Will You Draw My Comic? Art Requests : A GuideHey guys, I really super didn't want to have to write a journal entry like this, but Jump USA or something must have a contest going because in the last two weeks I've had six requests to do a comic together with people I don't know. This year alone I've had twenty requests to do comics, and only about two of those requests have been legitimate commissions. The rest have been people asking if I would draw their comic for them, and I never hear back from them once I give them my commission rates. Considering I am pretty cheap, my guess is people are expecting me to do a full two months of work for next to nothing. Will You Draw My Comic? Art Requests : A Guide2 years ago in Personal More Like This
No ill will toward these folks, but I am a professional and I have to admit that I'm getting a little tired of getting asked to do freebies. My guess is people who have never worked with a professional artist before don't know how to go about contacting artists and don't realize what artists charge or expect when people go out of their way to contact them. So if you stum

Journal updated, with my scanning technique=======Journal updated, with my scanning technique2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've got so many questions about how I scan my traditional artworks, I also wanted to try out my deviantart Sta.sh storage, so I've uploaded some scanned files and put them on this journal.
Here's my method.
: I use HP G4050 scanner
: My current working OS is Windows 7, but I always use Windows XP to scan my artworks
: I always put 2 bluish-tint transparent films under my pictures when scanning. [You can buy transparent film at stationery stores.]
: Then adjust colors with photoshop, I always set contrast to [+12] or [+14] and I always use legacy contrast.
: I also adjust sharpness sometimes.
[filter>sharpen>unsharp mask> and adjust radius to : +1 pixels.
: Remove all eraser dust using clone stamp tool and it's done.
Someone might wonder why don't I use windows 7 for scanning, why do I have to put 2 transparent films underneath, and why they have to be bluish tint, I have uploaded some sample images for you to compare.

First of all thank you everyone for your support and persistence to follow my artwork. It has been a loooooong time since I have joined this community, and I have grown up with a few of my fellow deviants here. I have to say, this site has a changed a lot since I joined. Its still similar in ways but most things are definitely different. I myself have changed in what I post regularly. I apologize for the lack of fan art I used to post here.
Ever since I went to uni, my life has changed quite a bit and my view on art is also quite different. Dont get me wrong, i still love Naruto, and I wish I could do more fanarts of it, but its been such a shift ever since I started working. I went back to studying painting and color in my free time, and I also did my dissertation in my final year in uni about color and light. So what I am posting here is just another quest for improvement. I've always loved manga, but I am very particular about what style it is. The reason I was drawn to Naruto

Try to embrace what makes you different, even if it makes others uncomfortable.
Best video resources for digital artistsLearning the theory without any practice is incredibly pointless when it comes to art. No book, no lecture and no video will ever teach you how to paint if you won't find the time for creating something yourself.Best video resources for digital artists2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
On the other hand, doing everything alone and without any instructions is the longest and hardest way of achieving anything. What's worse it doesn't guarantee you success.
Through the last couple of years I've been painting, I've learned that the best way for me to learn to paint is to copy techniques of people who know what they're doing. There's no better way doing it than watching videos with commentaries. That's why today I thought I'd share with you some great lectures, tutorials and demos I've found on youtube. Below you'll find a list of the best YT channels and samples of videos. Go and subscribe for more great vids!

I get it, I really do. You're busy, you don't really want to do your job, and you've been taught to have the least possible concern for other people as you can as to avoid branding this website with a 'bad reputation'.
This place is supposedly all flowers, rainbows, and happy people frolicking away in eternal bliss sharing art, and being merry.
Meanwhile the truth is this place is the biggest joke on the internet. It's filled and continually filling up with so many sockpuppet troll accounts, cyber bullies, and spammers with such rapidity it puts Myspace or any other social media site to shame.

My First Episode of Ninja Turtles!!Hey all,My First Episode of Ninja Turtles!!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Just thought I should let you know the first episode of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that I did storyboards on just aired! Best of all, its currently up on Nickelodeon's website so you can watch it for free! I worked on the second half,(***SPOILER WARNING*** mainly the sequence where the turtles escape Shredder's lair and also the part where April, Casey and Donnie take on the worm in the sewer and it barfs on them). I worked on this episode about a year ago, so its exciting to finally have it come out. Anyway, here's a link to the show: http://www.nick.com/videos/clip/tmnt-997-full-episode.html Hope you enjoy it!
My Tutorial CollectionI want to create this growing tutorial collection for everyone, who is interested in the marker tutorials I write. I already have two larger tutorials in my gallery, but I currently am writing smaller ones for the Letraset blog, thus my reason to write this entry. I'll try to keep it regularly updated. My Tutorial Collection2 years ago in Personal More Like This
These tutorials are for beginners as well as people, who already work with markers, but are looking for some tips. The themes vary, but what you'll find are tutorials about basic colouring and walkthroughs with some colour theory. At the moment I do an update every two weeks on a Wednesday.
I guess that's enough of the introduction, so here's the list... ^__^

