FAQ: A Journal of Impossible ThingsI keep getting the same questions from both Doctor Who fans and those who have no idea what's going on, so I thought I'd write a journal entry about this project. It's a bit silly to write a separate FAQ section for this, but I really need a place to link back to whenever I'm asked something about this series of drawings.FAQ: A Journal of Impossible Things4 years ago in Personal More Like This
WHAT'S A JOURNAL OF IMPOSSIBLE THINGS?
It's a dream journal featured in the Doctor Who episodes Human Nature (3x08) and The Family of Blood (3x09). In this two-parter, the Doctor rewrote his biology and became human in order to hide from the Family of Blood. The Doctor's human persona John Smith kept a journal where he wrote down and drew things he saw in his dreams, which were actually memories of his adventures as the Doctor.
The original prop journal was created by artist Kellyanne Walker and the text was provided by Paul Cornell.
SO WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?
My aim is to draw my own version of the Journal. I intend to draw all
Classic Who for "New Series only" fansI got this question from my buddy Robert on Facebook yesterday:Classic Who for "New Series only" fans2 years ago in Personal More Like This
"Any suggestions for a guy who is a diehard fan of the new series but feels overwhelmed by the idea of going back to a show of 20 plus years of episodes? I'm afraid I'll either not like them because my basis of comparison is a show made during a time when TV production values are the highest they've ever been, or, I'll love them and lock myself in a room until I've absorbed the show(what still exists) like I did with the new series (that was only 3 seasons in at the time)."
It echoed comments I've gotten from people here. So here's my answer to him, slightly edited and expanded:
Short answer: THE BRAIN OF MORBIUS; GENESIS OF THE DALEKS; THE SEEDS OF DOOM; THE TALONS OF WENG-CHIANG; CITY OF DEATH; EARTHSHOCK; THE CAVES OF ANDROZANI; REVELATION OF THE DALEKS; INFERNO (in that order) If ya wanna just dip your toe in the water, try those nine. I REALLY recommend starting with something like THE BRAIN OF M

I am officially starting up a contest because i want to so here we go.
This is a contest all about your own OC. This can be a character, creature, or your own MLP or whatever. I'm flexible on content as long as it's your own. It does not have to be specifically made for this contest although it must have been made in the last two months. Older than that is too stale, show me something new!
Medium not important, nor is content, though it MUST BE SAFE FOR WORK.
You must be following me to enter, I will check.
You must favorite or share this journal as a 'i am at the very least planning on participating!'
This contest ends January 15th, 2014. I will be the sole judge unless for some crazy reason this becomes larger of a project than i expect.
1st place: 250 pts + drawing of your OC by me or a feature in my journal of your art.
2nd place: 150 pts
3rd place: 100 points.

DW 50th Ann. Trailer is an Amazing Thrill RideWe just saw the first footage from Doctor Who's 50th anniversary here at Comic-Con. We expected hilarious banter between stars Matt Smith and David Tennant, and a haunting look at the forgotten Doctor John Hurt. But we got much, much more.DW 50th Ann. Trailer is an Amazing Thrill Ride1 year ago in Personal More Like This
The trailer starts out on a haunting, dark note — Matt Smith is walking in the TARDIS, while in voiceover he says, "I've had many faces. Many lives. I don't admit to all of them. There's one life I've tried very hard to forget." And we glimpse the Doctor talking to Clara about his greatest secret.
And then — what looks like the Time War, between the Daleks and the Time Lords! Seriously. Daleks blowing up, flames everywhere, everything going to Hell. And in the middle of all the carnage, John Hurt as the non-Doctor, looking resolute. "Great men are forged in fire," he says. And then something about being the man who lit the flames.
And then, we get Tennant and Smith. Tennant, in his TARDIS, yells "Allons-y," while Matt Smith, in his, yells

David Tennant's Doctor was a cheerful, charismatic and enthusiastic bloke who has a sense of fury for justice! There's an awful a lot of running with this incarnation, if you're his companions then you must be a good runner! He was also haunted by loss of companions and old enemies.

