I'll eventually make DA-compatible version of it, but that will have to wait. I can't exactly use the same kind of layout format as with my previous tutorials, as this one has waaaay too varying kinds of images to fit into a mold like that and still look good. And holy moly, that's a lot of text! Took me several hours to write! But at least I've explained things by depth, hrrmh. o_o
Indeed, I drew that image over a month ago, and I've had the all the necessary pieces of the tutorial lying around, ready to be tutorialized, ever since. But with everything else going on it had to wait. But now the tutorial is done and I'm going to have some icecream! And then it's time to draw yet another comic page...
Which leads me to this: Eeee! I can't believe the cover page for the prologue chapter got a DD! I'm so happy! I've been smiling so bad that my whole face hurts. When I lo

What I personally find the hardest to draw is feet and hands. I found that with a lot of practice and a lot of frustrating mistakes my feet and hands actually look at the very least almost the way i want them to be.
Now my favorite Style of drawing is Anime or sometimes semi-realism, and i find that by doing studies of the more traditional style realism actually helps improve my anime pictures greatly. For instance i would practice drawing my hands and feet in different positions holding different things and from different angles. I also find it extremely helpful while i'm drawing and i'm having a particularly hard time drawing a hand or a foot in a certain position i will stop for a
My Tutorial CollectionI want to create this growing tutorial collection for everyone, who is interested in the marker tutorials I write. I already have two larger tutorials in my gallery, but I currently am writing smaller ones for the Letraset blog, thus my reason to write this entry. I'll try to keep it regularly updated. My Tutorial Collection2 years ago in Personal More Like This
These tutorials are for beginners as well as people, who already work with markers, but are looking for some tips. The themes vary, but what you'll find are tutorials about basic colouring and walkthroughs with some colour theory. At the moment I do an update every two weeks on a Wednesday.
I guess that's enough of the introduction, so here's the list... ^__^

Protecting yourself from unethical artistsAll of us have heard of terrifying clients who make an amateur artist come up with a lot of work for little to no payment, and strive to be that amateur/independent game client who gives them the opportunity to work fairly, but a good number of us forget that artists aren't the only ones subject to poor ethics when it boils down to things. It can go either way.Protecting yourself from unethical artists4 years ago in Personal More Like This
There are "artists" who're not exactly ideal to have in a project. I've heard horror stories too, and met some of them as peers - absolutely horrifying people with no ethics or even a lick of professionalism when it comes to delivery, and heaps of excuses and an inflated ego following fast at that. They're quick to accept payment and slow to deliver; that is, if you consider the scribble they've put out at the [VERY extended] end delivery at all. You can't use it, and all you can do is sit there in silent rage while other artists come to their defense when you won't accept that hasty blob of color that looks N

Web Comics you should check outHey guys,Web Comics you should check out2 years ago in Personal More Like This
While I've been chiseling away my deadlines and thesis, and in the midst of preparing to re-launch Benny and Fritz, I've been seeking comfort in some web comics. I don't know many web comics, I'm kind of a n00b (i believe is the term..) but in any case, here are a few I've come across that might strike your fancy. They all come from very talented artists and are just really killer:
Monsieur Charlatan: by :iconDrSlug:
A once-great detective, Isidore Charlatan, has been living his life in a drunken stupor ever since his wife left him for another man. Now that his wife has returned, he finds himself in a rather complex conspiracy involving her, himself, and a few other malicious characters. I greatly enjoy the duo of Charlatan and O'Neil (his dear friend)- anyhow it's a very brilliant comic and every panel is bursting with light composition. Check it out! http://monsieur-charlatan.com/archive/page-1/

LAST MONTH'S ARTICLE http://unicorn-skydancer08.deviantart.com/journal/Artist-Appreciation-Vol-33-283879007
The seventh day of the month has come once again, and you know what that means! No, not free ice cream; it's time to give three beautiful, wonderful, completely unique artists a nice little slice of fame, with plenty of love and admiration on the side. Let's see who we've got this time:
One of my best buddies, and today is her birthday! Be sure to send her a birthday wish when you get the chance. She's a really great friend; I haven't known her for too terribly long, but it's amazing how close we've grown in so short a time. I can always count on her, and I hope she realizes

How to : Find Art ThievesPlease this journal, so that a lot of people can read it.How to : Find Art Thieves2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I noticed that a lot of people don't know how to search for their photos on the internet, so here is a short tutorial. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about art thieves, but i still think it is important to look out for them.
1. visit Google.com
2. Go to the page of the photo you want to search and click "show image"
3. Copy the Link and paste it into google.
4. This page should open, click "search by image".
5. Now you can browse trough the results.
6. The less results the happier you should be.
EDIT : You can also use websites like : tineye.com and iqdb.com
This was pointed out to me by some people, personally i have no experience with them, but i am sure that they work too.