What I personally find the hardest to draw is feet and hands. I found that with a lot of practice and a lot of frustrating mistakes my feet and hands actually look at the very least almost the way i want them to be.
Now my favorite Style of drawing is Anime or sometimes semi-realism, and i find that by doing studies of the more traditional style realism actually helps improve my anime pictures greatly. For instance i would practice drawing my hands and feet in different positions holding different things and from different angles. I also find it extremely helpful while i'm drawing and i'm having a particularly hard time drawing a hand or a foot in a certain position i will stop for a
Protecting yourself from unethical artistsAll of us have heard of terrifying clients who make an amateur artist come up with a lot of work for little to no payment, and strive to be that amateur/independent game client who gives them the opportunity to work fairly, but a good number of us forget that artists aren't the only ones subject to poor ethics when it boils down to things. It can go either way.Protecting yourself from unethical artists5 years ago in Personal More Like This
There are "artists" who're not exactly ideal to have in a project. I've heard horror stories too, and met some of them as peers - absolutely horrifying people with no ethics or even a lick of professionalism when it comes to delivery, and heaps of excuses and an inflated ego following fast at that. They're quick to accept payment and slow to deliver; that is, if you consider the scribble they've put out at the [VERY extended] end delivery at all. You can't use it, and all you can do is sit there in silent rage while other artists come to their defense when you won't accept that hasty blob of color that looks N

How to : Find Art ThievesPlease this journal, so that a lot of people can read it.How to : Find Art Thieves3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I noticed that a lot of people don't know how to search for their photos on the internet, so here is a short tutorial. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about art thieves, but i still think it is important to look out for them.
1. visit Google.com
2. Go to the page of the photo you want to search and click "show image"
3. Copy the Link and paste it into google.
4. This page should open, click "search by image".
5. Now you can browse trough the results.
6. The less results the happier you should be.
EDIT : You can also use websites like : tineye.com and iqdb.com
This was pointed out to me by some people, personally i have no experience with them, but i am sure that they work too.

I'll eventually make DA-compatible version of it, but that will have to wait. I can't exactly use the same kind of layout format as with my previous tutorials, as this one has waaaay too varying kinds of images to fit into a mold like that and still look good. And holy moly, that's a lot of text! Took me several hours to write! But at least I've explained things by depth, hrrmh. o_o
Indeed, I drew that image over a month ago, and I've had the all the necessary pieces of the tutorial lying around, ready to be tutorialized, ever since. But with everything else going on it had to wait. But now the tutorial is done and I'm going to have some icecream! And then it's time to draw yet another comic page...
Which leads me to this: Eeee! I can't believe the cover page for the prologue chapter got a DD! I'm so happy! I've been smiling so bad that my whole face hurts. When I lo

✿ Watercolor Equipment II - Additional Tools
In the first week of Artist's Toolbox, we discussed basic Watercolor Equipment such as paper, brushes and paints. Second week's article presents additional tools, equipment that some artists use to enhance their watercolor creations or just for the fun of it, however none of them is crucial to create a watercolor painting.
I divided these tools into two categories - those used to Create Highlights and those used to Create Textures. Bottom part of this article belongs to our watercolorists and their Personal Experience regarding additional tools.

✿ Watercolor Equipment
Watercolor is a painting technique in which the paints are made of pigments suspended in a water-soluble binder. Usually, the result is transparent and appear luminous because the pigments are laid down in a relatively pure form with a few fillers obscuring the pigment color. This medium was never taken as seriously as "high art" techniques such as oil painting and was rather seen as pale and miniaturist, but it's gradually reclaiming it's place as a vehicle for the most beautiful and unexpected artistic expression. Watercolor can be vibrant and large, very vital, spontaneous and leaning a little on luck. All these aspects make watercolor painting a medium with great potential for new discoveries.

They're the studio behind Kung Fu Cooking Girls, a short that pretty much brought a new style to the animation table:

Always a beautiful thing to see a new studio doing so well against all odds. They're almost doing the impossible over there in China. Hopefully we'll see them producing more memorable animation. I wish them many years of success and growth.
As far as myself, I've got some animation of my own coming down the pipe. More on that in the future...I'm

Paypal has changed their layout, you can still send invoices but you can no longer select digital goods.
I haven't had time to really look into it and come up with a solution.
but you pretty much HAVE to send out something physical now if you want to be fully protected. There's still main points in this journal that describe how to go about that.
This Journal is currently Under Revision.
Points have been brought to my attention that have caused me to need to revise this journal.
I am still digging around on my free time to see if I can find a way around this. I will update daily.
Please note that this is specifically for Artists who use Paypal to sell digital goods.
OK, so there has been many artists being scammed lately through Paypal with large chargebacks. If you have been hit by a chargeback recently please feel free to note me and I will try my best to help

Finally, Matt Patterson and Newsweek speak out about Obama. This is timely and tough. As many of you know, Newsweek has a reputation for being extremely liberal. The fact that their editor saw fit to print the following article about Obama and the one that appears in the latest Newsweek, makes this a truly amazing event, and a news story in and of itself. At last, the truth about our President and his agenda are starting to trickle through the protective wall built around him by the liberal media....
I Too Have Become Disillusioned

Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, the result of a baffling breed of mass hysteria akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages. How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment
