A Taste Of CoutureIt's been awhile since I've run a series of features, and I'm very much looking forward to starting again (thank you, summertime), however, before I start this one - there are a few words that simply must be said.A Taste Of Couture1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Not too long ago, I went off on the public about rude and terribly un-classy, and uncalled for commenting. As it turns out over 2,000 of you listened, or at least read what I had to say. That is quite a substantial number. However, as well all can assume dA is no small networking site, and 2,000 people is just a tiny bubble in this digital pool. And it is what that knowledge that I come to inform you that once again, trolling, harassing, and cyber bullying has gone three steps too far - and someone has reached a point of bowing out of dA for some time.
Given the circumstances, I don't blame them, not one bit - however it's still, as ever, a very frustrating thing. People's actions are sometimes the most disappointing thing when it comes to this site, and while I

Wacom's DeclineI've been using Wacom products for the better part of a decade now. I'm currently using an Intuos3 6x11 at work and an Intuos4 Medium at home. Before the Intuos4, I used a small Graphire bought all the way back in 2001. I've also used older Intuos and Intuos2 tablets at school and college over the years. Wacom has been the only brand of tablet that I would recommend to an aspiring artist or retoucher, namely because their competitors had some kind of major flaw. Such flaws included drivers that were terrible, or styluses with limitations like batteries or cables, or just pure inferior drawing surfaces. No other product would do the job as well. Yes, they were expensive, relatively speaking, but what you were paying for was quality.Wacom's Decline2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Back in March, I upgraded to the Inutos4 when the stylus for my Graphire stopped responding to pressure. All in all, it really bothers me that I have mixed feelings about the whole affair, because I've been a Wacom fanboy for all these years.
With the Intuos
Why You Shouldn't Use The Celestia Medium FontA while back, a user named Purple Tinker released a font called Celestia Medium aiming to recreate the look of the font used for certain titling lines in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. When I first saw the font mentioned on Equestria Daily back around March, I pointed out the real font that she was attempting to recreate, and the comment was summarily ignored. I've been busy with other things, but I've finally managed to sit down and put some thoughts together on this subject. Why You Shouldn't Use The Celestia Medium Font2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Specifically, Celestia Medium is a subset of Harold Lohner's Generation B. Generation B is a unique character set designed to evoke the style of hand-drawn titles from fifties and sixties television and movies. Harold cites specific examples such as The Parent Trap and Gilligan's Island. Harold goes into detail on the creative process he used to create the typeface on his website. G
Wacom Driver Not Booting Properly?Time To Share Some WisdomWacom Driver Not Booting Properly?3 months ago in Resources More Like This
Trouble with your Wacom driver not booting properly on windows? For the longest time I had problems with my Wacom tablet being ready to work once Windows finished booting. When I picked up the pen it just didn't move. When I tried to open the Wacom Tablet Properties I got the message that the driver did not load or something. Only way to resolve this was to reboot the machine. Not via 'restart' no... a complete shutdown was necessary. Very annoying when your Windows takes a while to boot. Mine surely does.
Recently I had enough and started to look for a solution (for the 10th time or so). With the difference that I seem to have found one now. Don't bother with the Wacom forums. As far as I can see they don't have much of a solution. But anyways. What can you do to solve the issue? Well, time to share some wisdom. Here we go:
1. Click the Windows button and type Services into the quick search
2. Click the icon on top of the upcoming lis
Scratch's EyesThe TL: DR is that Scratch's eyes as seen in the show are the same as Dash's. But here's a wall of text and helpful visual aids to help explain.Scratch's Eyes1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Magenta is not red (and it's not really violet either).
For reference, this is Dash's eye pulled right from the official artwork (and ergo how I made my color guide). The eye gradients are always composed of at least two to three colors, and they all go from a darker to brighter luminance. It never goes dark-light-dark, though it can certainly change hue.
I've also included a screengrab of Dash from the show.
The flash assets used in the promo sites are the real deal from Studio B, the web people are not reinventing the wheel (and anyone who says otherwise hasn't actually dug into the flash files in the past). This has been the case since day one of the flash promo sites. But for argument's sake, I'll repost the ripped elements.
Now, to be fair, I'll grant that there may be some color management issues (given that Flash is, generally, not colo

Many of you My Little Pony fans may have heard the amazing news that John de Lancie, who played the infamous Q on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and who I was so honored to have play the villain Discord for MLP:FiM, has announced that he will be Executive Producing a documentary about Bronies and Bronycon.
The new news is that Tara Strong (voice of Twilight Sparkle) and I have been brought on board as Executive Producers, as well. And to make this documentary as amazing as possible, we are reaching out to raise even more money for film on our Kickstarter page. Please see the official announcement below:
We are pleased to announce that Tara Strong and Lauren Faust have joined us as executiv

Animation Job FAQ
Q: How can I get a job in animation?
The absolute best thing you can do to get into animation as a career is to go to art school. Not only will you learn how to draw and how to SEE, you will meet people, students and teachers alike, who will give you new perspectives and will likely be the sources of your future jobs. (My first job came from one of my teachers.)
There are several schools that have fantastic animation programs that cover all facets of the atr form. Schools like the one I attended, CALIFORNIA INSTITUTE OF THE ARTS, will teach you animation (2D and 3D,) character design, storyboarding, bac

Today is different and I'm pushed only by the desire to display great photography.
There are no other words to describe Daniel Ilinca's work.
He's a complete extraordinary photographer from Romania: creative, elegant, eclectic, dedicated and committed.
You'll probably know already many of his works of art but just go and take another look to his gallery is always something interesting and inspirational.
I must say that myself, as a hobbits photographer, I have to thank those people here in dA like pacsaman, who, by sharing their referencial work, help us to get inspiration to try to get better.
Here's my personal selection:
