How can one be honest
----if there is no truth?
Some people die for disagreements,

How do you bake a batch of cookies

How many no-ones does it take

Heroin or clarity-

Make a beast out of a man,

Exposure is the only guru

'cause chaos is the only culture

How many scratches must abrade

How many lines in parallel

How many stitches in absentia
----weave a cuirass for the heart?
Homage to HypatiaLady of the roman Egypt,Homage to Hypatia5 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
The end of your days truly
Is quite sad.
Wise you were,
Wise and brilliant woman
Whose knowledge is lost,
Whose talent was a victim
Of the worst evil there is:
The blind sheep of the
God of war,
Ares of Zion,
Who even makes Odin
The evil planner disgusted,
Truly brought to you pain
And a death so cruel.
Your flesh was ripped from
Your bones by sea shells,
Stones were thrown and,
As in every woman called
Whatever remained was
You surely proved the truth
About Yahweh's insanity!
How sadening it is that the
Sheep glorify your death,
Bath themselves in your
Misery and worship those
You killed you.
True monsters is what God
You should be an example to
All the femalekind,
But instead they choose God,
The mad god,
And submit themselves to the
Instead of praising you for how
Kind you were.
It is the whore who aborted
Christ the only admired woman.
Religious Indoctrination of ChildrenIf there’s one thing that I would like to voice my disagreement with, it’s definitely assimilating/indoctrinating children into their parents religion without the child’s consent. Of course, most children probably don’t realize what’s going on when they are indoctrinated, while their parents might not see anything wrong with it. That’s sort of why I call this a disagreement, I guess; I do strongly feel that all children should have the right to pick whichever religion they want to be devout towards (If they want to be religious at all), and they should also be entitled to their own metaphysical beliefs, without having them forced on them by their parents.Religious Indoctrination of Children4 months ago in Articles & Interviews More Like This
Now some might ask the question: How do you know if a child is being forced? Or, what if the child wants to be religious, even following their parents religion.
Well, there are a few things to consider. First of all, it’s pretty obvious when a child is being forced to be religiously devout vs

LGBT-Phobia: The Radical Christian ViewIt’s no big surprise to anyone living on planet earth: Fundamental Christians have a huge problem with the LGBT community, who they often (ignorantly) lump together under the title of “homosexual”. In fact, if you Google right now, “Why homosexuality is bad” (not that all sexually oriented people are homosexual by definition), or do the same on YouTube, chances are you’ll find a religious apologist or some Fundamentalist preacher spewing Bible verse after Bible verse trying to justify his position. Expect to hear the typical “Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve” tripe over and over again, give or take a few words.LGBT-Phobia: The Radical Christian View4 months ago in Articles & Interviews More Like This
The way I see it, Fundamentalist Christians - the same Christians who put down womens rights, reject science, and are radically pro-life (etc) - are deliberately and wilfully ignorant about the LGBT, and they often expose that every time they open up their mouths about them.
That’s basically he reason why I’m writing th

You can whine like a bitch and call people names,
you only show you're not as accepting as your claims.
You can spout your bullshit to your mindless sheep,
we all know that spineless words are cheap.
Being unable to back up those things you speak
and refusing to discuss your ideas just proves you're weak.
You can try to pretend that you're something you're not.
You can live in a lie despite what you're being taught.
But you can't force your idiocy onto those who see

"I will destroy ... both man and beast."
God is angry. He decides to destroy all humans, beasts, creeping things, fowls, and "all flesh wherein there is breath of life." He plans to drown them all.6:7, 17
"Every living substance that I have made will I destroy."
God repeats his intention to kill "every living substance ... from off the face of the earth." But why does God kill all the innocent animals? What had they done to deserve his wrath? It seems God never gets his fill of tormenting animals. 7:4
"All flesh died that moved upon the earth."
God drowns everything that breathes air. From newborn babies to koala bears -- all creatures great and small, the Lord God drowned them all. 7:21-23
God tells Abram to kill some animals for him. The needless slaughter makes God feel better. 15:9-10

Some of humanity’s technological innovations are things we would have been better off without: the medieval rack, the atomic bomb and powdered lead potions come to mind. Religions tend to invent ideas or concepts rather than technologies, but like every other creative human enterprise, they produce some really bad ones along with the good.
My website, Wisdom Commons, highlights some of humanity’s best moral and spiritual concepts, our shared moral core. Here, by way of contrast, are some of the worst. These twelve dubious concepts promote conflict, cruelty, suffering and death rather than love and peace. To paraphrase Christopher Hitchens, they belong in the dustbin of history just as soon as we can get them there.

