Friendly Chaos, Part 1Once again, I found myself up late at night talking to people online. I never really chatted much online before, but with it being the dead of winter and on winter break nothing was going on. It was now 2009. New Years Day was just another day for me really. I stayed up late, watched the ball drop in New York and all that jazz. I even stayed up to midnight myself talking with my friends, ringing in the New Year with each one as we were all scattered across the globe. It had been a while since I got to talk to Scales and Jake. It was nice to hear from them again.
'Howdy Scales.' I typed moments after I saw his status change from offline to online.
'Hi.' he quickly typed back, 'been awhile.'
'Yes is has.' I put on screen, 'How's the whole fight thing going? I've been worried about you and Jake.'
As if he heard me, Jake's status changed too. He has a habit of doing that though.
'Jake! You're here too?' I typed and fast as my claws could allow.
'It's New Years, we had to get on and be here
Friendly Chaos, Part 3"Reaction time," I said as I estimated the amount of time since he called and I heard the sirens, "About 30 minutes. That's about par for Macoupin county police."Friendly Chaos, Part 36 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
I gathered up a few more of the squeakers till the sound of sirens got too close for comfort. I don't think they'd be happy to see a huge battle dragon and my IDs didn't match up with me anymore. I put the bucket near the kitchen door and went to the front pasture. It was the largest amount of open space and I didn't know how strong the wind gusts from my takeoff were going to be. Once I just walked over the fence, I spread my wings, jumped into the air and gave them a mighty flap. I could see the trees across the road move with the amount of wind my takeoff made and a lot of snow that wasn't totally frozen to the ground was kicked up, but I climbed into the air and was at about two hundred feet up in seconds, still climbing too. I could see for miles, even seeing the rapidly approaching police cruises red and blue lights in
Here's My Two Weeks: Part 1When life takes an unexpected turn, your only real choice to make the best of it. You must keep moving forward in your life to get anywhere. Unexpected turns can be just the thing you need or they can break you. Which one is up to you. Here's My Two Weeks: Part 16 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
With Storming the Farm over and two weeks before I had to go back to work at the library and back to class, I had a lot of time on my claws. So I did what any guy my age would do, anything that popped into my head. I dont think I made a lot of bad choices, I just may have rushed into a few things. Well enough of that, time to tell you what happened next.
My head felt like crap, a dull ache pounding in my skull. I didnt want to open my eyes. My muscles screamed at me not to move them and my joints popped every time I did move. There was a mild burn in my veins from the adrenaline that was long since gone. Ah, Sams apply named airsoft hangover. Any airsofter get these, the after effects of playing the game. Its even worse after Ops.
The College Drag, Part 1The College Drag. The College Drag, Part 16 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
When faced with a difficult situation, the best solution is to take it head on. Drive out the opposition from their hidden positions and deal with them. Any other method can result in unfinished work and that can have dire consequences if you are not really careful.
Well, my summer vacation went pretty well. I mostly played video games, went to movies and played as much airsoft as I could. I really improved my game over the summer and my M16, the Buzzsaw, got even better parts. She went from stock to rock your face off over one summer, but I still had a ways to go before I consider her done. Operation Storming the Farm was the highlight of my summer. The Gladiators won it and we showed the Skulls what we were made of. They taunted us on the forums, they were so sure that they would beat us. It wasnt a total sweep, but we built up such a large lead, there was no way they could h
The College Drag, Part 5I got up Friday morning to a funny sight. Nestled right between my tail and my right leg was Mini Me. That paranoid cat hasnt gone near me since I became a dragon. He would run off every time I would walk in the same room as him. And now here he was, fast asleep right in the same uncomfortable spot he used sleep in. I couldnt move as long as he was there. I tried to fidget out around him, trying very hard not to wake him up. I didnt succeed though, his little gold eyes opened up and he stretched his arms out. He even yawned as he began to look around the room he was in. When he caught sight of me staring at him, his face said it all. Best I could tell, it was,The College Drag, Part 56 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
Oh crap, wrong room!