I DO NOT TAKE REQUESTS. Any requests will be ignored. If you have any questions, here's my FAQ.
For those of you who haven't read the FAQ- I'm not going to ponify EVERY character that's ever been on Doctor Who. I have have to draw the line somewhere for my own sanity.
I've tried to group them into logical categories. Characters I'm unfamiliar with are probably in the wrong ones.

Why You're Wrong about a Female 12th DoctorREAD THE ARTICLE HERE: http://doctorwhotv.co.uk/why-youre-wrong-about-a-female-12th-doctor-50442.htmWhy You're Wrong about a Female 12th Doctor2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Writer for brentalfloss comics Dan Roth wrote a very interesting article about why having a female Doctor wouldn't be the end of the world and might actually help give new life to the Doctor Who franchise. Discouragingly, the vast majority of Doctor Who fans out there are dead-set against it.
According to an official poll http://doctorwhotv.co.uk/matt-smiths-departure-your-reaction-50404.htm 87% of fans would prefer a male Doctor over a female one, and comments made by fans on the polls and in Dan's article are rather disappointing.
I'm not here to try and debate it, because I frankly don't care what they do. My Doctor will always be David Tennant. But just because I like him doesn't mean I want to impose my likes on anyone else, and it certainly shouldn't stop the creators from taking a risk that might shake things up and get more fans.
Obviously they won't have a female Doctor
The Nature of A TARDISNOTE: After answering a fellow Devianart member with this statement, I felt that in a rare moment of clarity, I was able to finally ARTICULATE what my belief is on what the exact nature and workings are of the TARDIS is, and just had to share this with all of you. Comments and responses are welcome, but my view on this subject is now pretty much set in stone, and will remain unchanged on this subject. The following text is fairly lengthy, but breaks down the nature of the TT Capsule in simple terms without getting too heavy into Quantum Physics, and hopefully is easily understandable to any fan of the show. Please enjoy the read, and know that this is the basis for the work I am doing to try to convey these concepts in art format for the TARDIS: Type 40 TT Capsule, Mark III Technical Manual of which I have recently uploaded art for. TARDIS Levels DescriptionThink of the TARDIS that looks like a molecule model, or Atom. It's rings with Domes all circling around the central engine, and eye of harmony. As with the Prometheus planetary map concept from the movie, whereby the 3D graphic shows orbital paths, and planets rotating. In the TARDIS, these paths would represent the corridors, which can move and spin to connect with different sections around an orbit relative to the main section. each room is either connected to the corridor, or separately floating in this limbo until needed. The TARDIS can create more rooms, and attach them to the corridors at will, or delete a room, converting the matter (a flux state of matter) into energy and feed it directly back into the main engines. These rings and rooms each represent a specific floor. as the TARDIS grows in scale, new rings are formed spiraling out to the next floor and rings surrounding the previous floor and rings, and central engines. Think of the TARDIS to use the analogy coined by ShrekTARDIS Levels Description9 months ago in Personal More Like This

This is why the Doctor is RealThis is something that actually happened some time back, but I didn't really write it down or anything. Lately though, I was thinking about it, and I wanted to share it with my friends here. This is why the Doctor is Real2 years ago in Personal More Like This
To give a little background, everyone in my family watches (and loves) Doctor Who. I have a very young sister who has only gotten to see a handful of episodes of the new series because the rest would scare her, but she still was desperate to see more of the Doctor, so we started watching the classic episodes together. She's our little Whovian. She loves all the Doctors, especially Eleven and Four, and she said Sarah Jane is her hero because 'she must be, like, the bravest person EVER and I want to be brave like her.'
I guess that's why I wasn't sure what to tell her when one day she walked up to me, a serious expression on her little face, and asked 'Sarah, is the Doctor real?'
I was stunned. I thought she understood it was just a show. She's never even believed

There are several uses for this feature. Say you're walking down the street, and you see something that catches your eye. Perhaps there's an impromptu dance party, or the sun is setting over the mountains. You only have your phone on you, and you snap a photo.
