Ian glanced out from under his bangs at Louie and shifted his weight against the wall where he was leaning. "I'm wearing a suit, I brushed the cat hair off of it, and I'm here," he muttered. "That should be good enough."
Louie sighed. "Ian, at least for Edmund's sake...you can tell he's heartbroken. Mr. Gambino might not have been that great to us, but he meant the world to Edmund."
The two of them glanced toward the side of the pavilion, where the older man in question was slumped in a chair with his face in his hands. Edmund rubbed his fingers slowly across his eyes and temples, and the two brothers could see exhaustion in his features. The dark circles under Edmund's eyes told them clearly enough that he had not been sleeping well, and a hint of redness about them suggested he may have even been crying