He just sat there in wide eyed terror, thinking this was it, he was going to die. I slowly reached my right hand out to him, trying to get him to smell it. Maybe he might realize that Im me. To my surprise, he actually smelled it. I thought hed run away. I just starte
Friendly Chaos, Part 2"What was that?" asked Pez, he looked worried.Friendly Chaos, Part 26 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
"I don't know." I replied, "but I think I'll check it out."
I went to my bedroom and got my revolver from under my bed, quickly loading it with one of my already loaded speed loaders that I keep for emergencies.
"You don't think you're really gonna need that do you?" he asked, following me as I walked up the stairs.
"I don't know, but it doesn't hurt to be cautious." I replied just as I got to the kitchen door.
I looked out the window to see the long muzzled face of another dragon. He looked terrified, like something was after him. His head kept whipping around like he thought at any moment something could jump out and grab him. I just readied my revolver and cracked the door open.
"Farm!" the dragon said, sounding like he was in a panic, "You gotta help me!"
"And you are?" I asked.
"Earthy!" he shouted back, "You know me as Earthydragon88 on Deviant Art! Now please, let me inside!"
I knew Earthy, he was on my watch list and had been follo
Friendly Chaos, Part 4I stood up and stretched out in the front pasture, I felt wet all over. I looked at myself and I was covered in morning dew.Friendly Chaos, Part 46 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
"Great, I'm cold and wet." I muttered.
I shook myself and flapped my wings once, then once I was reasonably dry, started my very short walk to the house. I was just over the fence when I felt a very small series of light movements on my left foreleg. I turned my head to look at what was causing it and my eyes widened in horror.
"SPIDER!" I roared.
I rolled back onto my haunches and started smacking myself with my other paw trying to kill the huge spider. It was one of those big, hairy wolf spiders that must have been frozen, but alive in the grass and when I slept on it, it must have warmed up enough to move. Of course it's going to move around on a warm surface and that meant my scales. I still freaked out about it; it was spider crawling on me. Two quick smacks and it was squished. It was very tiny compared to me, but I could see it and feel it on me, that mean
The College Drag, Part 4Wednesday morning was just another cookie cutter morning for me. Math and English were the usual. Getting saddled with a lot of assignments and get them done in a very short time span. Mr. Sexton was nice enough to let us off with only forty problems instead of the usual eighty. I would have to power through them at work, or at least try to. Miss Kowski told us to come up with a poem. I made one up on the spot. For the life of me, I cant remember what it was. She liked it a lot and took it as my assignment, so that was done before I even left the room. Less work for me equals more fun times. I had three hours to kill between class and work. I found myself just walking around the campus. I did go to get some food at Sonic down the road, but that only took up about forty-five minutes to an hour. I was so bored; I started to just fling rocks into the woods next to the Science Building. They wouldnt let people skip stone on the ponds, they said it was bad for them. The College Drag, Part 30A crack of thunder woke me up. My eyes shot open just as a bolt of lightning struck somewhere about a mile or two away and another round of thunder rolled over the house. I looked at the clock and saw that it was 5:27 in the morning. The College Drag, Part 306 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
Well I dont need my alarm anymore. I grumbled as I got out of bed and preemptively shut it off.
I crawled back under the covers and tried to get a little bit more sleep, but a deafening bang and the power being knocked out made me bolt straight up.
Oh great, a lightning bolt knocked the power out. I said because I saw that my alarm clocks digital display went dark and I could no longer hear the constant drone of the freezer in the downstairs kitchen or the refrigerator upstairs.
