HOW TO DRAW TITAN CHARACTERS (faces anyways..)HOW TO DRAW TITAN CHARACTERS (faces anyways..)3 years ago in Personal More Like This
So I just accidentally uploaded the video.... Here a proper journal about this. Oh god watching this, my voice is strange on video...OH WHO AM I KIDDING it's always been strange...
Click the drawing or click HERE:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeZHFZ5ruIk&featurelcp to be taken to the video!
So I finally posted something on youtube! And it only took me, what? Almost a year? Yeah sounds about right...
But really the video is to help out anyone who has trouble with drawing the titans. It's just the faces, because if I did bodies too, well it would take up 30 minutes (or more) and I'm sure that is going over board.
It's done traditionally because I own a webcam and I should actually start using it. That and I miss using my mechanical pencil.
Also I'm sorry if they might not look exactly right (I'm a critic to myself ok?) it might be my 'style' trying to take over [hahaha].
Very sorry if my method i

Gentle SnowfallAll right. Awesome story time.Gentle Snowfall3 years ago in Personal More Like This
It's been incredibly windy for the past couple of days (it doesn't ever snow, though ). While I was visiting my old house, I took my dog out for a walk up the hill to do his business. It was nighttime. First off, I nearly tripped and fell over what sounded and felt like a long thin tree branch. I looked back and saw nothing. Continuing onward, the wind was blowing pretty hard. It was brisk and exceptionally cold. I began to talk to Jack, knowing that he was behind all of this (as I usually do when a sudden cold wind blows or something along those lines...yeah, I talk to Jack a lot x3). The moment I uttered, "Jack Frost, it's you there, isn't it?" the wind blew so hard that I almost fell over. My dog perked his ears up, but soon went back to doing his own thing. I continued talking to Jack. Then, out of nowhere, my dog starts staring at something up the hill. He's not one to bark unless he knows it's someone/thing dangerous or threatening. Curious but ex
Preening FeetPreening Feet3 years ago in Personal More Like This
So, apparently Some species of hummingbird (sword-billed hummingbird in the pictures) use their feet for preening since their bills are so long and awkwardly-shaped. That makes me think of how deinonychosaurs might have used their toe claws to preen, almost like a dog. Perhaps therizinosaurs used their hand claws as well? That must've looked funny.

All About ThumbsWhat are thumbs? All About Thumbs5 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
"Thumb" is short for "thumbnail" which is basically a miniature version of a deviation (merely a nickname used to describe a particular piece of art that has been submitted to deviantART1) and on deviantART, a thumb is clickable and leads to the original piece of art. Thumbs can be used in various places throughout deviantART such as features and forums.
A thumb and its code
This is a thumb:
Go ahead, try it out and click on it. :D
To display a thumb, you're going to need a thumb code. A thumb code looks like this:
And they can be found on the right side of a deviation:
To display a thumb, simply copy and paste the deviation's thumb code where you'd like the thumb to be displayed.

10: Phased plasma rifle (in a 40 watt range) - The Terminator
Thanks to some superb camera work, editing and sound effects, the weapons seen in The Terminator's future sequences packed a gut-wrenching punch that was light years away from the pew-pew lasers of yesteryear. As he demonstrated in Aliens, James Cameron had a particular way of giving his fanciful ordnance real substance and weight, and the future he depicts in 1984's The Terminator is genuinely the stuff of nightmares. If only McG had looked to these sequences for inspiration when making Terminator Salvation, maybe he could have recaptured some of the oppressive sense of foreboding and hopelessness that James Cameron brought to his classic original. Just look at the sequence where a Terminator blasts its way into a human compound near the end of the film. The intruder's every move has a menacing sense of purpose, while the destructive power of the Plasma Rifle it carries is perfectly depi

I started this journal because I had been dissatisfied with my art skills so since May 28, 2011, I've been on the hunt for material to help me out. PLEASE NOTE: This journal gets UPDATED! So check back every few months or so for anything new! And if you find something useful, please suggest it! If you have your own collection of resource links, please share them! And if you're browsing this list and encounter a site link that no longer works, let me know.
ANNOUNCEMENT! My journal is becoming too big. So soon in the future, I will be making a PART 2 to this journal. Some of these sections will be moved there, and the ones left behind will be expanded upon!!! Please continue to leave suggestions. Let me know what has helped you out. I would love to know.
UPDATE! December 29, 2014: Instead of making a PART 2, I will be moving all current information found here and will be making all future updates on my website,