Religious Fundamentalism: Anti-IntellectualismIn the past, I wrote about religious censorship and the indoctrination of children, but now I hope to blend these two topics together to talk about a more endearing problem that I regularly see in the [religious] Fundamentalist community, and that’s the problem with anti-intellectualism. This isn’t to challenge the dogmas of the various religious beliefs (despite the fact that their claims being false are rather self-evident), but this is intended to discuss the attempt of religious Fundamentalists to censor the learning atmosphere of youth in public education, as well as pointing out the folly of promoting anti-intellectualism in the first place.Religious Fundamentalism: Anti-Intellectualism4 months ago in Articles & Interviews More Like This
This is truly the backbone of Fundamentalism; In regards to religious attitudes, Fundamentalism can be described as a late 19th and early 20th century movement which was mostly defined by a literal interpretation of the Bible’s dogma, thus advocating Biblical inerrancy. In other words, if the Bible says A, and reality (evide

1) My beliefs are perfectly justified. As such, I don't need to provide evidence for the existence of my god or the historicity of my dogma.
2) Cherry-picking the bible is perfectly acceptable when I use it to validate my beliefs. However, it is not acceptable when non-christians use it to repudiate/invalidate my beliefs.
3) Belief in the christian god is an essential component to a morally and ethically sound world-view. Anyone who doesn't believe in my god can't possibly be moral and ethical...despite appearances to the contrary...
4) I demand respect for my beliefs but I'm under no obligation to extend the same to non-believers and people of other faiths.
5) Science can't possibly be right if it contradicts the unverifiable myths and fairy-tales contained in my holy text...like the fact that a wooden ship the size of the ark would never be sea-worthy under any circumstance...

"God gaves us free will, ergo it's pur own fault": Except that the Bible nor the Qu'ran put emphasis on free will. Hell, this excuse is so very recent, that, until a few centuries ago, the idea that God had absolute control over our lives was very popular.
"Its our fault; Adam and Eve's sin created evil, not God!": If you have read Genesis, you'll know this is bullshit (Hell, even Yahweh admits he created evil!). Likewise, at no point is the first sin ever considered a "Pandora's Box" situation.
"God is goodness incarnate! Evil is against his nature!":...have you even read the Bible? Yahweh is also considered to not be goodness incarnate until the NT and Qu'ran; in the OT, he is treated as a Lawful Neutral agent.
"Your're putting everything out of context!": Considering I actually bother to read the Bible/Qu'ran, while you only cherry pick passages your pastor dictates...

Crimes Against Children and God's Mercy My mother said “It’s a good thing I’m not the Judge because I would have far less righteousness, justice, and mercy than our Father, especially when it comes to crimes against innocent children.” I find this ironic on two levels.Crimes Against Children and God's Mercy11 months ago in Philosophical More Like This
The first is that if she judged God on his crimes against children she could do nothing but find him guilty. The Bible gives an explicit record of crimes against children done by God or on God’s orders. The verdict of guilty is inevitable and unavoidable. I wonder what punishment she would assign God if she was being honest. I’d like to see what kind of justice she would assign to God if she took off her blinders and judged him honestly.
The second is that she can mention crimes against children and God’s “mercy” in the same sentence. God despite the repeated claims in the bible is not merciful; certain

Known more formally as the nation China, Wang hummed to himself. The aroma of the Geng was permeating throughout the house and making some little nation in the other room not focus on his assignment. Japan was told to work on some numbers and letters.
Sprawled out on the floor on a futon mattress, little Honda who wasn't more than five years old was working on his Kanji, or he was supposed to be. He was not enrolled in school yet, but China was very adamant about the nation learning at an early age, and thought education was of extreme importance. It was key to him, and if he could learn at an early age, so could the little nation.

"For heaven's sake! I can't keep up!"
Alice drew back like a horse that was being reined in. The lanky youth attached to her hand was forced to slow his progress in light of these developments. Alice shook the hand free and stood, gasping for breath, holding her hands to her aching sides. The Hatter, although very rosy in the cheeks and possibly showing more expansion of the chest during his breathing than usual, seemed otherwise unaffected, and as Alice continued to catch her breath, grew increasingly agitated.
"Oh do let's go," he urged finally, sounding strained. Alice gave him an unhappy look, but he took her hand and she allowed herself to be dragged along once more.
"I wish you would tell me what this is about!" she gasped out in intervals as they darted around tree trunks and roots, the Hatter's dark boots snapping twigs and kicking up leaves.

Let my blood flow,
And let my body burn.

And let me be persecuted,
Let me loose everything I care for,

Grant me a lifetime of suffering,