As I walked around the basement using my draconic eyesight to see clearly in the low light, I realized how quiet the house was. Outside the pitter patter of the rain on the roof and the rumble of thunder every so often, it was so quiet. No buzzin
The College Drag, Part 9We all just gathered around the back end of the Ford. Scales, Jake, Arcade and Ian all wondered over from the tents to listen to the story. Even other airsofters came over. Lurch and Mahoney came up on leaned on Pats car. Pat had a folding chair in his trunk, so he got a comfortable seat, lucky. James, Will and Lucas all just stood around; I guess they were curious too. All of us huddled around Wyraach made us look like kindergarteners listening to a teacher read us a story, what a weird class. I didnt really care, I wanted to hear this. I took my goggles off and righted my hat, it was story time. The College Drag, Part 96 years ago in Fantasy More Like This

The College Drag, Part 25After that whole mess, I needed to take my mind off things and what better thing to do that is TV. I turned the thing on and the first thing I saw was some big special on the growing dragon population. Here with me now are my two guests, he said, Dr. Seth Wellsboro and Professor Chastity Harrison. Good evening and thank you for joining me. Tonight we are talking about something I would have never thought possible, dragons being proven to have existed and extraordinarily still be alive today. Not only alive, but a growing population in the world. It seems every day a new dragon is found as it returns home. The fact that these dragons were once normal human beings is quite frightening to the masses. I would like to ask you two on your views of recent events and what advice you have for our viewers at hom
The College Drag, Part 14The sounds of laughter, gun fire and occasional obscenity that was rising up from the basement said it all. Call of Duty 4 had to be the game, I recognized the sounds that could only come from that game as Wyraach and I walked down the steps. Sure enough, when we got downstairs, they were all on the floor playing pass the controller. The College Drag, Part 146 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
Oh, youre back. Scales said as he got up.
It seems like you guys have made yourselves at home. I said, looking at the mess they had made of my living room.
There were empty soda cans on every table, decimated bags of chips and a licked clean plate that still smelled of pizza rolls.
Sorry, Ian said while he grabbed some of the trash, We were going to tidy up before you got back, but we kind of forgot.
And we kinda ate all of the pizza rolls, chicken tenders and frozen pizzas you had in your fridge. said Scales, We got hungry.
Its okay man, I understand.
The College Drag, Part 15When I woke up, Dad had made waffles for us. I ate them as quickly as I could and made my way to LC. Wyraach had finished the job he needed to get done, so he said he was headed to the local comic shops to see what he could find. The College Drag, Part 156 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
If I could find a few morrre carrrdsss forrr my deck, that would be grrreat. he said as we walked out the door, Maybe get in on a tourrrnament if I can find one.
Good luck man. I said.
We both took off in separate directions. When I got to the Science building I noticed something, my wings werent as sore. They were still sore, but not as bad as they were the day before.
I must be getting used to flying. I thought to myself with a shrug.
I walked into the classroom and sat down in my usual spot. Mr. Philips walked in the room a few minutes later.
Good morning class. he said in his very warm and perky voice and that smile that was always on his face, We have a fun day ahead of us so let
The College Drag, Part 2The sun light hit my face the next day, making it impossible to keep sleeping. It was getting easier to sleep on my back like I used to. I guess I was getting used to the pressure on my wings. I rolled over to look at my alarm clock, my eyes flew wide open and my blood pressure spiked when I saw it. It was 7:45 and I had BIO 130 at 8:15.The College Drag, Part 26 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
I should be on the road by now! Not getting out of bed! I yelled at myself in my head.
I scrambled out of bed and into my clothes as fast as I could. I skipped breakfast and brushed my teeth to get out the dragon morning breath, that was a must. I ran out the door in record time with the garbage bag and fired up the Ford. Running as fast as I could to the burning pile and back just trying to pick up any lost time. The Ford was feeling pretty good that day. She tore out the driveway as fast as she could, not missing a beat. I love that truck; she always seems to know when to move. The drive there was intense; I drove as fast as I could. I mu
The College Drag, Part 3 When I woke up the Sunday morning, I knew I was not going to have fun getting out bed. I felt worse than I did after Storming the Farm. Every joint was so stiff that I sounded like a popcorn maker. I tried to make it as painless as possible by moving slowly. That was not going to help because when I got to moving my tail, about in the middle of it, it made such a loud pop that Sam heard it from her room across the hall and both our doors were shut. It also didnt help that immediately after I yelled,The College Drag, Part 36 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
I grabbed my tail a rubbed it so fast I thought I was going to set it on fire. Sam came running to see what happened only to find me rubbing my tail like it was a wish granting lamp.