Contest: Fan Art NouveauHello, everyone! It's time for another Fan Art contest. This time, we're asking participants to create Fan Art in Art Nouveau style.Contest: Fan Art Nouveau2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
What is Art Nouveau?
"Art Nouveau (French pronunciation: [aʁ nuvo], Anglicised to /ˈɑːrt nuːˈvoʊ/) or Jugendstil is an international philosophy and style of art, architecture and applied art—especially the decorative arts—that was most popular during 1890–1910. English uses the French name Art nouveau ("new art"), but the style has many different names in other countries. A reaction to academic art of the 19th century, it was inspired by natural forms and structures, not only in flowers and plants, but also in curved lines. Architects tried to harmonize with the natural environment.
Art Nouveau is considered a "total" art style, embracing architecture, graphic art, interior design, and most of the decorative arts including jewellery, furniture, textiles, household sil
Is Reference Bad?I feel like I've addressed this before at some point, in some other journal, but I find myself either discussing this with people a lot, or coming across people who on their work proudly claim to have "used no reference."Is Reference Bad?4 years ago in Personal More Like This
The biggest problem, and misconception, regarding references is that people feel like it's cheating or that it somehow cheapens their work. While I can understand the sense of accomplishment coming from using no reference to finish a painting or drawing, people who consistently do it are only hurting themselves in the long run. So in short, no, reference isn't bad.
Artists have been using reference since the days of the old masters. They would reference life, whether it be landscapes, objects on a table, or models standing in a studio. They would even reference their own sketches or other people's work in order create convincing paintings.
For some reason, a lot of people today seem to think that in order to be a good artist, they have to be able to do things without

The United States Congress is proposing two laws that address the problem of wide-scale unlicensed distribution on the Internet of motion pictures, songs, trademarked goods, and patented pharmaceuticals.
One of the proposals is called SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and would direct search engines in the United States to block Internet sites outside the United States that are primarily engaged in distributing unlicensed content.Another proposal called PIPA (Protect IP Act) would block websites located in the United States as well. The Obama administration is putting a stop to these proposals. It wants the Internet companies and the content companies to get together and come up with more functional and less destructive solutions.
Fun Facts (v.5 Beluga Whales)Can it be?? Fun Facts are back! I will be trying to update this at least every other week, on Sunday nights. This week, I'm re-launching with facts about beluga whales!Fun Facts (v.5 Beluga Whales)3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Beluga Whale Facts
1. Also known as “sea canaries,” belugas are one of the most the most vocal of all whales. They exhibit a wide range of vocalizations including clicks, squeaks, whistles, squawks and a bell-like clang.
2. The word beluga comes from the Russian word “bielo” meaning white. However, these white whales are born dark gray. It can take up to eight years before they turn completely white.
3. The beluga is the only species of whale able to swim backwards.
4. The vertebrae in a beluga’s neck is not fused together, giving it the unusual ability to turn its head up, down and side-to-side.
5. The beluga can change the shape of its bulbous forehead, called a “melon”, by blowin

Louie Schwartzberg has made it his life’s mission to use his cinematic artistry to raise the alarm for public awareness of the dire situation we are facing in the possible collapse of our taken-for-granted natural resources. The “colony collapse disorder” currently decimating our honeybees was the prompt for Louie’s new movie, Wings of Life, which at it's essence, is a love story that feeds the earth.

Tigers, elephants, rhinos, and countless other species face extinction.
On the frontline of defense of the world's threatened wildlife and natural resources are the protected area enforcement rangers, who patrol day and night over inhospitable terrain. Their vigilance represents, in many cases, the only obstacle between globally important species and the criminals driving them to extinction.
Protected area rangers carry out their work at great personal risk from disease, accidents, and encounters with violent criminal groups. Over the last ten years more than 1,000 are known to have been killed in action, with an even larger number injured or maimed. In the first half of 2013 alone, a confirmed eighty-five rangers have lost their lives. It is possible many more have been unreported.
Many protected areas in developing countries lack sufficient financial support from government agencies. As a result, many rangers in these count
