But by the label on your coat
Which grouped you all "the same".
The hatred grew, but I stayed mute.
My thoughts, I could not say
But, to the shock of both of us
The jeers faded away
You hoped they halted hate crimes
And the brutal treatment passed
But, with a sudden hit, your hopes
You scrambled for the p i e c e s.
The German army marched onwards,
Over the shards of your precious past
And your possible future,
Saving the remnant
