. Of course I had no surprise prepared for Liza, nor would she believe I had since this was a far too frequent occurrence in our home.
Her pace was never hurried. She would pause at each step, giving me time to put away the cigarettes she didn't know I smoked, or hide the empty liquor bottle beneath the bed when she knew I wasn't supposed to be drinking.
"Are you in the bedroom dear? I'm coming up", she would yell from the top of the stairs as if she were at the bottom, often misleading

my ear pressed to your flesh
its beats count the steely seconds
i haven't left you yet
you plant a kiss, soft, with thought
square on my forehead
its roots reach deep, to my foundations
to my hands and eyes and teeth
your breath is hot and bittersweet
your fingers press in earnest
but your words are close and delicate
the syllables are well rested
on a bed of hay, the smell of summer
we watch the dusk and fall
while the time draws near, and nearer
we are left behind it all

His eyes shaded my cheeks in pinks,
His fingers painted my body in a flush,
His skin tinged me in red-hot passion.
He kissed me in English.
The brush of his tongue whispered worship.
The lick of my lip murmured I was his only.
The nip at my neck proclaimed his lust.
He made love to me in Music.
His hands hummed with possession.
His body trumpeted his claim.
But it was together that we moved in harmony.

In a white Continental,
Crawling out down
Some big city movie scene
Under towers of empty
Windows, too far below Prudence
Clinging to self awareness
In lee of neon ringed unholy
Indulgences, a torrid swarm
Of spoiled senses:
All the Pac-Men in
We drink and dance
Our blues away,
Just up and come
Our days away.

She draws herself in
Gathering her strings up
She knows better than to let anything real
escape her grasp
She says River Falls is all the same,
She says it in jest.
I'm not saying she's wrong
I'm not saying we're the best
But somewhere among all the kids getting drunk
Things drip down some guy's veins a little
He is finding rest.
Somewhere over the black and white rainbow,
way down low there is someone different.

My Sweet...Oh how I wish I could be closer,My Sweet...11 months ago in Free Verse More Like This
So close I could simply say,
I love you, 'tis true,
It will always remain this way.
I always see you,
Roaming through the halls,
You're in all my classes,
Hoping you'd hear my prayers, wishes, and calls,
With my odd personality, my smarts and my glasses,
When you feel sad or embarrassed,
I can feel that pain, too.
I know in your mind what has never crossed,
The thoughts of me and you,
I just hope,
I can finally say,
I love you, my sweet,
And you would feel the same exact way.