Over the years I have produced a range of tutorials on artistic use of the computer. Most of them concerns rather general concepts and can hopefully give something regardless of which program you are using or even be of some interest for traditional, non-digital artists. Some examples of my art can be found in the gallery.
That said, to get the most out of these you should know that I mainly use the open-source image manipulation program GIMP. I also work a lot with the painter program MyPaint. These are both very powerful programs capable of great artistic expression. Being open-source programs, they are both legally free to download and use without any cost. They exist for many platforms, including Linux, Mac and Windows, so they are worth trying out if you haven't already.
The tutorials listed below tend are (ver

Everything explained is based on the gruze-structure of journals. If you are still using the old structure or have a journal installed that used it, things won’t work the same way like explained below.
For simple skins the old structure is fine, but the more features you add, the more I would recommend using the gruze-structure. You can look up the differences here: http://ginkgografix.deviantart.com/art/Old-vs-Gruze-Journals-112772369
This time I will explain you, how to modify the header section of a journal. I will try to cover everything important, but if there are still things you want to know more about, just let me know and I will try to add it here.
Nothing what I will explain here will affect the actual content area and it will always refer to the defaul

In case you haven't paid any attention to the shorts that played this
summer over Cartoon Network's DC Nation then you might have missed the
standout work that came from Wolf Smoke Studio.
They're the studio behind Kung Fu Cooking Girls, a short that pretty much brought a new style to the animation table:
This, I believe, is the lead key animator's profile on Pixiv. Just click the image to go there and browse his gallery. It's quality:
Always a beautiful thing to see a new studio doing so well against all odds. They're almost doing the impossible over there in China. Hopefully we'll see them producing more memorable animation. I wish them many years of success and growth.
As far as myself, I've got some animation of my own coming down the pipe. More on that in the future...I'm

✿ Watercolor Equipment II - Additional Tools
In the first week of Artist's Toolbox, we discussed basic Watercolor Equipment such as paper, brushes and paints. Second week's article presents additional tools, equipment that some artists use to enhance their watercolor creations or just for the fun of it, however none of them is crucial to create a watercolor painting.
I divided these tools into two categories - those used to Create Highlights and those used to Create Textures. Bottom part of this article belongs to our watercolorists and their Personal Experience regarding additional tools.

✿ Watercolor Equipment
Watercolor is a painting technique in which the paints are made of pigments suspended in a water-soluble binder. Usually, the result is transparent and appear luminous because the pigments are laid down in a relatively pure form with a few fillers obscuring the pigment color. This medium was never taken as seriously as "high art" techniques such as oil painting and was rather seen as pale and miniaturist, but it's gradually reclaiming it's place as a vehicle for the most beautiful and unexpected artistic expression. Watercolor can be vibrant and large, very vital, spontaneous and leaning a little on luck. All these aspects make watercolor painting a medium with great potential for new discoveries.

Paint Tool Sai on Mac with tablet pressureHow to: Get Paint Tool Sai running on a Mac with tablet pen pressure supportPaint Tool Sai on Mac with tablet pressure3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Surprisingly a lot of people don't know that you can do this.
In every stream someone asks, "What program is that?"
Artist replies, "Paint Tool Sai"
Then someone else says, "I want Sai but I can't use it because I have a Mac,"
Not true! You actually can. It's not that difficult, either.
Using virtualization software, you can get Sai running on a Mac inside a window as if it were a native Mac program.
I use it to ink almost all of my pictures, in fact.
Fair warning: This does cost a bit of money. You're looking at at about $150 at minimum to buy both Sai and Windows licenses, and add another $50-80 if you choose to get priced virtualization software.
At that point you might want to consider instead getting Photoshop Elements 11 for Mac ($100), but if you want to run Windows software and games on your Mac as well as Sai, this would be the best option.

Devious Journal EntryAMAZING!!! The Cover of Liberal Newsweek Magazine:Devious Journal Entry1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Finally, Matt Patterson and Newsweek speak out about Obama. This is timely and tough. As many of you know, Newsweek has a reputation for being extremely liberal. The fact that their editor saw fit to print the following article about Obama and the one that appears in the latest Newsweek, makes this a truly amazing event, and a news story in and of itself. At last, the truth about our President and his agenda are starting to trickle through the protective wall built around him by the liberal media....
I Too Have Become Disillusioned
By Matt Patterson (Newsweek Columnist – Opinion Writer)
Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, the result of a baffling breed of mass hysteria akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages. How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment

Paypal has changed their layout, you can still send invoices but you can no longer select digital goods.
I haven't had time to really look into it and come up with a solution.
but you pretty much HAVE to send out something physical now if you want to be fully protected. There's still main points in this journal that describe how to go about that.
This Journal is currently Under Revision.
Points have been brought to my attention that have caused me to need to revise this journal.
I am still digging around on my free time to see if I can find a way around this. I will update daily.
Please note that this is specifically for Artists who use Paypal to sell digital goods.
OK, so there has been many artists being scammed lately through Paypal with large chargebacks. If you have been hit by a chargeback recently please feel free to note me and I will try my best to help
