Call me Anna, she says, hoping they'll get the vague reference, but they never do, mainly because it's too obtuse, and partly because nobody really reads Moby Dick these days.
But it matters not, nothing ever does. She wears her hair swept up and her mind swept away. There are the remains of a meal speckled upon her collar and down the front of her top, but people make sure not to comment. It wouldn't be right, but that's for later.
First, call her Anna. Heroines always had such exciting names, she mourned, drowning in jealousy that she instantly hated them all. She embraced the plain out of spite, and insisted that people called her by her boring middle name, started work as a librarian, and married a man who was the human embodiment of beige.
He didn't stand out anymore than she did. He wasn't tall and wasn't short, wore glasses in the least imposing way and sometimes spoke too quietly. He hated repeating himself, so told people to forget he said anything at all if they hadn't heard

I miss her
I miss who she is
Why can't I accept her absence
I'll never be able to continue
As long as I can't be with her
And as long as I'm not able to continue
I can't keep helping people
I see all these relationships around me
And they dont mean anything to each other
All they want is the sex
Or they look each other for looks
Or even at times just so they arent alone
And I am in love for who she is
And I want her for all she can be
Not many guys will say that
I dont want her for her body
Its not important to me what she looks like
Even though she is beautiful
I never thought I'd feel this way
Never thought I'd find anyone as pure as her
Somehow I did though
Somehow they dropped an angel
And I caught her
But its not fair
I love her
But can't be with her
What sense is that
Where is the justice
For what I've tried to do
Where is the one thing I asked for
I never wanted anyhting for the things I've tried to do
The people I tried to help
The "lost causes" I tried to revive
I never asked

You awoke to the sound of your alarm, singing at you the acoustic version of "Life is Beautiful" by Sixx A.M.
~Just open your eyes, just open your eyes and see that life is beautiful!
You blinked at the calendar next to your bed. It was Jan. 23. Day 156 without your deployed fiancé by your side. Day 156 of fearing telephone calls and doorbell rings. Day 156 of not knowing if the love of your life would make it home after the war.
You sat up in your bed, lazily walking over to the alarm clock and turning it off. "C'mon..." you grumbled "It's Saturday..." You wanted to go back to bed, but you knew you'd only have more nightmares, so you shuffled into your living room and turned on the news. "It's probably just fundraisers and gas prices. Can't hurt to wa----" The headline of the next story popped up and made your voice catch.
"Camp Anaconda bombed. 38 civilian casualties, 82 soldiers wounded, 23 soldiers dead."
Tears of pure fear began to fill your eyes. Wa

Beyond pairs of broken wings
your's and mine
just look out of
your shuted window
Christmas is coming
both of us
on it's magical
on his wooden sledge
skies up the starlit night
to draw a smile
upon your lovely face
Down to the children
back to your memories
once young and sweet
is the best gift
I beg Santa`
to give it to you
while you listen
behind lonely shadows
in cold corners
I say to you`
you ever wanted
now I know
is the same things
I ever dreamed
only for you
to trust in me~
to cut you free
Dream WorldDream World11 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
When I sleep
I think of all the things I wish that I had
Because my dreams are the things I wish to see
When I dream
I see vivid landscape
Beautiful things that in this world I take for granted
I see all the things I never noticed before
But wish I had
I see all my goals come to life
All my longings met
I see nothing that I may be upset about as long as I am dreaming
I never thought that life would become so good
As though I could feel I was once agian dreaming
As thought I'd never awoke
That I was still safe
Lying in my bed
She makes it all seem unreal
Makes it all seem like nothing could be wrong
Life used to be so hopeless
I was drowning in the sea of sadness
Ready to give up on everything I had once thought real
And then I layed down
Closed my eyes
And they reopened
And I looked around
And entered the dream I'm in now
A world where she exsists
Where my every need is met
For she is there toi fill them all
A world where everything makes sense

Macchiato Part 2
The coloured lights pulsed and reflected off every surface, every cocktail and every bottle showcased in the shelving behind the bar. The sweaty throng of dancers flocked together, twisting their bodies to the rhythmic shapes of the music in the humid air. They worshipped the DJ, elevated on his podium. They were his disciples and we would join in their cause.
"What do you reckon?" I raised my voice to ask Chris.
"Seems alright but I want a drink." He responded and turned to the bar
"Nah, no, no, get out there and scout the war zone. I'll get the drinks."
Chris raised his blonde eyebrows once, glanced towards the bar longingly and then finally spun on his heels and trudged towards the dance floor. I swaggered up to the bench, looking around at the other people eagerly awaiting service. I ordered two beers for Chris and myself. Turning abruptly, I accidentally knocked the arm of a dark haired guy who was carrying three drinks, causin

I'm sorry I wasn't there for you when it was your 5th Birthday. I wasn't able to see the happiness striking across your face, the anticipation running through your veins at the point of opening your presents. The blissful joy of all your friends and family around you as they sang happy birthday, that day was a memory I never had the chance to remember.
I'm sorry I wasn't there for you when you had your first day at school. It was like a new world for you filled with friendship, independence and above all, fun. I'll always regret not being there to pick you up after school and having you run into my arms at a thousand miles per hour, as though you hadn't seen me in years. Those days when you came home and started humming a harmonious song that you learnt, it was a tune I'd never hear.
I'm sorry I wasn't there for you when you were eight years old and just learnt to ride your first bike. The breeze going through your hair as yo
HateHate3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Hate: a intense hostility and aversion usually deriving from fear, anger, or sense of injury b:extreme dislike or antipathy; loathing c:an object of hatred. That's a dictionary definition. My mom's definition: Hate as close to your heart as love. I find that to be true. But I also see hate as a motivator. For example, most women hate spider, so they scream. Now what motivated them to scream? Their hate of that spider. But hatred can consume you. And I'm not talking about hatred for a spider. I'm talking about hatred for a certain person, place or thing. Like in this book I recently read, the hero hated a "thing" because that "thing" killed his family in front of his eyes as a little boy. I would be pretty pissed as well. That hatred can shape us and define us. But I have a question for those haters: What happens when the hate goes away? Is there emptiness, or a feeling of fulfilling something? Ask yourself that simple question. Is hate worth loosing yourself to it? Is it worth the end r
L-O-V-EL-O-V-E4 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
It's only a four letter word,
But it still packs a punch,
And each letter has a different meaning.
The L stands for the late nights
That I spend up talking with you
When I should be doing my homework.
The O stands for opposites,
Because they really do attract;
You and I are the living proof.
The V stands for validity,
Because I've never known something
As true as what we have.
The E stands for eternal,
For the thought of you and I
Will be forever engraved in my smile.
So you see,
The best things do come
In small packages,
Because though the word is short,
It's one of my favorites
And always will be.
I Hope I Recognize YouI Hope I Recognize YouI Hope I Recognize You8 years ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
Perhaps we will meet suddenly
With a stumble or a misstep
And that will lead to us clinging to each other
To regain our footing
Or maybe our eyes will meet across a crowded room
And we'll be drawn together by a mysterious curiosity
Perhaps we'll be introduced by a mutual friend
Or maybe even by a match-making co-worker
And we'll talk all night and nurse our espresso drinks
Touch on every subject of conversation
And laugh until we cry
And never notice where the time has gone
But will I recognize you?
The one that is made for me as I am made for you?
The one who completes me and I complete you?
The worry creases my brow and torments my sleep
Who are you? What do you look like?
Where are you from?
Thousands of questions invade my mind
And mingle with my romantic notions and
Thoughts of you invade my waking hours
And in the middle of the night…
Well I won't say what happens in the darkness
When I imagine your touch
But when we meet
