1 piece ginger root, peeled (about the size of your thumb)
2 habenero peppers
generous handful of Red Hots or other cinnamon candy
Slice ginger thinly. Add to ginger ale along with cinnamon sticks & Red Hots to taste. Prepare day before serving so everything has time to steep. (At least let Red Hots dissolve.)
Cut peppers into strips (about 6 of them). Add to ginger ale mixture & let steep for as long as desired. A half hour will result in a pleasant tingle. For truly hot firewhisky, I recommend 3-4 hours.
Alternatively, if you want to precisely control how spicy it gets, place the cut peppers in a small amount of water and microwave for 45 seconds. This will result in a tea-like substance that you can use instead of steeping them directly in the soda, although I suspect it will be less spicy.
It's also a good idea (if you're serving to guests) to have two different strengths so that those with more sensitive palates can still enjoy this.