That one must have hurt. She said.
Stupid GAP, using my tail to hold all their crap. I grumbled, the pain subsiding a little.
Here, Ill get you one of those icy-hot packs. She said as she ran off to the kitchen.
The College Drag, Part 20After I left the bank, it was a long flight to Johns house. It was fun to startle a group of Canadian geese; they didnt seem to know what to do about me when I flew up next to their formation. I just farted around with them till I got bored, mostly just banking around them and popping up in the middle of their triangle. After I had my fun, I began my descent once I felt I was close to my destination. That tin roof on a hill told me I was indeed on the right track. I landed out front and was greeted by the gang. The College Drag, Part 206 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
Hey Farm, youre gonna love its new look. Scales said as he walked out of the shed.
They did a spectacular job. Ian told me as he joined Scales and me in the yard.
Well, Im eager to see her, I said with excitement, so what are we waiting for?
Your payment. said John as we walked out of the shed and up to me, You owe me for the paint.
Sam told me and I picked up the money. I
The College Drag, Part 10Okay, the ref began, Since we have new people, I want to go over the rules. Rule number one, this is an honor sport, call your own hits. One hit and youre out. Anywhere on your gear or body is a hit. This includes wings and tails for all you dragons. I never thought I would say that, but now I guess I do. If it hits your weapon, its out. If you have a pistol, you can use that. Rule number two, there is a twenty foot safety kill range. If you get too close, call safety kill and it counts as a hit. If your weapon shoots over four eighty fps, then it has a forty foot safety kill range. This is a sniper rule. Rule number three, be polite. This is not the place for to go shooting your mouth off. You cause too many problems, you will be asked to leave and you will not get your money back. Youre all here to have fun, so lets all act like people and not douche bags. Now, lets re-shuffle the teams and get to playing some airsoft. The College Drag, Part 106 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
The College Drag, Part 28The next morning, I woke up wrapped of so tight in my sheets and I felt like I was a burrito. I even had my wings wrapped around me and squeezed against me by the sheets. The College Drag, Part 286 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
Oh man, I hate when I roll in my sleep. I groaned.
Sometimes I roll over and then roll over again in the same direction. This continues till the sheets squeeze around me and I guess I get comfortable. Its just that in the morning Im packed so tight that unrolling myself is a little tricky. I normally type writer it. Wiggle my way to one side of the bed, roll over, wiggle back and repeat till Im out. It doesnt take long, but Im half asleep when I do it so its not a quick process.
Almost there. I said as I rolled across the bed, feeling the sheets loosen up, AHHH!
I misjudged the amount of bed I had left and fell out onto the floor.
Oh, this day is going to be fun. I grumbled from the floor, I can just tell.
I fought the shee
The College Drag, Part 24They couldnt put me under, so I was awake the entire time. My shoulder was set wrong, it was pinching off arteries. That meant they had to dislocate it again and reset it.The College Drag, Part 246 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
Dont take this the wrong way, but Im going to tie your muzzle shut. the doctor said, I couldnt see his face very well with his mask on, When we dislocate your shoulder, its going to hurt a lot and we dont want you to roar and you might bite out of reflex. Im also going to put this leather bit in your mouth for you to bite down on. For the safety of us, please let me do this.
He held a nylon strap and the bit in his hands as he started to come towards me. I didnt want to have my mouth strapped closed with a bit in it, it just felt like I was being treated like an animal, but I could see their concern. I opened my jaws and let him place the bit in it. Then I closed it as he strapped my muzzle shut.
Okay, hold him down as I do this. the
The College Drag, Part 26It was a hot, stuffy and muggy night. I ended up waking up three times in the night. I tossed the covers off me the second time and the third times I took my shirt off. That finally made me cool enough to get some sleep, at three in the morning. To me, it always seems like a long blink, but then sunlight was beaming in from my little window and two seconds later, my alarm clock radio went off.The College Drag, Part 266 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
Dang it. I said and then let out a long yawn.
