With the new Afro Samurai Resurrection out, I thought well since everyone loves the original I'd go and revamp it; since with the original I feel it has alot of glaring flaws and it was only my 3rd ever digital painting.
A new day is starting in World War 2 Europe.... and the first order of business is.... killing natzees!
Anyway, here we see a US Army Soldier in typical WW2 uniform (I tried to be accurate but I improvised several details), holding a M1A1 Thomson Submachine Gun. He's pin down in the corner of a building and is unable to run across the other side of the street due to a well placed MG-42 crew. In addition, a little rain (Note, It's NOT pouring out there so there still sun) and the sun right behind the enemy MG position make things quite harder for this GI Joe.
This is not inspired by anything in particular and the project started as something far more simplier but I couldn't resist trying to make it more complex and... well. You can judge by yourself.
One thing I tried to replicate was the impact of bullets in a solid surface like a wall. Bullet impacts in detail are amazingly rare (Given the sort of art I do). I hope they're good because I've been mostly playing around with some PhotoShop brushes to achieve that.
I hope you guys like it.
See'ya in the Battlefield!
PS: Made myself a new Avatar, 'though I may change it again in the near future.
Requested by I've changed the title of the project from "Chilling in A-stan" to something cooler.
AFO Wolfpack (US Army), AFO Neptune (US Navy), 1t Battallion 75th Ranger Rengiment and the Afghan National Army (ANA). All posing ala Modern Warfare 2.
This is basically a Medal of Honor (2010) fanart. Or so I tried to do.
In the HIGHLY likely scenario no one knows who is who in this pic (Because of my still low capacity at replicating original non-manga faces): From Left to Right And Up Down: Panther, Deuce, Mother, Vodoo, Preacher, ANA Soldier #1, ANA Soldier #2, Vegas, Dusty, Sgt. Patterson, Spc. Hernandez, Tsgt. Ybarra, Spc. Dante Adams.
MoH2010 players will notice the absence of Rabbit. This is because the reference I printed didn't include Rabbit's name and I only knew about the existence of this character when I was far too advanced into this project. My apologies. I'm also sorry that the faces of the characters aren't 100% accurate. I had to improvise a little bit.
The reference pictures I used helped a lot but did no quite helped me portray the characters as they should have. It wasn't a problem of the pictures but it was more a problem of the printing quality.
I've made a number of mistakes in this project. The most noticeable are the slighty different and contradictarory sizes of the weaponry. Hernandez pose went to sh*t. Honestly it looked far better in the sketch but when I draw it, it turned out pretty bad.
I hope you can forgive me for that And also for the over three months delay on this. But no worries because I'm finally back into drawing
One of my followers on Tumblr requested Alexander Hamilton reacting to his fangirls on Tumblr. It's a lot of Hamilton, as well as Historical figure lovers, on that site. It's crazy, lol. Anway...I regret nothing.
