A present for my mum on Mothers' Day, she'll be flying interstate to visit my sister and I this weekend.
It is from a book uninventively called Kusudamas, by Everdien Tiggelaar. The model itself is uninventively called 'Kusudama 10', hence why I felt the need to give it a slightly more (but not by much) creative title.
6 pieces of 14.85x14.85cm paper/thin cardboard were used to make this. (If you know the dimensions of a piece of A4 paper, you'll know why.)
It was somewhat difficult to assemble, so I may have accidentally inhaled copious amounts of craft glue in the process.
Perhaps I shouldn't mention that it was so frustrating that I nearly resorted to using blu tac. Well, okay, so I did. But it didn't work.
This set of round beads has a base of white encased in pink that has been embellished with scrolls of intense black stringer. The scrolls have been left raised on the surface. Perfect for valentines day earrings
If you'd like to see more of my work, feel free to stop by my Etsy store. If you don't see what you're looking for, Let me know and I'd be more than happy to work with you
Usually when I try something new I have a lot of fun and get reasonable results but this was a definite exception. The sugar paste that I used to ice this cake was a pain. I thought it would be so easy to scult but its heavy, saggy, doesn't stick to itself, dries and starts to crack on the surface very fast. This was my second attempt at the green icing, at first it went to crap very quickly (like old, dry playdough) and I got so annoyed with it I ripped his skin off and threw it in the bin XD
The scond attempt was slightly better and I managed to make a frog out of it but it's still very dry and wrinkly and shows the seams where I tried to attach parts.
Anyway.. this is the end reult. An ugly old frog cake for my dads Bday- I used a book for this cake so some may recognise him.
shoe customization for a friend who wanted wings like Hermes made with vinyl, felt, and a messed up sewing machine rounded corners are a serious PAIN ended up using white eyeliner to draw on the vinyl since I didn't have any chalk and everything else didn't work -_- in the end, I'm pretty satisfied. Good experience for the future! I've always wanted demon wings for my shoes and backpack.
