CSS Tricks: Responsive dA?If you are at least slightly into web design and/or using mobile devices to browse, you should have come across the term "Responsive Webdesign". Basically it means that a website is set up in a way so it gives the best browsing experience no matter on what device you are viewing it.CSS Tricks: Responsive dA?3 years ago in Journal and Gallery Tutorials More Like This
One term that is often mentioned along with it are "Fluid Designs". This usually refers to web sites that use % instead of px values to define sizes inside the layout.
This necessary trend in web design made me think about the deviantART.com layout. Because it is a design that has been working responsive for several years! You can test this by going to any place on dA and changing your browser window. You will notice how the ratio of all elements in width remains the same no matter how wide the browser window.
Now that we know that dA is responsive, we will soon find out that there is a responsive element inside dA, which reacts in first instance to the page on dA you are and in second instance to the brows

Here, I am doing my special welcome dance
that needs more steps and revampingfor you~
Greetings, fellow deviantART user! I welcome you to this warm article. Here, have a seat on this massage chair, and relax. How about something to read, like say, the latest issue of DELVE? Oh, and I'll have George get your snacks. Pizza, Cookies, Cake, or something else? What beverage would you like with that? Uh-huh.
Ah, the joys of welcoming others. Have you ever welcomed someone to something? Online? Offline? Over at dAmn? During a Live Streaming? How about a guest? Or a co-worker? Fellow classmate? While it is nothing obligatory, a welcome can mean a lot. And while you enjoy your snacks- okay, okay, I'm getting there.
just calm your tits srsly
Today, I'll be talking about welcoming new users! If you're not interested, that's cool. You can keep the snacks I just gave

Hello! In this article I will be teaching you some tips on the message center! Just some features and settings you may not have been aware of that I find very useful.c:
This is probably how your journals look by default, since the day you first visited your message center. Let's play around with some settings that may make some things easier for you!
So by clicking on the box that has a bunch of lines on it, you can get the journals (or any other part of the message center) look like how favorites and watches are displayed in your message center! This feature can be very useful if you like to see a bunch of things at the same time, and don't really care about the preview text. Or maybe also if you just want to take a quick skim right now, and look at the items that seem interesting and take the rest of the dive later.

DeviantART already has some great browsing options that are really helpful when looking for new deviants. I've typically found that Popular All Time, Popular 1 month, and Popular 1 week show the same deviants over and over again, so if you're looking for more variety in deviants, I suggest browsing through Popular 3 days, Popular 24 hours, or Popular 8 hours.
Browsing through Newest will obviously give the widest variety in deviants, but it can also get annoying sifting through th
PE: Forum OverviewAfter Astralseed's awesome article on Breaking Into Chatrooms, today's article will be focused on providing a general overview of the forum!PE: Forum Overview2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Within the forum, there are many Forums that you can enter into to create threads for discussion. These threads encourage other people to make posts in response to the 'original post' created by the 'original poster' - the person who created the thread. If you scroll down the forum page, there are many Forums that focus on a specific topic so that all threads within that forum must relate to the specific topic of the Forum itself. For example, if you stumble across the 'Gaming Forum', the specific topic is 'Gaming', so all threads within the 'Gaming Forum' must relate to 'Gaming'. This is important because if your thread does not relate to Gaming, it will be moved or locked.
After clicking the forum, for example, the

1. Quick Access to Replies
Click into a thread and you can see a bold heading 'Devious Comments (Add yours)' at the top. Click on the 'Add yours' part to be directed to the bottom of the thread where you can reply to the original post. Alternatively, you can click on the 'Reply' button on the left side of the original post right at the top to make your reply.
2. Access Threads Differently
If you click into a forum, for example the Deviants Forum, you will be presented with headings at the top: Topic, Started By, Replies, and Latest Reply. In the Started By column, there will be the name of the person who created the thread, and how

PE: Breaking Into ChatroomsI realize the title of this article may sound a bit strange so let me clarify that I will not be teaching you how to hack chatrooms or the like. No, no, we won't be burglarizing them either (is that even possible? ). Today I'd like to talk about how to have a positive first experience when joining the chats here on deviantART. While we have many users who chat on dAmn daily with great experiences, sometimes it can be difficult to find your own place in the chats and make your experiences there positive. I will go over what I feel are main topics/points which every new chatter can benefit from knowing about as well as include a few tips on how to make your chat experience positive.PE: Breaking Into Chatrooms2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This

The Big Guide to deviantART ForumsWhat is the Forum? The Big Guide to deviantART Forums2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
A deviantART forum is dA's own coded forum. Yep, a forum/community board that you can find elsewhere on the internet but functions a bit differently from the other forums out there, like the phpbb3 forums for example. Whether you are a new deviant or someone who has been on this site from months to years, the forum might be new and a daunting place for you. You might have heard rumors of users being torn alive! Or of some enchanted praise of it .
This guide will hopefully help you providing some core ideas and rules and notes on how to go around using deviantART forums. This will link to various FAQs on the site, links and articles by other deviants out there and give some tips to get you started on being active on this aspect of the site. It might be too much reading for one sitting, so bookmark/fave it for future references if you wish. While it might look hard to navigate or interact, using forums take some b

What is considered copyright infringement?Due to the growing concern...I have had a lot of people ask me what is considered piracy and what isn't. Things to consider is the Millenium Copy Right act and fair use laws. Funny enough a while back I would have liked a law like SOPA because it would hold a site liable for letting its users plagiarize my artwork. E.g a while back a group on Facebook took my work and refused to credit me, I contacted Facebook and they said they would remove the work, then the admins of the page said they would change it to a private setting so I couldn't access the site and see if my work was still being used without my permission. SOPA would have been useful but now I see that with such power as to hold an entire site liable for a bunch of users actions is dangerous because it can be abused. Also how would you feel if someone like me closed down a huge public web site because a few where taking something of mine? I have learned not to care when my stuff is uploaded elsewhere and shared. PE: Chat, Forum and the FAQMost of us don't read manuals when we get new stuff, partly because it can be pretty long and somewhat pointless to go through. It's not surprising that the faq on deviantART is treated in a similar fashion sometimes, but there are a lot of awesome goodies to dig up in there, especially where the chat and forum are concerned. In fact, deviantART has dedicated a whole section on these two in the faq here, something well worth a once-over!PE: Chat, Forum and the FAQ2 years ago in Art Features More Like This

Its a regular question, and something that the other Community Volunteers get asked about as well. So during Project Educate Stock & Resources week I'm going to try and lay out some of the reasons behind our choices.
Stock & Resources Daily Deviations, and how they are judged by the Community.
Dan has already touched on this touchy subject in his "Potential" Article here - The Potential of Stock
There is something fundamentally different about stock & resources DD's compared to all the other DD's from all the other galleries.
Stock & Resources are NOT finished artworks to be viewed as an end product.
We can't stress this enough!!!
The Stock Artist/Provider/Creator has not submitted this work becasue they think its absolutely perfect and they want to show it off, they subm