I rolled out of bed and walked to my closet to get a new shirt.
Screw it, I dont care enough. I said to myself as I kept walking and went to my bathroom.
After doing what I had to do there, I went upstairs to get my breakfast. It was just past six in morning, so I was the only one up besides Dad who was in the kitchen getting his breakfast as well.
Morning sleepy head. he said as I got to the top of the stairs.
Morning. I replied, still a bit sleepy so I wasnt ecstatic with my words.
The College Drag, Part 18The courtroom door opened and two officers led a man in an orange jumpsuit that was handcuffed between them. I could tell who it was even before he lifted his he to locked eyes with me, Ted.The College Drag, Part 186 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
Hello again freak. He said with a chill in his voice, Youre not getting out of this one; Ill make sure of that.
Whosss that guy? Wyraach asked

Now Mr. Boston, would you kindly describe that character of the defendant you know of? asked Mr. Winson.
Sure, thats the monster that attacked me twice. He was going to rip my throat out with his teeth, but my friends fought him off. I was lucky to escape with my life. Ted lied in open court, I can tell you with ce
The College Drag, Part 33I slept for about an hour till my stomach woke me up. It was half past two o'clock and I hadn't eaten lunch and was unconscious for breakfast. I shambled my way to the kitchen upstairs and began to root around for anything to eat. I was so hungry that I would just find something to eat and then just eat it then and there. Leftovers from Mom's meatloaf a few days ago, devoured. A microwave bowl full of macaroni casserole, emptied. A foil full of frozen hamburger patties, ripped open, flash fried with dragon fire and chomped. Once I have meat in my belly, I felt better but I was still hungry. I stiffed the air to find another food source and my snout picked up something. I just sniffed my way closer and closer to whatever it was, walking out the door and towards the barn. I was in a half daze and still a little light headed from being sleepy. When I walked in the livestock pens I found Buddy, Buster and Reggie just resting in their pen. I just sniffed around to find where the food was, bThe College Drag, Part 336 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
The College Drag, Part 27The next morning came and I woke up. The first thing I checked was if the door was still closed. The second thing was if my pants were still on. Both checked out. I carefully untied the bell and cracked the door open just a bit. There she was, still fast asleep under the covers. I went upstairs to make a nice big breakfast for her. I figured shed be hungry when she woke up.The College Drag, Part 276 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
Lets see. I said to myself as I looked over what we had, Bacon, eggs, hash browns, sausages and deli meat. I guess a nice large omelet with a ton of meat in it will do.
So I set to work on making a very large meat filled omelet. I may not have a very large range of breakfast meals I can cook, but I make a mean omelet. I used the biggest skillet we had to make the jumbo meat omelet. This thing took nine eggs to make a proper sized omelet. After filling it with as much meat as it could hold, I tossed into onto a plate, put from hot sauce on it, added some basil for presentation and
Feral Time, Part 1That first half of the semester was fun. That first day was something, I walking into work and Debbi thought I was a different dragon and tried to shoo me out from behind the desk. I was able to explain to her that I was me and after a little evidence proving my claims, personal info and all that goes a long way. She asked me if she could expect any more alterations to my body.Feral Time, Part 15 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
"I hope not. I'm tired of it myself," I told her, finally relaxing after a long and tense interrogation session.
Once I was proven to be me, she showed me off to the other employees to make sure they all knew of my new looks so there wouldn't be any confusion. It didn't help that I had to go shoeless for that first week. I got into the habit and tucking my feet under my chair to keep people from both staring at my talons or tripping over my feet.
That weekend I broke out my leather working supplies and rebuilt my boots from all the left over leather I had. I had quite a bit of it from my first pair and this time
The College Drag, Part 29I tossed and turned in my sheets, I couldnt sleep right. I was tired, but couldnt get comfortable. Ssso, you finally ssstart to embrace the dragon you truly are. said that reptilian voice I wish had a neck so I could ring it.
