The day after we went to Les Misérables, we watched The Phantom Of The Opera. However, we didn't go to the stage door afterwarts, because our drawing had already been signed by Ramin Karimloo (atm Jean Valjean, but was The Phantom at the 25th Anniversary of The Phantom Of The Opera) and Hadley Fraser (atm Javert, but was Raoul at the 25th Anniversary of The Phantom Of The Opera)
Our drawing of Les Misérables can be found here: [link]
Sorry for the quality of the picture. Red is hard to capture right
So... we went to London last week to watch Les Misérables and The Phantom of The Opera. We made this drawing to get it signed by Ramin Karimloo (Jean Valjean) and Hadley Fraser (Javert). However, when we were waiting near the stage door, it was also signed by Craig Mather (Marius) and Liam Tamne (Enjolras), which was pretty awesome
We thought it would be a good idea to practise our animation skills and since Kamelot is an endless source of inspiration, we thought it would be nice to make an animation for one of Kamelot's shorter songs. Of course there are still many flaws in the animation, but we're quite proud of what we made ^^ Feedback is welcome, but keep it nice, we've worked long and hard on this and keep in mind we're not professional (yet)
Kamelot was kind enough to let us share this online, so, there we go, enjoy!
Edit: here are the lyrics, because you'll probably need them if you want to know what Helena is singing XD (lyrics belong to Kamelot, of course) Maybe it's also important to know that this song is only part of the story. The actual story is told in two albums (Epica, followed by The Black Halo) and is based on the story of Faust.
[HELENA:] I remember a song From long ago Some of the pieces They remind me of you How could I know You were to leave me I thought that I was that melody Oh so wrong I'm but a whisper tonight
And if this is goodbye I will leave But I'll love you Until the end
[RIVER SPIRIT:] If the grace of God is real And the word of Christ can heal Bring their souls to heaven's light Bless the unborn child tonight
Sorry for the boring title, I just can't think of anything else...! xD
So, this is what we have been working on for more than a year. We started drawing last summer and finished it today. (Well... that's sounds like a long time, but there was a huuuuge gap in the progress, due to school and winter and stuff). We started to paint with acrylics and added a layer of oil colours on top of that. This painting is the biggest we have ever done: 1m x 80cm, if I'm not mistaken. I wanted to upload this drawing yesterday, but when I saw the thumbnail, I realized that we forgot the whiskers! How stupid can one be, eh?
Anyway, now it's all finished. We made some pictures during the working proces, so the WIPs will follow as soon as possible.
My goodness, it´s been a long while since I´ve last submitted anything...
I have been a Phantom fan (or Phan) for a loong time, almost 20 years. I realised I´ve never done any Phantom related art so now, with the Phantom25 extravaganza and the immensely talented Ramin Karimloo , was the time to do just that!
I might return to this and do a bit of rework later but I´m quite happy how this turned out!
Paper size: A4 Time: 2 weeks on and off Pencils: mainly Derwent 2b & 7b
Edit: Thank you so much for the faves and the comments!!!
This one can also be find in BlackShadow's (that's me!) gallery; here. GoldenLionofRa and I though we had to upload it on this account too, because we made it together and we both like this painting. Besides that: I think this is a better photo than the one used on my account.
Made with: Acrylic, Water-colour, a black peg (?), ruler, sponge and a little hurry.
