Bring Your Type to Life - A Typography ContestIt is time for another Typography contest! The theme of this contest will be…Bring Your Type to Life - A Typography Contest3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Bring your Type to Life
This may sound abstract at first, but to keep the theme as open as possible, I choose a rather abstract title. There are many directions in which you can go. You could choose an anthropomorphic direction, where you breathe life into letters and give them human or other animate characteristics. Another route would be to create the letters out of living objects, such as plants or animals.
Which direction you choose, maybe even a third or fourth one, does not matter. What matters is that your letters are brought to life!
What kind of letters you bring to life, words, glyphs or sentences, is 100% up to you. This contest has a more visual approach, so you will not be judged on the creativity of the meaning you choose to give to the letters. However, don't rush it! Even one letter can appear completely different than another. Be wise with the letters, word

Stock rulesOkay, time for some rules.Stock rules5 years ago in Personal More Like This
You may use my stock for your artwork under the following conditions:
You link to my stock in your description.
You comment on the stock pictures you used and insert a link to your work. (I really wanna see it!)
Commercial use is generally no problem, but needs my express permission
Use outside of dA is also no problem, but needs my express permission, too. (I'm picky, aren't I?)
If you want to offer a print using my stock, you need - guess what - my express permission.
You don't have to fav the stock in question, but it would be nice.
If you have any further questions, just ask. I will answer. Promise!
I don't allow nude art, or art with political content. In other words, I do not lend my pictures to Nazis,
perverts or any other kind of extremist. If your gallery and/or favorites are full of tits, swastikas or other crap like

Precut Stock Providers who Name their SourcesEven if most of the precut stock providers are sincere, and only use their own resources... they don't often tell it! So, it is very hard to know who makes abusive precut stock pictures or not.Precut Stock Providers who Name their Sources2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I would like to encourage every stock provider to name his sources (even if they are his own).
You'll find here the precut stock providers I found who always name their sources, as you can see they are not very numerous. I hope that every photomapulators will find it useful and that many other precut stock providers will join the move.
I'm sad to see that many of the best precut stock providers I know and who offer they own stock didn't take the time to TELL IT! So, alas, they will not be selected in this list. I hope they'll do in the future and the list will grow.

Poser Material BasicsI just got a bunch of scenes to use for testing and promos. The meshes are wonderful, and the textures are, too. Unfortunately, almost all of the materials are unusable for me. I'm now in the process of replacing the materials because they're broken in Poser. Control maps have the wrong gamma, Reflection_Lite_Mult and/or Reflection_Kd_Mult are on, and the diffuse shading, specular, and reflection are handled incorrectly. Materials that shouldn't glow do, and ones that should glow don't. Some of this I can and do correct with scripts, but a lot has to be fixed by hand. In a 30 prop set with several materials each, it's kind of a bear to fix them all.Poser Material Basics2 years ago in Personal More Like This
These are great products, but they could be much better if they just had better materials that performed more consistently.
I know Poser users pretty much never complain about materials, so I doubt vendors are hearing about this. But I've loaded props to a plain scene (one infinite, one IBL or envir

How to stand out on deviantArtHow to stand out on deviantartHow to stand out on deviantArt5 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Deviantart has millions of members and billions of Lamas, standing out
and getting out of the anonymous is not easy.
Here is some tips from me.
Like i always say, this is nothing absolute, just a little guide.
Your Profile page is your way to tell something about yourself,
and it is sort of a first impression apart from your deviations.
even if you don`t tell something personal there, the way you write
and tell things tell something about you.
You can write about subjects thats important to you, what you do on deviantart,
feature other users.
A journal with some sort of information can help make you less "invisible"
You avatar/icon is often what people click on to get to your page.
a noticeable yet not overflashing avatar is in my opinion the best way to go.
try and find a avatar that stands out, but not bothers other people.
you can make a avatar from your own art, it will make it unique.
Instead of joini

This one is a different tip... Pretty cool actually. Making a transparent egg with an alien inside.
This one is also pretty cool too. Might give you more ideas or new tips!
NOW this tutorial will help out so many of you! I know this has been a question from a few of you. This technique can also be used to make robots/cyborgs. This video will show you how to create a skin "peel" look.
Just DO NOT use Bruce Willis, as those are not stock photos
Hope these help!!

♦ Brushes for the Photoshop are made from my own resources, free stock and purchased recourses. Unfortunately, I can't check every vendor and stock provider. If you noticed your own stock, used without your permission, please note me. I do support Copyright and do not desire to take part in DArama.
♦ The vast majority of my brushes are made in Photoshop CS. They will work in all CS versions of PS, GIMP and Paint Shop Pro. They won't work in PS 7.0, 6.0. and different Corel editors, so I recommend you to google software ABRviewer. It will help you to solve compatibility problem.
My rules are very simple:
♦ Credit with link back to my DA account Lileya. deviantart. com. It doesn't matter how you will do it.
♦ Show me your work. I collect every piece made with my brushes. Notify me somehow, via note, comment, as you wish.
♦ You don't need to ask my permission every time y

Contest!!! (!!!UPDATE!-Extension!)Hey!Contest!!! (!!!UPDATE!-Extension!)1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Sorry about the delay, we've been a little busy! But you guys voted and the one that won was Sweetness in this crazy world with 7 votes.
Sweetness in this crazy world. Something sweet/nice happening in the midst of chaos. Think of the famous, iconic picture of the man kissing the woman after the World War II ended. But instead of everyone cheering in the background, the war still going on
UPDATE Deadline is now August 31st, 2014.
In case, you don't know what picture I am talking about, here it is... (of course you can not use this picture itself.)
!~!~!~ Of course normal Group rules still apply ~!~!~!
1. You don't have to have a couple kissing, just to get that out of the way... That is just an example.
2. You MUST include something sweet AND something not so nice.
3. Be sure to use
